Anyone use an 8bitdo controller? I loved it but recently started playing MM2 and now I notice input lag that I don't get with the pro controller. Anyone have this problem? I might end up getting a the SNES classic controller now.

Thinking about getting a Switch for the holidays. Any recommended games for kids who play Mario Kart, Ni No Kuni, and Minecraft? |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
There are a couple of great exclusive JRPGs for the Switch : Octopath Traveler and Fire Emblem : Three Houses. Neither is exactly Ni No Kuni, but they're both really fun, well done and easy enough for kids to play.
And of course besides Mario Kart 8, you should pick up Smash Bros Ultimate which is hugely popular with the kids. My son and his friends play it all the time. |

I am really on the fence about this one. I hated LM2 on the 3DS. Found it nearly unplayable. I'm sure this will control way better but I am waiting on reviews before I spend a voucher on this.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I'm tempted by the extra coins for preordering LM3 but the last time I got tempted by the bonus coins was Mario Tennis, which is one of my biggest switch regrets.

Was it bad? I don't recall why but I never picked it up. I have nothing but fond memories of the 1st. I'll be buying 3 at launch day.
Most of the reviews for Dark Moon were pretty positive, but my experience was reflected by Game Spot GameSpot Mar 21, 2013 65 A mostly pleasant game marred by the possibility of moments so frustrating, they threaten to overshadow the entire experience. These missteps are all the more disappointing because the better elements of the game are so charming. You may still want to take up the PolterGust 5000 and explore these haunted houses, but be warned: the things lurking in these dark places aren't likely to scare you, but they may well have you seeing red. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I thought Dark Moon was fine. Kind of repetitive but not bad necessarily. |

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
It seems interesting enough for me to give it a buy. I go to the gym regularly, but I have slacked on cardio/abs so maybe this will be a nice little addition for conditioning type workouts.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Swapped to a Lite so no Ring Fit for me. That being said, I wouldn't be interested even if I were able. I exercise in my basement where there is no setup to use it.

I tried it out after work and made it through the first world (about 25-30 minutes counting setup). So far it's awesome. Definitely a good workout at least for someone like me who's only exercise is playing basketball 3 times a week. The ring-con gives way more resistance then I was expecting.
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I tried it last night, and I made it through the first 2 levels. I was surprised at the challenge of some of it. It actually did get me to sweat. The ring has less resistance than I expected, but it was still decent. I'm actually looking forward to playing it. The setup did take quite a long time.
I was also surprised at the length of the fit battles. That first battle having to do 30 squats? Damn, it's significant. |

Well, if they like Mario Kart there's Sonic Racing and Crash Team Racing. Also, Dragon's Quest Builders is obviously inspired by Minecraft.

Hey Noonan, how do you like the Lite? I'm thinking of doing the same for my boys since they only play in handheld mode anyway. Do the Lites have the stick drift issue too?
Thanks I've probably put about 150 hours total into gaming on it so far with no drift issue. That number will balloon up quite a bit when Pokemon comes out in a couple weeks. Edit: I guess I should add that none of the games I've played require any precise stick movement (fighting games, platformers...etc). I'm a RPG player; games which rarely need any movement like that. |
