Again, this is in progress. You don't see something here, doesn't mean we're not working on it, but this is what we can confirm right now for launch.
The dongle would drive the cost up of the bundles, so they won't be included. There should be a standalone dongle option available, however; we're working through that stuff now for launch. (This is really complicated stuff, which is why some of this info is coming in so late!) But you will be able to, for instance, use the dongle to mix and match new and old instruments on the Xbox One.

This is probably the most exciting track for me. I actually came here to point out its Aimee Mann/Ted Leo in case anyone didn't know.
I've always thought Whatever/I'm With Stupid-era Aimee would be the best for Rock Band but I actually think Milwaukee is as good a fit as any.

PS4 has a $60 standalone version because the PS4 can natively talk to PS3 controllers.
X1 only has the $80 game+adapter bundle because the X1 can't and the assumption is if you don't buy a bundle, you'll be using legacy 360 controllers (wireless only, no wired controllers are supported) so you must have the adapter. On the flip side, if you buy a bundle, you don't need the adapter for the included instrument.
The adapter is supposed to be available separately, but they're still working on the details of that. The adapter can be used for legacy controllers while also using new RB4 ones.
I still want a digital copy and an adapter, but that's not available yet. I might break down and buy the full bundle for new hardware.

My buddy and I were talking about his ION kit this weekend. I know Mad Catz has no interest in creating a device to support it, they want you to buy drums or the adapter.
I do expect the problem to be solved in two weeks with some homebrew USB adapter.

The PR guy on GAF said that the price of the digital and dongle would be the same as the "dongle bundle" at retail, and said to "take that as you will." I assume that means that the dongle's gonna retail for $20.

If I'm reading this correctly...I'm only interested in this for singing purposes and I have a few USB wired mics from my XB360 RockBand days. Therefore, I can just buy the digital version for XB1 and call it a day? The dongle/adapter would only need to be bought if I want to bust out my old guitar hero wireless guitars?

I've thought more about a digital versus disc release. I think I do need to keep a v1.0 retail disc just in case they ever crack customs on the X1. I can happily keep that for that purpose and get a digital copy in a future sale.

Have they said what the 30 songs will be? I wonder if it's all unsigned indie crap nobody will ever want to play. My guess : yes, it is.
And I STILL have a hard time getting my head around why the drums (and a mic) add an extra $120 to the bundle price. That seems so expensive.

It doesn't sound as if all of this is officially official, but apparently:
So even if you bought, say, Metallica's "Blackened", there's no guarantee you'll be able to play it in Rock Band 4. Maybe you can, maybe you can't.
Delisted tracks:
Most non-RBN songs that you have purchased or exported previously will work in Rock Band 4 eventually. Many will not be available at launch, but the plan is to get as much working as possible. Stay tuned.
Your song library is checked via your purchase history. You will then have to download the individual songs and packs.

Pre-orders seem to be done for the Xbox One Guitar version at Best Buy. Just tried to place one and there are no local stores left that'll have a copy, and online stock is all spoken for.

I went in to my local BB to pre-order the X1 "band in a box" bundle. It was sold out online. They had slips on the rack. Took it up to the cashier and the computer barfed on it. He said "we need to go to customer service...hang on, I can look on my phone..." He pulled it up, I saw the PS4 photo, he typed a SKU or something into the computer, and it showed X1. The receipt that printed confirms that.
Guess we'll see what happens in 3.5 weeks!

Fortunately I had previously made preorders of both the Guitar bundle and the Band in a Box at Best Buy. So I have a month to figure out which bundle I want to overpay for.
