^ Are you plugging it into the USB port on the side, or the back? I plug it into the side, and it does the same thing, but I haven't tried the back. That said, I just leave one controller plugged in while I use the other one. When the one I'm using dies, I swap them while the system is still on, so it's not too big of an issue.
It is the side one.

This may seem like a dumb question, but is there any way to prevent the console from turning on when you plug in a controller to charge? I always turn off the system, then plug the controller in to recharge, and it seems to turn back on (by that time the TV is off and my harmony controls everything, so I haven't checked to be sure, but the light definitely turns back on).
Also, it seems like in the last month or so my harmony stopped turning my xbox one off consistently.

But my harmony hasn't been turning it off consistently, so I use the controller to turn it off... anyway, not a huge deal, but with the cord they give you pretty short anyway, I don't see why that's desired functionality to automatically turn the system on when you plug in a controller...

Logitech has updated their Xbone profile so if you go online, delete and re-add the device, and redo your activities it should work now. I didn't want to redo all my stuff so I just added an additional button press of "Power Off" when I exit my Xbone activity.

Early adopters get screwed again, fire sale, etc.

Actually that isn't early adopters getting screwed, just new incentives which is the norm.
Early adopters getting screwed would be them abandoning ship, or dropping Kinect 2 support.
Plus it's the Forza: Buy-as-you-go entry.

I think you could make a case that 3 months into a console's life cycle is too soon for incentives. I don't particularly care, but I invite you to seek out this place called "the Internet" where a great many people are losing their collective "shit".

I don't think so, at all. Most people know what they're getting into with a launch console, anyone in the group that is losing their collective "shit" has obviously never bought any technological item in the past.
Now if the console is $299 by November of this year ($200 price cut, like the Saturn after 1 year), I can see a little bit of frustration. Until then, with a single game incentive, not so much.
Plus they had to find a way to make the non-Titanfall consoles sell.

I feel like I'm supposed to be enraged, but after actually playing Forza at Best Buy one day, I just don't care. I mean, it's got baked-in lighting, guys. BAKED-IN.

I was sure it was going to be Ryse, but yeah, it probably will be Forza.
I actually tried the demo at BB and liked it.

What's funny is that while Sony is 2 million consoles sold ahead of Microsoft, Microsoft is "only" $400m behind in sales. While that's not chump change, these new bundles could easily catch up. Microsoft is probably kicking themselves for not offering a game with the console, given the $100 difference in price tag. Or maybe they know exactly what they're doing. Either way, I now own both, so I can have the best of both worlds soon.
Next up, a gaming PC, but that's a couple of years away.

...especially if they play with the in-game currency. Retail copies can get cars for so many points/tokens, free-to-play costs more...
The idea's that instead of the rendering system doing everything in real-time, some of the reflections/lighting/etc. are calculated in advance. The lighting you're seeing is pretty, but it might not be as accurate as it would be if everything were being done in real-time.
Honestly, though, I can't see it. My only lighting complaint in Forza is when I'm driving a convertible with a red interior, and half the windshield is covered in red as a result.

I would have to ask a rich car enthusiast to tell me the game is crap, but I guess I am too worried trying to win a race to even notice. It's pleasant on my eyes, but I'm not into racing games for the most part.

I love racing games like Need for Speed or even Grid. I just find the Forza and Gran Turismo types to be bland.

Forza 5 isn't as bland as I thought it would be. I like racing my friends or their shadows, drivatar, etc. It's a straight forward racer, yes, but I get a thrill racing. I will have to get NFS: Rivals. I might get that for PS4.

Microsoft wants to make up some lost revenue. These bundles are good for Microsoft. It's just too bad Forza or another game wasn't included at launch.

Well, we knew they had to do something to get rid of the vanilla XOs sitting on the shelves with the Titanfall bundle coming out next week.

I get what you mean. I'm more on the arcade racer side of things, so Forza doesn't do a lot for me. My fiancée leans much more towards sim racers, so she's pretty much obsessed. I think she would've preferred AI instead of the compromised Drivatar angle, though. They don't really drive like actual people (including the fake versions of friends of mine who I know don't smash into each other at very single turn). She also gets a little annoyed that there's no extra reward for finishing 1st.
