One of the core design choices is "one-handed play". Of course I'm not sure how that translates to the Kingdom Builder mode.

All due respect, why the hell would we want to play the mobile shit on the console? The watered-down nature of that stuff is why consoles still exist as a viable segment.. so admitted gaming snobs/lifers like me can play REAL videogames and look down our noses at all that iShit.

Finally watched the Fallon thing. Zelda looks promising. The console does look pretty sexy. I don't usually have a problem With Fallon but that was kind of over the top. Seemed like genuine enthusiasm though |

The plan is for Yooka-Laylee to now hit the Switch rather than the Wii U.
After many challenging months, we’re finally able to update you on the Wii U version of Yooka-Laylee and announce a number of developments. The Playtonic team is sad to confirm that despite our best efforts and exploring every possible avenue, we’ve encountered unforeseen technical issues that unfortunately mean it will be impossible for us to release the game on Wii U as initially planned. Nintendo Switch Soon to see 80% increase in nonsense puns. We can however confirm the exciting news that we are now working very closely with Nintendo to look to bring Yooka-Laylee to the upcoming Nintendo Switch. We’re looking forward to exploring the opportunity and will have more details to share early next year. We’d like to apologise to those affected by this development and offer all Wii U backers the opportunity to move their pledge free-of-charge to any of the versions launching on April 11th (PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac or Linux) or upgrade to the Nintendo Switch version when we announce further details in 2017. Information on how backers can change their formats will arrive in January, once we’ve finalised the smoothest possible solution. Nintendo reveals Switch specs. Basically, less powerful than PS4/XB1. At that price-point, I don't see why anyone would have assumed otherwise.

To be fair, it's not Nintendo revealing them, it's still rumors from someone's source. But it's not surprising since it lines up with what I mentioned earlier about the Tegra X1 (which uses Maxwell) and what's in the development kits.

I don't think that's fair reasoning. The PS4 and XB1 have both been on sale lately for $250, so if this thing launches under powered for the same price, I would say that's disappointing.
Couldn't they have engineered it to where it gets more "powerful" when docking it? Kinda like the external processor that the PSVR set uses. That way the graphics are just downgraded when you are using the tablet. |
