Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

My son has been working with online friends on a rhythm game for the last year or so. They are *ahem* borrowing all the DLC and ingame songs from all the versions of Rock Band and Guitar Hero to test it out. It's also cool that there are many people making their own custom content, one dude is a big Cattle Decapitation fan (extreme metal band) and has been creating playable drum tracks for a lot of their songs. My son loves playing those, he uses a big electronic drum kit to play the game on, he even converted it to double bass by using the drum petal from the hi-hat.

We still have some old guitars, including a Rock Band Pro-guitar, so far they are still working luckily, but it really sucks that they aren't making new instruments anymore. A lot of kids my son's age (17) love the game and many complain about that (one guy that my son is working on the game with is designing his own 3D printed guitar controller, he's going to send one to my son to test out when it's ready).

Man, I hate to hear that. I still play regularly as just a stress reliever. And I still buy new DLC all the time.

There are going to hear it from Rock Band's followers. There is still a large and passionate group of fans that play constantly, and the Rivals online stuff still seems to be a large draw. I guess just not large enough.

Gonna have to check Reddit. I bet there are some people losing their minds right now with this news.

This week's DLC release is "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John and "Our Love Will Still Be There" by The Troggs. Guess they were trying to tell us something. Now I'm really sad.

I haven't played any RB games in forever. My daughter wants to play, and I have my instruments, but I can't find any of the USB dongles that go with them.

Yeah, I have bins in basement storage full of guitars and drums and whatnot and every variant of Guitar Hero and Rock Band (Beatles, Metallica, I, II, III, etc) plus 100s of purchased DLC. I don't even remember which system they connect to? PS3? Once my kids went off to college some 10 years ago, and a subsequent move, I've never had the energy to reconstruct the setup. I would be more interested in getting my Rocksmith setup again.

Makes me sad. Long ago in a galaxy far, far away, a friend and I met up with various DVDTalkers here (most all probably long gone and no longer post) in Indiana for a long weekend and one of the games we all played together was the first iteration of Rock Band.

Odd timing. People have been begging for guitars for several years now and this comes right when RB4 quits licensing new content.

Is an RB5 on the way? I heard about Fortnite Festival but I wonder if that will have a community that will want to continue to do the Rock Band thing after it is no longer fresh? Please I read that they charge near 5 bucks a song on it! I don't play Fortnite so that is about all the info I know about it.

I may pick up one or two in case my pair of Jaguars die.

I still have a crapload of working controllers, but I'd be up for a new one. I do most of my playing on an Xbox 360/RB3, but I'm still in it for the long haul, so I'll be there for anything Rock Band that comes out (not Fortnite).

I believe 5 was announced, but I don't think there's any sort of timeline for it, assuming it hasn't been cancelled.

I haven't played a plastic guitar game in years, but I will pick one up so that I can play Rock Band 4 on my PS5 instead of having to use a PS4.
And maybe some Fortnite Festival once they make it compatible.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

I moved all my stuff to my Xbox Series X. I was hoping against hope that they would figure out a way to port The Beatles RB to the newest Xbox before RB4 shut down. My understanding is you cannot play it or use any of the instruments of RB4 for The Beatles game on XSX.

If you could, I would buy an old instrument (but I think you also need some special dongle) just so I could play it, but I didn't want to have to keep an old Xbox 360 around just for that one game. And I bought every piece of DLC for it too.
