I don't know "why", I just know this: "To ensure your points help your team, craft the badge before June 29th 10am PDT. The Summer Adventure trading cards are exclusive to the sale and will disappear on June 30th at 11am PDT."

Re: Steam Summer Sales 2014

I sold some cards and got what I needed to craft the badge... and still don't really know what the point of all of that was.

I guess, but I don't get the appeal for people to make that badge just for a new silly things like Steam Level or an emoticon. Oh well. I think in the future i'll just sell everything and use the couple of bucks over time to get a cheap indie game or two.

The only way to be eligible for the free wishlist games was to have crafted the badge. So there was a little more to it this time.

The summer badge also gave 1 in-game item, which can be sold on the market.

Re: Steam Summer Sales 2014

The only reason I raised my Steam level is to add a couple of showcases to my profile. One I like is the Achievement Showcase. I can see the total number of achievements I've earned, how many perfect games, and the average achievement completion rate. I can't remember if I had to be level 10, 15, or what to be able to add it.

I bought more games this time around than the last couple Steam sales. My final tally:

The Walking Dead Season 2
The Wolf Among Us
The Stanley Parable
Borderlands 2 GOTY
Shadowrun Returns
Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall
XCOM: Enemy Within
Papers, Please
The Swapper
Pinball FX2: Doctor Strange
Pinball FX2: Zen Studios F.C.
Pinball FX2: Plants vs. Zombies
Pinball FX2: Star Wars: Heroes Within

Re: Steam Summer Sales 2014

I didn't get much.

Batman Arkham Origins + season pass
Witcher 1+2
Battleblock Theater + Castle Crashers bundle
Just Cause 2

Outside of the Steam sale I picked up a Bundlestars bundle that included System Shock 2 and a bunch of games I hadn't heard of but looked potentially good for $2.50.

Is the XCOM: Enemy Unknown + The Bureau: XCOM Declassified bundle worth it? I've never played any of those games.

Re: Steam Summer Sales 2014

Yeah, Bundlestars has really stepped up their game. They and Humble are the only bundles usually worth looking at lately.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is good. It's a modern take on the classic turn-based strategy game. Not as good as the original, but still fun.

I have no idea what kind of game The Bureau is (FPS/Third person shooter?), but I haven't heard great things about it.

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't be given how new it is. Have it on my wishlist and was hoping to get it for free. Oh well, maybe for the Winter Sale...

Free game (SpaceChem) here:

http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/06/25/we...ent=11575#null

I haven't played it -- or even heard of it -- but the price is right. Apparently, they'll be giving away one game a week for the next 5 weeks.

Re: Steam Summer Sales 2014

The exchange subforum here looks pretty dead. Anyone think that a steam/other code trading thread would work here? Going through my years of unread email I'm finding lots of duplicate steam and etc keys, mainly from bundles. I potentially have lots of GOG gift codes to trade too, as I made most of my recent purchases there gifts just in case.

Re: Steam Summer Sales 2014

Id be up for a trading thread/code dump thread. I have Starbound and a bunch of other keys and am looking for a few older Humble Bundles (android 4, WB Games bundle).

Not sure the best way to avoid lurkers grabbing all the code dumps while keeping the thread clean though.

Lurkers are sad. We'd have to do trades/gifts via PM or email IMO.

Re: Steam Summer Sales 2014

I will keep an eye out for something I could trade because my daughter would love for me to get her Starbound (that is the Terrarria in space game, right?).

It just seems like it ought to hit one of the bundles for cheap sometime so I have been holding off.
