Valve owns Steam though. I don't think most people have issues with Epic putting their games only on their own launcher.
The thing most people don't like is that Epic is paying third-party companies to only put their games on Epic launcher or to delay the Steam release.

Can I still use Steam as a front end launcher for games bought on Epic's store like you can with most other launchers?

I don't mind the other store fronts that are out there, I think it's good to have competition rather then let Valve run the show. I don't find it that difficult to have the handful now, whether it be Blizzard Launcher, EA Origin, or Steam. And maybe the 1 or 2 games I have on UPlay

So is anyone here into old school gaming and not have a GOG account? I’ve accumulated several free duplicate codes of vintage games over the past year, and some of them expire this week. This is old stuff like Fantasy General and other 1990s games. If you’re active in GOG you’ve probably already got these codes, but perhaps someone here would be new to GOG (so much better than Steam imho) and would appreciate some old school gaming. I’d prefer to pass the codes along to someone here, my home away from home, than any other site, and to an older active poster, but let me know if you’re interested. Merry Christmas friends.

I've been on the GOG bandwagon since they started, but mostly for old Sierra and LucasArts type games. Hope you find a home for the codes you're giving away

Code sent, let me know if it worked. I think expired codes would either delete themselves or show me a warning, but I’m not sure.
I’d try that one, please!

AMD announced their new high end card, the Radeon VII for $699 coming Feb 7th.

Nvidia announced their RTX 2060 a couple days ago too at $350.

Graphics card prices are wild. I miss the $300 range being their 70 series cards.
The 3rd gen Ryzen looks interesting too, i'm still happy with my Ryzen 7 1700.

First time I can't find a single thing on Steam that I want to buy.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
Steam Summer Event is kind of lame this year. Earned 200,000+ points in the game quests, but can't redeem them because "capacity" isn't enough and they only give you 100 capacity per $1 you spend, so I'd have to spend over $2,000 to utilize the points I've earned else I simply lose all of the points. Managed to level up the Badge though 76 times, which increased my Steam level from 58 to 65.
Spent $35 buying 6 games:
Winter and Summer sales of last year I purchased a bunch of stuff.

Has or is anyone playing ….Eve: Online.....other day just checking game sites and there was a lot about the recent "Invasion" that caught everyone completely by surprise and sent everyone back to defend their bases. I've never really watched any of it and was always under the impression it was all PvP. But after watching some beginner videos, hitting the official site, I've become interested....but it does seem quite involved. But I've always liked space sims and Eve sounds and looks huge at every level.

The new player retention rate is only like 10% after the first week. The developers are working to improve that.

Here's some links with advice for new players:

EVE Online is a famously difficult game to start, play, and master. Data shared during the keynote revealed that EVE’s player retention rate over the first week a player joins the game is only around 10%. A full 89.74% of new players who sign up for EVE Online quit within the first seven days. CCP Burger said that CCP plans to dedicate additional developers to attempt to solve this issue for the remainder of the year and beyond. Improving a player’s first impression of the game will not be an easy task and will likely require a massive amount of coordination between game developers, the CSM, and even the average EVE player....
Currently, CCP has a support program for new players through which Game Masters reach out to rookies to offer advice and explain the game’s systems. CCP Falcon said in the future this program will also include a sort of grief counseling for players’ first ship loss.
