Great job on mastery test. The next few shouldn't be a problem for you.

The Archwing BP is cooking as of last night, so hold on to your Tellurium for now. We'll need 10 Tellurium each for the 3 parts once the BP is done (takes 3 days). You'll also need 4 total to build them yourself.

I should have you covered on the prime part you need. I just ask for parts with same value in duckets.

I started a character. Mag. It's fun, but it's not nearly as smooth or pretty as Destiny. Appears to have more substance though.

If you just started then it means you're on Mercury I'm guessing. You haven't even scratched the surface...no pun intended. When you get to the other planets like Earth or Mars the landscapes especially outdoors are something to see. Trust me...I came over from the 360 and played all the Halo games and Halo players would be envious of a fraction of what Warframe has.

Besides the worlds, getting in a group of four with maxed abilities say on a Defense...now you're talking some serious action. Also get someone to take you on a "Tower" run...

When you get Mag up to where she can start doing some serious stuff then it all changes. Then you want to get another frame or another gun or sword. One thing about this versus Destiny is...about everything you collect or build can be used, needed for something, converted or sold. You won't find much here you actually collect or get that just sits and cannot be used.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

The biggest disadvantage you'll have is your lack of interaction, because it really really helps to have a guide as you get started.

Just ask here before spending any platinum on anything, and the answer will almost always be "only on slots".

Also, max out your "field of view" in settings, and only use the right quarter of the swipe pad (it's plenty responsive).

Destiny is prettier but it doesn't even begin to approach the variety or substance of Warframe, and I would say that Warframe has better gameplay overall once you learn to parkour and use your powers. It also has deeper more interesting skill trees and actual options as you upgrade your weapons. And if you decide Mag isn't your bag, I have great news...21 more character, not including Primes.

But it's a slow burn initially and can be a bit overwhelming, but give it some time, and it will hook you.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

I'll send you a clan invite Slider. That way we can see when you're on and text you in game. And if you hit mastery rank 2 (where you get the ability to trade), I'll slip you a few core mods for your warframe and primary weapon. Look for the invite in your in-game mailbox (imagine that).

It also occurs to me that we could party chat, so you could hear me, and you could just text questions in game. Or...OR....you could just get a god damn mic.

And even beyond me, there are always about 10 clan people on every night, and they're always willing to help.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

And to add to what Chess said...this game is good solo but getting in with a group with four doing runs, Towers, farming or alerts makes the game so much better. And like Chess, you'll find plenty help with everything from getting Mods (which some are really important), farming certain materials and help leveling your frame and weapons.

I would say just play as much as you can to not just get use to the frame but learn the maps and places. You can do some over and over again at first but finishing the storyline does help so to open up other planets and maps. Like Destiny, you need resources but it's far more greater here and you can never have enough especially at first. Need help with a mission or opening up something you can find it easy, here, clan and just random groups...which can be a hit or miss.

Chess...have no idea about Trinity last night. One moment I was hitting 2-3 targets in a row and the next getting "Invalid Target" when I can clearly see Grineer walking right in front of the reticle. I was spamming the button (holding R1 in and hitting the square button) over and over. I would move a little left or right and if nothing turn to the other cave. That's probably the first time in 6-8 months I dusted off Trinity and actually done anything with her. Just another I need to get use to and get down.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

Clan invite sent on my way out the door, and a couple more tips:
  1. You'll see people running and sliding a lot. They do that because sliding doesn't make you lose velocity and it also doesn't burn stamina. When you get good at it, you'll move much more quickly through levels and will learn to chain sprinting and sliding into wall runs and jump/kick/melee combos in various badass and graceful ways.
  2. Use your powers. Often. This isn't Destiny where abilities take forever to charge and are used sparingly. In Warframe, powers are meant to be used. In Mag's case, her cheapest (in terms of energy consumption) power to use is called "Pull", and it's equal parts useful and hilarious, especially in the early game.
  3. You can play this game as a pure shooter, or a pure hack and slash, or rely almost entirely on your powers, but you shouldn't do any of those. It's best if you can balance the 3 in a way that's fun for you. With Mag, for instance, you might see a group of enemies and shoot one or two, then pull them toward you with Pull, which also knocks them down, stuns and does some damage, and you might finish them with your sword or AOE them with Crush. I see people play Warframe like it's a pure shooter sometimes (looking at you Buzz ), and I know they aren't getting the most out of the game, because that's not what it's about.
  4. Customize the colors on your Warframe and weapons. It's a thing you can do. Freedom.

And Buzz: Good work with Trinity last night. I know we sounded impatient at times but hopefully not too much so. Trust me, with our rep farm builds, when we run out of energy, we are pretty much screwed. Those Excaliburs have no defense mods on them whatsoever.

I'm really glad we found a frame other than Rhino where you can contribute, because it opens the door for other less experienced clan members to play Rhino.

Edit: Seriously, you were doing fine. Don't sweat it. Except for that part where you realized you didn't have a potato on her. I reserve the right to give you a bit of a hard time for that!

Don't hold back on that one...that deserves The Warframe Knucklehead Award of the Month. I think what confused me was the maxed amount of points allowed was showing (48). So I just was looking at she must be around Level 22-24 and still a ways off from 60.. When I realized it what it really was....I actually thought about just calling it a night for being Stuuuuuuuupid!

I'll try to get home at lunch today and run the Mastery Test 10. I'll bring in Loki, use his cloak and use the Soma. I've got a build for him with a max Energy of 452 so I can spam his cloaking without worrying about energy. Dying to see The Relays......

oh...thanks for the trade last night. This better be worth it because it IS expensive. I've got to let go a Orokin Reactor for the other one later tonight...had to build one.

You crack me up Buzz!

@ Slider. If you really give this an honest go and get to say...mastery rank 3...I have a special gift that I think you'll find useful. Buzz can tell you about my gifts. They are legit.

Or if some other Warhawker beats him to it...maybe Cruz or R2?

No need to wait for Buzz to chime in... gifts from Chess are fo' realz dawg! He helped me out immensely when I started out in Warframe. Showed me the ropes, offered guidance, gave me a crap ton of mods and gifted me this lil' ole frame called Rhino Prime. It is one of the best frames you can have due to its versatility since it is great for people just starting out all the way up to most end game missions.

Chess, can't thank ya enough!

NP Goot!

Need to get you back in game more.

The clan has been pretty active lately, especially with the update and new clan research (archwing and arch-gun) and Syndicates.

If I keep getting craptastic purple weapons, useless energies, and no exotics on my NF/Raid runs (essentially crap for my time), then that day will come sooner than you think. Also, I have a feeling The Order will be occupying my time starting next Friday.

That day has come for me which is why I'm back in Warframe. At least I'm collecting and doing stuff that I can Use, Break Down, Sell, or Trade....unlike Motes of light or Ascendant Shards not to mention a 4th Ice Breaker, another Exotic Helm for the Titan I have, some Legendary guns I don't need, my 4th Titan Gloves out of Crota or 3rd Warlock Chest both of which I'll end up breaking down for even more Shards that by the time The Wolves Den DLC comes out will be useless like all the VoG stuff we collected.

So I think I'm fully caught up with the new update other than waiting for the new archwing to build. It's stealth, so that might be interesting. Hopefully the event will kick off soon and we'll get the void trader.

Had a funny discussion yesterday about being able to color your guns purple in Warframe...just in case you miss Destiny.

Not only "Legendary Purple" but also "Exotic Gold" if you like....not to mention about a couple of hundred other colors let alone all the color combinations....

Off today again....the Ice & Sleet was the worst we've seen in 20 years here. About 50-60 mile North in Kentucky they got about 7-9 inches and their roads are better than ours.

Rats....looks like another Warframe Day.....may even try the Mastery Rank 11 Test. Kanjji is suppose to have her Archwing ready, need to farm stuff, etc...

I have both my gun and melee for the Acrhwing maxed out. What two others I can look at and go ahead and build that's not to bad. My starter Archwing is only Level 24-25 still.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

Well, there are two other Archwings, 4 more Archwing Guns and and 3 other Archwing melee weapons.

Of that bunch, you can build the Iztal "stealth" Archwing right out of the dojo. All of the other stuff, you have to get the parts from Archwing missions. The one weapon that's really blown me away is the Centaur melee. It's stupid fast and does massive critical hit damage. Very fun.

The best Archwing is probably the Elytron, for which you get the parts from the Interception on Uranus. That's a damn hard level though, or at least it can be if you don't stumble into a good group.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

So the new archwing (Iztal) is pretty darn fun. I only got one game in with it this morning and unlocked 3 powers.
  1. The first is a sort of invisible dash (think Slash Dash or Zephyr), which is useful for covering ground to get to an enemy and melee before they can shoot you.
  2. The second is invisibility, but you have to stay stationary. It's useful if you're taking damage and just want a quick shield recharge, and I took a position in interception while enemies flew by me, which was cool.
  3. The third is called "cosmic crush", and it pulls enemies toward you, again great for melee. It also pulls resources, so it's great when you're in a big fight and need to quickly recharge your energy or if you're collecting loot after a big fight.
  4. I haven't unlocked the fourth power yet, and I'm not looking it up, because I want to be surprised.

The BP and parts are all researched in the dojo and are there for the taking.

PSA: Operation Eyes of Blight starts today on PS4/XBO

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Operation_Eyes_of_Blight

Final reward is Imperator Vandal gun for Archwing, and FWIW, I think the Imperator is the best Arch Gun.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

So I take it we're doing Archwing stuff tonight....

Is this something almost everyone can get in despite your rank?

Also I grabbed some stuff just to level up...Ether Daggers, Karyst Dagger and Heat Sword. Are any of them worthwhile to keep on hand. Seems like the Heat Sword is actually not bad at all. Dual Daggers...already have the Prime Fang. Also I assume the Furax Fists are not worth keeping? I don't have all the parts yet for the Ankyros Prime.

FWIW...kanji isn't so much mad as probably sometimes a bit frustrated. I some of the stuff we all do you blink everyone is already at the extraction point and she is hallway back. She asks questions about the mods, forma and "Potato's" all the time. I think she doesn't want to bog you down with the simple stuff when she's hearing all these other questions and talk about mods, missions, Warframes, etc...in which case she may leave the party and go and do something else. It's almost like with Destiny...everyone trying to get in a run with Crota except with Warframe it's Mods, Forma, Weapons, Missions, what you need, where to go, go here for getting this part, or over there for something you need for this, etc...

I don't think she's mad...more like she's wanting to drive 40mph taking everything in and getting her mind around it while some want to drive 80mph...if you catch the meaning.

I do, and I can sense it when she's not keeping up and not having fun as a result.

The credit weekend was just a bad time because we were all about getting those towers done quickly. Will make a point to walk her through some stuff more deliberately.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

Last night I begin to really realize we have a good group going and I'm starting to feel a bit more at ease running with everyone. At a few times with all of us in the party several things were going on without so much of any major issue and everyone plugging spots and holes. Even when I was faced with a dilemma of needing just 1800 points to hit the next level with Hexis, Ready offered to help, then kanjji jumped in followed by Diecast (or could've been Airwolf) on a Defense...all which really didn't need to do it.

I know this happens in Destiny but outside of Crota, NF and Weekly's there's not much. With Warframe it's about everything, tower, rep farms, special missions, alerts, needing certain parts or resources. I think it will get better when everyone including myself can just get to the next level(s) where you're not relied on so much...like doing the Archwing on Uranus where we spent more time running and hiding than engaging. I would not mind going back there and trying to get the rest of the Elytron parts...which thanks again for carrying us.

On a side note good to see Martin (Sith) on last night and kanji seemed a bit more upbeat. For a time there it seemed like back in "older times" when we all first started playing and now with even a more solid group in tow. After you left I was about to sign off and checked the friends...she was back on but helping the friend who just came over from the Crota Group she runs with. Who knows...we may have another convert join.....

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

Yeah, that was pretty cool. It's really awesome that you're able to play Trinity for rep now, because I was pretty easily able to put together rep teams from the party chat without even having to jump in myself, and you guys were killing it. It helps that there's just always something to do or something going on in the game. I think it was either Sith or Diecast who mentioned the other day that DE does a great job of adding relevant content and new activities so you always have something interesting to do or something cool to go after.

It also helps that you can communicate on multiple levels in the game and can drop in and out at your leisure without committing to hours at a time. Our group is always in party chat, but we also use the clan text chat quite a bit, and you can also always grab players off of recruiting. It's simply a more social experience than most other games...and one in particular. This thread facilitates some discussion about the game, and how we're progressing, but the game doesn't rely on communication outside of the game at all...unlike some other games.

And no problem on the Archwing assist. When I got booted, I thought you guys were going to lose everything you'd gotten to that point, but luckily, it let me back in with enough time to pull off the save and you got an Elytron part. Hopefully you both got a few solid levels in your Itzals, and just so you know, that particular Archwing (unlike the other 2) doesn't need a lot of work in terms of forma. I only put one in mine (a dash), and it's good to go.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free

If the Archwing has one fault it's the time it takes to level. I got mine about 1.5 levels...and yes the Iztal has a potato on it, just taking forever. If it weren't for the cloaking I'd probably died four times as in that many minutes. I literally parked myself around the spot to take it back and was shooting Grineer almost point blank sometimes. Able to turn and stay cloaked was cool.

I don't mind playing Trinity at all. In fact I'm becoming more at ease with her and what she can really do. But I do need to get that one Mod leveled up so I can put my Excalibur in the rotation. I really haven't done much with him
