If that's the case, why are they calling them retailer-exclusives?

Not everyone shops at the same store?

What I mean is that they're saying you can't get these specific pre-order DLCs any other way than pre-ordering through the store. Is that not the case? If not, then they're lying?

Maybe time locked but I doubt they are perma-locked.

They don't seem to be making that distinction:

What's worse is that I'm sure all of this "DLC" is on the disc already.

Oh, and here's their content release timeline - not sure how I feel about it - it's almost like they're turning it into Destiny.

[size]
Spoiler:

$60 for 16 characters + $30 for 6 characters

Seems pretty barebones at launch, in terms of content, almost like a free-to-play game, only for $60...

The content as far as I know is not on the disc, the DLC characters are not even completed yet, and you DON'T have to buy a season pass to unlock these characters. They CAN be earned by playing the game and using in game money to buy them. I don't know the points breakdown but I've read that by completing the story mode you can buy a single character. Online battles earns you fight money. Unlike SF X Tekken where the disc contained all the content and you HAD to pay with real money for characters.

Final trailer featuring the game's main theme

Hopefully they haven't learned tactics from Farmville and the mobile gaming industry about grinding and tempting people to unlock stuff with money...

According to this guy https://twitter.com/_ETR who got an early copy of the game. You get 10,000 for every story mode finish and 50 for every online win. It takes 160K to unlock a character. Doesn't sound too outlandish considering a ton of people will be playing online.

I don't get why we still make the distinction about "on the disk" and off of it, especially in this generation where day 1, gigantic patches are commonplace. So if they developed the character early but left it off the disk so you have to download him, that's somehow better?

Of course, anything is better than the way DOA does it.

The reviews are rolling in.

http://www.metacritic.com/game/plays...critic-reviews

While they're overall pretty strong (currently 84 on Metacritic), they all note a disappointing lack of Single-player content which is a huge disappointment to me.

Still undecided if I'm going to pick up my Limited Edition. That figure does look impressive...

Reminds me of how Rock Band 4 launched, half baked. Just buy our game now and we'll patch in the rest later. Oh, and don't forget to pick up the season pass too!

I'll probably wait till March when they add all the modes it should have come with, or when I can find it cheaper than $60, whichever comes first. Not enough content just yet.

Definitely not a gimme though, either. Not surprising because they do want people to pay for characters, but at least there is a way to get them for free if you're motivated.

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

I am sick of games being released that no longer have a single player component or campaign. I was gonna pick this up day one, but not buying it until it has a vs CPU put in play. Its just stupid that companies are alienating the majority of gamers by these stupid release decisions.

Capcom are greedy bastards wanting people to pay for every little thing. I will wait for the complete edition release. Which will then probably be succeeded by an Arcade Edition.

I can't believe there's no regular vs CPU stuff in this. That seems like the most basic of modes to have in a fighting game.

Looks like I made the right decision by not pre-ordering on digital.

Well that sucks. I'm just not that good at 1 vs 1 against real people in these kinds of games anymore. If/when the game is cheap enough, I might pick it up just for the SP stuff, but I have zero interest in MP in this game.

This along with eliminating two player modes that aren't online irritate me in games lately. Is it really so hard to believe that some people want to play together in the same room and not online? I just don't see the reason for eliminating a feature like that.

Wow, I didn't realize this. This seems like such an odd omission.

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

Early reports are that a lot of people are having trouble going online with the game, and when they do, they quickly get booted off. So, the online connection is terrible, and there's no real single-player mode to hold you over until it improves... the game is obviously rushed, so why even release the game now?

Didn't they screw up the PS4 port of Ultra IV as well? Not to pile on or anything, I'm sure they're working hard to fix it.
