Recent regret purchases...
We all get games we regret from time to time. What have you gotten recently you regret?
I got Civ 5 with all DLC/Expansions off of Steam during the winter deals. I had never played a Civ game, but I knew that it is a VERY popular franchise. I played for a couple of hours and I am lost for the most part. The learning curve is damn steep. I definitely regret getting it. Maybe I will go back later and give it another go. Probably won't though.

I bought AC4 and Killzone at the PS4 launch... I've yet to touch either one. I hear AC4 is very good but after feeling burned by the first one I never touched the series again and I'm not sure I ever will. I know I won't play Killzone given my backlog of X360, X1 and PS4 games.

No regrets for me recently. Closest would be Titanfall I guess, I don't really regret it, but I only played it for about a week before moving on.

That's how I felt about the beta...I had got fun, but I got my fill. Had there been a single-player campaign attached to the retail game, it probably would have been a day one purchase.

Infamous Second Son
Gorgeous to look at, but way too repetitive and boring. Not really fun at all. I've been enjoying replaying Tomb Raider on the PS4 way more.

You'd think that this wouldn't be an issue anymore but it is for me. Especially with review embargos. But I suppose that's my fault for a lack of patience. Anyhow, this year the games I've bought and regretted are:
Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2 (PS3)
Titanfall (X-Box One) ....not a regret, but like the above posters I put it down and never picked it up again.
Deception IV: Blood Ties (PS3)

Killzone and Titanfall are my regrets. Killzone is just insanely boring. Titanfall is fun but I don't really play it anymore. I bought Knack ($25), Killzone ($25), Titanfall ($45), and Infamous ($60) recently. I actually enjoyed Infamous and don't hate Knack.

Infamous Second Son was indeed way too repetitive. But I actually wound up enjoying it, repetition aside, my only complaint against it is it never feels like you're getting anywhere. The boss fights were fun.

Thief. Even worse, I bought it digitally so I can't trade it in.

AC4 Black Flag for PS4. I bought it when they were doing the B2G1 deal, but I still haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I know I will (and enjoy it as well), but I didn't need to spend $40 on it. I'm still trying to get though my backlog of 150 or so last gen games (not including downloadable games). I'm starting to come to the realization that there are games that I'm not even going to touch, let alone finish.

I bought a PS4 to play Infamous. I regret both purchases. Infamous is more like a tech demo stretched out to a game, and the PS4 really has no new games on the horizon that seem interesting.

CoD: Ghosts - $60 on Xbox 360
CoD: Ghosts - $10 to upgrade from 360 to XO
CoD: Ghosts Season Pass - $50 for both 360 and XO by buying on 360.
$120 total.
I should have known better.

Re: Recent regret purchases...
Steam Sales are great, but alot of purchases are regrets. I need to get out of the mindset of "wow that is an amazing deal, can't pass it up!" I need to really think to myself "yes it is a great deal, but will I actually play the game". I wish I could stick to that mindset. Steam Summer Sales are coming up so I will put that to the test.
Honestly it is really dumb of me to get any new games for the forseeable future. All I am going to play is Diablo 3, Marvel Heroes, and Dark Souls 2 (April 25) anyway. Why can't I understand this logic?

So you regret buying a free game or the Vita bundle?

Re: Recent regret purchases...
I kinda regret getting the One at launch... turns out it wasn't so hard to find after Christmas and they bundled in a free game within a couple of months.
I don't regret my Vita, but I like a lot of niche games, especially Japanese ones. I do wish it had more/cheaper memory, though, especially for a system where they want you to buy stuff digitally.
I regret buying Battlefield 4 for PS4, considering I haven't opened it yet...

I'd also add buying the X-Box One at launch. Outside of 8 hours of DR3 & 3 hours of Titanfall that thing is a huge paperweight right now.

Re: Recent regret purchases...
I love Infamous. It's no more repetitive than Crackdown and people ate that shit up. Then again reading the Infamous thread it looks like most plowed through whereas I only do a couple of hours every few days.
I've slowed my purchasing so no regrets as of late.

Re: Recent regret purchases...
the free game, although I barely played the other free game I got (Super Sony Smash), and I got a bigger memory card, so I probably would regret the bundle, except it was still less than the price of the Vita stand-alone (which I do not regret).
