I haven't had issues with disc playback on the One, but I haven't used it as much as the PS3. The PS3 is much better at maintaining a wifi connection, though.

So...
Which is the best bundle for a 7-year-old?
My brother wants to buy his kid the Elite bundle. I said that's pointless for a kid that age. Fallout or Halo bundles are out. Forza is a maybe. What else is there again?
Also, any particular games that are great for kids that age? He LOVES Minecraft (in that, he loves watching other people play it on YouTube and I think he's going to do his own streaming which... damn... I don't think that's a great idea for a 7-year-old and I don't think my brother 'gets' that but anyway...) so is the "Minecraft Story Mode" game also enjoyable?

That Lego movie game has been $7.50 on sale so it's not a great deal (though it's the only kid-themed bundle). Too bad they didn't at least include another one or two Lego games with it. My son much preferred Lego Marvel and Batman 3 to the Lego Movie game.
The 1 TB Gears/Rare Replay/Ori bundle isn't bad. He shouldn't play Gears, but the other ones are good. My son (who is 9) loves the Rare Replay stuff.
I heard really bad stuff about Episode 2 of Minecraft Story mode. I'll probably still pick it up for my boy, but not until a decent sale.

There IS a Kinect bundle with Zoo Tycoon, Dance Central, and Kinect Sports Rivals. All games that don't appear to be "great" but maybe good enough for his age range. If he gets that one plus a few extra games (Rare Replay, Ori, Forza 6 maybe?) then that might be alright...

Stampy Longnose... My daughter is obsessed with watching him and had a Stampy themed birthday cake one year.
I don't understand either but it has been harmless.
She loved the Rare Replay thing and doesn't play the Kinect Sports thing often on her own but it comes out when she has sleepovers. It lets all of them play and jump around and burn out some energy.
With friends she plays:
Kinect Sports, Lego Marvel, Kingdom for Kelflings, and Minecraft.

I don't understand the appeal of watching youtube Lets Plays either. I tried it a few times, and I always found it as boring as watching grass grow. I would rather play a game than watch someone else play a game.
I guess though that is just an "old man sitting on the porch" moment. The older generation not understanding the newer generation.

Mad Max and Grand Theft Auto V are good enough, right? I'm thinking it makes better sense to get the Holiday Bundle with those two free through Amazon rather than the Fallout 4 bundle which does not qualify. Surely Fallout 4 will be on sale for Black Friday somewhere.

Why does the thread title still say "cheapskates, resume rejoicing"?? Is this because nobody wanted the kinect? I recently had a change of heart and bought one (kinect) and I'm glad I never bought it to being with - it's garbage and I returned it the same day.
Or is it because of something else? Sorry, I'm late to the party and don't wan to read through 219 pages.

It was titled "cheapskates rejoice!" with one of the price drops, then the price (briefly) went back up, and it was retitled "cheapskates, resume rejoicing!" when the price dropped back down again.

I would have been pissed if I bought the bundled version - sorry but the kinect really is garbage - I think so anyway.

I do think the Kinect is excellent for Skype and voice control of the console ("Xbox On" turning on your console, TV/PJ, and Receiver is kind of cool) but otherwise... ehhhhh... nothing special. The motion controls were annoying more than anything, as it always kept thinking my cat was my hand.
I haven't had mine plugged in since I moved the XO to my projector, but after I move again, I'll be able to hook it back up again.

Agreed, the Kinect voice control works pretty good. I don't use mine for the video side at all anymore though.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Kinect has saved me from manually entering codes for DLC bundled with physical games like three or four times at least. Figure that's 25 characters per code, $1 per character entered and I've just about broken even already!
