Could have sworn their was a thread on Nier: Replicant. I mean only remaster/revamp sorta thing, so out before. Anyway, any buzz on Replicant? Comes out Friday. Any early feedback? Reviews in progress? I checked Metacritic, but nada.

I think I’m gonna start with this one since before time of Automata and was going to give it a whirl and only take I short break from Outriders.

The original Nier was just Nier in the US (it was Nier: Gestalt in Japan which was Nier: Replicant with an older lead character). But it was never a "huge" game to begin with stateside so no thread either way.

I hear the pacing is better on Automata, so you may want to start there but I'm hoping I'll love me some Replicant.

I like to do these games in order of timeline, even if they have barely anything to do with each other. This came first and looked even better, to me, than Automata.

Yeah a lot of people seem to not know NieR is a spin-off of one of the timelines of the Drakengard series.

But it’s Replicant then Automata, right?

Yep. It's Nier:Replicant and then Automata. They actually expanded on NieR: Automata's true ending as part of a stage play/reading in 2017 which is apparently the true true ending.

Also, good God that Drakengard timeline

Not surprised about it getting dinged on Gameplay still, I think my love of Automata will get me through the lulls this time around. (I started Nier at some point, but didn't get super far)

From the ign review and video, I’m really looking forward to trying this out some time Sat. Looks spectacular. And 60 FPS in da house!

Is it an optimized title?

What makes this an rpg if can’t upgrade ability, sword ability and fighting, etc. (according to IGN review)?

Leveling in general. It's an Action RPG akin to Zelda moreso than anything - getting and completing quests, leveling, collecting items, etc;

Gotcha. Sounds like my kind of game! And the slashing and fighting is very Devil May Cry, which I love.
