I think the app connects you to their online ordering. If i had to guess, you can use the Kinect to "make" a pizza.

Yeesh, the DVD audio sync is terrible. Watched The Little Mermaid today and the video was at least 7 seconds ahead of the audio. Not that my kid cared, but dayum.

HDMI straight to TV - no receiver in the way.

You're doing it wrong. I wonder the multitasking, VMs, are the cause. Next time you are having this issue, try to unplug your Xbox One from electricity, wait one minute and plug it again, and then play the movie. See if there's still delay. I see a few "Out of Memory" errors in COD from time to time. And yes, it "crashes" to home. Last week I was unable to load COD, so I looked up online and that was the fix that I found. And yes, it worked. I'm sure that's something that can't be fixed by software, memory leakings, VM exclusivity or stuff like that.

I watched This is the End on DVD on my XO last night. Audio was only a fraction of a second out of sync. I noticed it, but my wife did not. That said, I'm not using 24Hz mode, since the TV it's connected to doesn't support it.

For that big of a delay, turn off 25Hz mode and see if it makes a difference. I know not everyone has this problem, but man it's distinct enough that you'd think it'd be a bigger deal than it is.

The Xbox One problems seem minor compared to the fiasco that is the PS4. Have had two PS4s and both shit the bed.

Haven't had a single issue with my Xbox One, although I don't use it for bluray movies.

Microsoft likes for you to get used to your console for awhile before the issues hit ie. RROD

Oh I had a RROD launch xbox. Although it took awhile, microsoft eventually did the right thing, admitted a problem and extended the warranties. I will bet you never hear a peep from sony other than these problems affect less than whatever percent of consoles which is within spec for new hardware.

If politics and celebrity indescretions are any indication, it has been shown that in this country if you admit fault and own up to your screwup, the american people are typically a forgiving sort.

We're getting pretty hypothetical here, though.

I'm not defending Sony or the problems at all, and I'd be pissed beyond all description if something like this happened to me. As someone whose PS3 YLOD'ed (outside of the warranty period!), I'm right there with you. ....but your PS4s are very much under warranty and, by all rights, Sony should take care of you. No one outside of Sony knows how widespread the problems are, but they don't appear to be anywhere near as pervasive as the RRoD. ('Course, it's early yet...)

It's justified to be upset about what's happened with these early consoles. It's justified to be concerned about what may happen given the problems with some of these early consoles. It's justified to be upset if they're dismissive of you in the warranty period about taking care of these problems. I think it's very premature to get upset about problems that may or may not occur down the road based on these early units, though.

The more I read this thread and the PS4 thread, the happier I am that have have a large backlog of games and decided to wait. I have already decided to wait at least 2 years and it is looking like the smart move for myself at this time.

You can also manually close any apps that are still running by selecting their tile on the Home screen, pressing the Menu button (the one that used to be Start), and choosing Quit. I try to do this regularly.

Thank you!

I had a weird lockup in AC multiplayer and was trying to puzzle out a way to kill the app versus turning off the system.

Personally, I'm chomping at the bit for some next gen gaming, but I can't find PS4's anywhere (not that I'm looking very closely, just casually), and I'm still not sold on the XO. Still don't like spending the extra hundred for Kinect, which I don't want, and I really dislike that the hard drive isn't something I can upgrade.

That being said, even when PS4's become more widely available, I may still hold off, simply because my time is so limited that I'm not sure it's worth it to spend $400+. If I only have a few hours a month (at most) to game, I might as well work on all the cool games I didn't play in this past gen.

XBox One showed up in my Amazon Gold Box. 5% off so 474.05. Kind of tempted, but I agree with some of the posts above that I'm glad I waited since both consoles seem to be a bit wonky and have bits and pieces not working completely right. Even something like blu-ray playback being iffy bugs me.

They are not perfect, neither are the old ones, but most of the people that got any, or both, of the new consoles are really happy about them.

Specially when you have both generations, you can see the differences and it's big.

Really? This probably belongs in another thread, but I'm not seeing the huge step up, though it's probably understandable considering it's still a launch lineup. No real must-have games, and a ton of ports. Of course, I'm still bitter that they prettied up NBA 2K14 but didn't port over all the features; I expect that out of EA, but not the 2K franchise.

I'm sure i'd be happy overall, but without any killer games i'd probably be annoyed more often then I'd like. And I don't think the difference would be that big for me, since I can play most of the multiplatform games already on my PC.

I actually upgraded my PC in December 2012, and have been playing the latest games with all the eye candy, Far Cry 2, Tomb Raider, etc.

So the upgrade wasn't in the graphical side. For me it has been more in the server side. I started playing COD:Ghosts in the Xbox 360, and noted the difference in multiplayer with the upgrade.

I like it. I don't like it enough to pay more than the cost of the game itself, but I like it.
