Resident Evil 7

Re: Resident Evil 7
This game is starting to remind of the Alien game that came out a while ago. Replace the Alien with hillbillies and replace the setting of a space ship with the woods/house and here we go. I've found myself trying to hide rather than attack unless it's necessary.
Don't get me wrong I liked Alien and I'm liking this one but dang if it doesn't feel very similar.

I'm not thinking this is too bad so far. It really doesn't feel like a RE game though and feels more like ALIEN: Isolation. Since AI is one of my favorite games of all time this has a long way to go.

Yeah, it's like they took a new IP and slapped the RE name on it so it would get more exposure than it would have if it were called, say, "Resident Trump Voters".

It's weird how some say it is RE in name only, and others say it is very much a RE game.

That said, I am playing through this right now in VR mode. I will wait until I've finished the game to make detailed comments, but I feel this is definitely a return to the series roots.

I can't imagine what this must be like in VR mode. I'm enjoying enough as is in old school mode. It almost makes me want to buy the VR but I think this is the only game like this available right now?

But by the same token it really isn't a RE game. RE was always about zombies, and biological weapons. There's no zombies here. No biological weapons. It's played in the first person instead of third person. It takes place in Louisiana.
Where it really gets me is how similar it is to Alien Isolation. I know I brought that up before but it's basically the same game.
-Both games feature the protagonist going to find a loved one that they are not sure what happened to.
-Both games take place in a claustrophobic environment.
-Both games feature an antagonist that can't be killed and that you basically have to run and hide from.
-Both games have weaker enemies that your weapons actually work against.
-Hell both games even have a flame thrower which is the only weapon that really does any damage to the unstopable villain.

I always felt like Resident Evil should have been an anthology series to begin with, but then it got hooked on the story of Umbrella and peaked at #4.

is it a particularly hard/frustrating game? i love me some ammo and shooting stuff and this seems more like conserving and going around stuff. Kinda like that great one on PS with the infected. What was that Last of Us? I couldn't get into it...

Played it in VR last night and have a question. At the very beginning in the woods I'm seeing terrible noise or snow or something like that on the sides and top of my "screen".

The dirty coin just works like an extra antique coin that you find in the game. You use them to unlock special items. I wouldn't say it was worth it since I've found plenty of those coins already.

Re: Resident Evil 7
Just finished it. I consider myself a decent RE fan and this is probably my new favorite. The move to first person did wonders for it.

thanks. Saving the stress
