Maybe it's just me, but that controller makes me a little dizzy just looking at it. I don't mind the colors, but don't like the design at all.
Also, I kinda thought they might go all out and release a limited edition designed bundle to increase some sales, but a controller is a small step I guess. Guess we'll have to wait for Halo 5 for the next design, unless they release that white one in retail at some point.

I like it... if I can get it via Best Buy's GCU, I'm in.
Edit - ah, it's just the controller, I thought it was a game / controller bundle. I still might buy it though.

Nobody bought Xbox One in December because DRM and M$ and NSA and-- oh, wait...
http://www.polygon.com/2014/1/16/531...month-npd-says
"Microsoft's new Xbox One was the bestselling console in the United States during the month of December, according to NPD Group data, selling more than 908,000 units in its second month on the market.
While Microsoft publicly released NPD sales numbers for the month, Sony Computer Entertainment declined to provide specific data, saying in a statement, "PlayStation 4 remains the cumulative leader for next gen console sales in the U.S. since the launch on November 15. "

Yeah, it's hard to buy a PS4 when you can't find one
Seriously though, I don't know what the hell is going with Sony's production. They need to figure out what MS is doing and follow suit.

More stats from NPD:
- Xbox One YTD 2013: 4.8M retail games vs. 4.2M for PS4. COD & BF4 both sold better on XO
- exclusive SW sales for XO: 1.5M units vs. 599K for PS4.
- specifically, DR3 526K, Forza 457K, RYSE 431K (most purchased by chuckd21 for friends)
- software attach rate higher on XO than PS4.
Aaron Greenberg says they don't know digital sales, which is BS, since MS controls ALL digital sales on XO. They absolutely know that number. I don't get why they wouldn't share it.
Funny that XO sold more games per console than PS4. I thought this big black box was only for TV and football.

I'm glad that both consoles are doing remarkably well, and I'm also glad that Sony is outselling MS worldwide. Come on, MS, step up your competitiveness with deals and services.

Both consoles are doing good. That's great.
Until Sony can manufacture more PS4s, more quickly, it's Microsoft land here.

And the 3DS is destroying them both.
But yeah, PS4 sold more in November and both consoles are selling pretty much as fast as they can make them. Do they release online subscriber (Live vs. Plus) numbers, that'd be interesting.
The other weird next gen related anecdote I have is that the PS4 camera is as impossible to find as the system, maybe even moreso. Lack of supply, or proof that people want a camera? I dunno.

I should have hung onto my PS4 camera instead of returning it to Best Buy when I found I couldn't extend the cord with a standard USB 3.0 extension. Who knew they'd be in such high demand. Everyone wants to broadcast themselves playing video games except me, apparently.

Yes, this adds perspective. As good as these consoles are doing, 3DS is doing better.
Not to nitpick or anything, but PS4 had twice as much time "in November" than XO. Damn right it sold more. PS4 sold about 40% more consoles overall in 2013, but that's in over 4 times as many markets (53 vs 13). Mind you, most of those markets are TINY, but that's an interesting difference. I don't think any of it really matters, and as long as both camps are "selling well" then all gamers win.
That's a more valuable piece of data than any of the other stuff, in my opinion. Now that Christmas has come and gone, I'm wondering if we'll see "device activation" numbers. Google always stresses "X number of device activations since Day Y" so these guys could do the same... only if the numbers make them look good, of course.

The comparison is stupid, both would be selling much better if product were readily available in all territories.

Has there been total US sales numbers? I thought there was just the global numbers (4.2 vs 3).
Seems like to me that Microsoft concentrated on the US where it knew it would be strong, so there's plenty of units available. While Sony spread the love to more countries, so we see less on the shelves locally. I saw 4 XBox One's sitting on the shelf last night at Target.

I was just going by the quote from the polygon article posted above (which admittedly came from Sony) saying that the PS4 cumulative sales in the US were more... I didn't see a way in any of the various articles to see the actual numbers, is there a link?
