Re: Resident Evil 7

I played a bit more, finally. It's like Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Like it, but the handgun is so useless. Took me many times to takeout out first Mia and then father, still haven't got past him. But we'll see. Still early and I like the style. Can't wait to see how it ties into series and Umbrella...

You can combine gun powder and chem packs to make more powerful ammo. There is a much better handgun you can purchase a bit later on in the game as well.

Are the snickers in one of the crates you can smash? I've gotten almost zilch from those. What's the point if nothing at all in them?

Re: Resident Evil 7

How to take him out:

Wait until he gets really close then give him fluffy fingers until he giggles himself to death.

Just keep playing the game.

Re: Resident Evil 7

I'm definitely liking the style more and more. I like how you have to figure out shit and find shit and piece them back together. Reminds me a little of RE4. I like that it slowly opens up new places in the house and you have to hide and figure out ways to get passed family...

Re: Resident Evil 7

So, I'm not missing anything, but early one I can't find keys to get into drawers and doors, right? I mean I'm scouring, but haven't found a single key yet. That must come later? And how do I get one of the shotguns?

Re: Resident Evil 7

You get keys and a shotgun in like the first two hours of the game and you've been playing for almost a month. The game is only like 7-8 hours long.

It's the only game I have in the hopper right now, but that doesn't mean I play it all the time. I could go weeks without playing. I'm just starting to pick up pace bc I'm liking it, but don't have the time to pick up and play for hours on end. I was lucky to get in maybe 45 minutes the other day. And I'm going very slowly. I'm probably not even 2 hours into gameplay. I really just started...

Re: Resident Evil 7

This is really starting to open up. The Molded are pretty creepy. Reminds me of those wobbly things from RE4. Just wish they dropped loot when they die. Finally got a shotgun. The game really creates a sense of dread. Scared to round a corner. Running and hiding from members of family. Pretty creepy.

I have a feeling the reveal or connection to series is that's it actually
Spoiler:
a prequel to it all and the key to how the whole zombie outbreak occurs. Umbrella steals whatever shit, tries to weaponize and the rest is history....

Game feels like an eternity when you reach
Spoiler:
The Ship

I don't know, call me crazy but I don't think the length of a game determines if it's great or not - I loved the evil within but didn't think that needed to be 15 chapters either.

A solid 6 hour game with a ton of detail and a couple of DLC's (with at least one being free) is perfect.

I never said anything about the game length being a negative. I was stating the length because he's been asking questions that get answered in the first hour or two of the game for like a month.

I'm the president of the group who doesn't equate game length with quality. Some of my favorite games only last an hour or two.

No worries - wasn't directing anything at you - trust me, I KNOW why you stated what you did I just wanted to chime in with my thoughts on time of completion for games.

Yeah, Resident Evil VII was quite the surprise for me. Such a solid game until you reach that point, which is a shame because the pacing was pretty amazing for the first 3/4 of the game. The last quarter does drag a bit but it didn't drag my mental score for it down too much. I'd say overall with the last quarter of the game dragging a bit it's still a very solid 7/10. Could be an 8 if the last part of the game wasn't such a slog.

Started the "Daughters" DLC last night - it's awesome. Jacks 55th birthday was free with it as well.
