No worries.
Rhino is awesome, and we'll definitely get you one, but I don't recommend spending a "reactor" on him with Rhino Prime out there. Plus you can make a regular Rhino plenty functional even through late game without a reactor.
I can actually give you most of the parts for Rhino Prime.
Also, Mag is more of a tank than Excalibur.

I played this for a bit tonight on the XO and it was buggy as hell. Warping into the stage. Huge amounts of lag. Super annoying message board in the middle of the game.
Seems like it has potential but tonight it was annoying and made me look forward to Destiny.

We had a share on the PS4 when we all started out so I wouldn't make a harsh judgement off the bat.I'm sure updates and patches are already in the works just like we've alwys got. The game rocks...I've played it more than some disc base games. I hate to say but the timing release for the XO couldn't have been worse with Destiny next week.

Warframe may have ruined Destiny for me. Love the variety of characters and powers, and the mod system is amazing. From what I've seen, Destiny seems a little shallow in comparison.
Hope I'm wrong.

Do you guys recommend any in-game options I should tweak? Aiming, hud, assist, etc. I never got used to the touchpad for powers so just remapped them to the D-pad and will give that go for a bit to see how I like it.
Thanks

You are wrong...plenty of space for both Warframe and Destiny. No question Warframe has the edge on being extremely deep character and weapon wise. Both seem to have some outstanding worlds and environment. Warframe you get a neat pet dog and Destiny you get a neat rocket bike. Both have ability for SP but is geared for coop no doubt. I think the over-lapping of teams playing in the same area and the "Raid Missions" with Destiny will not be a cakewalk...which some in Warframe is not either. Destiny if anything will appeal to the "Halo" crowd...such as myself...who has been waiting for this since an Easter Egg first appeared in ODST. We shall find out in Five Days...

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free
The only button remapping I do is that I move the "sprint" button from the left stick to the right stick. You have to hit it so often in this game, it can actually give your left thumb some fatigue, and I find that I never need to aim precisely and sprint at the same time.
I also recommend the option to show other players and their health on your HUD. It shows you their status in-game, and it also shows their mastery rank, which will give you a better idea who you're dealing with and how much help they'll be.
I remove the power dots from my reticule since they are on the hud already, and I find them distracting.
I mess around with depth of field and light bloom sometimes, but I've kept them on default lately.
Turn aim assist OFF along with any enemy tracking for melee. Both will cause more problems than they fix, and the controls are spot on, so you won't need the help.
Think that's it.
I'll definitely be on tonight, if you want some guidance and some help getting better gear and mods.

So I got a blueprint for an Orokin Catalyst last nite during an alert. Took 4 different tries with random groups before we finished the mission. This Orokin boosts weapons I think it said? But need the mats first anyway.
I have 3 frame abilities loaded into my frame but how do I tell if it is mapped to power A B C or D? I swipe up on the touchpad trying to use one ability and I end up using a different one.
I have a few cards that I think I can fuse together to make stronger cards. Is that recommended in the early stages or wait? Save my fusion cores? I think I can fuse two 40% damage to make 80%?
Thanks

The way the "mapping" part works is....
Up for first ability
Down for Second Ability
Left for Third Ability
Right for Forth Ability
...just remmember almost all the "Bread & Butter" abilities are usually the last and always swipe to right. As to the others it might be first, second or third and you just need to know which you use.
The Orokin Catalyst boost weapons & companions from 30 to 60. The Orokin Reactor boost Warframes from 30 to 60. Not all weapons or Warframes will get one nor need one. Use wisely....

What Buzz said. Swipe up is usually the simplest most direct attack, and swipe right is always the "ultimate". The other two vary from frame to frame, but they are always the same direction on individual frames.
Yes, the catalyst is for weapons, and you'll want to save that one on your first "go to" weapon. Depending on your mastery rank, that might be the Soma, or better yet, it might be a Prime weapon. I think I can give you the parts for a Bronco Prime, which is a top tier secondary weapon that can be used as a primary, and I have most of the parts for a Boltor Prime, which is IMO the best primary in the game.
It's never a bad thing to rank up your mods, but there are better and worse ways to go about it. I need to talk you through some of that.

Thanks again Chess and Buzz! I really appreciate the time you took to help this noob out. Hopefully, you got some sleep.
My Rhino is cooking and will be done by the time I get off of work. My short term plan is to level up Excalibur and the Braton I bought to 30. Then I will switch to Rhino and go back to my shottie. After that, who knows....

No worries. Enjoyed playing with you. I hated to rush you through some of those levels, but I knew we had a decent little checklist to get through and was glad we got most of it done.
Your Rhino won't actually be done today. Once the three parts are finished, you'll have to buy a Rhino blueprint in the store (for credits) and combine the parts. That build process will take a full 3 days (72 hours).
My suggested plan for you would be:
You should also use the method I showed you to freeload some towers with people on the recruiting channel with an emphasis on getting parts for the following: Rhino Prime, Bronco Prime, Boltor Prime. You can find the correct locations for parts in the wiki, and you'll get a ton of credits for running them along with XP and cores.
Here's Rhino Prime's wiki page: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Rhino/Prime
And you see his parts are in:
Survival rotation B is every 15 minutes and rotation c is every 20 minutes.

My suggested plan for you would be:
- Get your mastery test passed and then hopefully another
- Once you do that you'll be able to make some trades, and I can give you an aura mod along with some other basic mods
- Continue to get Excalibur leveled to 30 for mastery rank
- Continue to knock out low level missions, but don't repeat them
- Focus your fusing (cores and credits) on the mods I'm going to give you (Streamline, Intensify, Continuity) along with Serration and Hornet Strike
- Get your first Kubrow built

I failed the mastery test again. I need to watch the videos as you suggested. It must be timed as I get to wave 3, have 1 enemy left and then the fail mission appears.
Thanks for the suggestions/tips!
Some other questions:
1. Freeloading... the people looking for help won't mind that I am low level? I won't be a burden? They won't be as forgiving as you and Buzz. :P
2. Kubrow... I read the wiki and see that they require maintenance (loyalty, stability). Are they a pain to maintain? Should I get a Sentinel instead?
Thanks

Vauban is a great frame and is normally kind of a pain to get. Don't miss him.
Hammershot and Blaze are solid and rare nightmare mods (more on those later)
Absolutely, no shit, don't miss Thursday. You will use those corrupted mods (more on those later) extensively, and getting them now would be a great head start.
The stances on Friday are rare drops, so they're worth getting.
And the Forma and Potato are no-brainers. Will get into Forma later as well, but you basically use them to change polarity slots.

2. You're right. I actually think sentinels are objectively better, and they don't require any upkeep. The dogs are just new, so I have them on the brain. You should build a "Carrier" sentinel. The BP isn't cheap, but still cheaper than a dog.
I'm thinking it might make sense to get you in the clan, if you think you're going to play with any regularity. I'm a "general" in the NeoGAF clan, so I can invite you. There are often people running keys and helping each other, so you'll always have some help and won't have to worry about being "a burden".

Doh! I don't remember seeing a countdown timer. Good to know.
Cool, thanks!
Ok, will do. I will buy the BP from the market and start to farm what I don't already have from last night's run. Looks like I will have to do another Tower/Void run for control modules and the two class mods (Striker, Vacuum).
I will probably play a couple of times a week but my playtime for any game is pretty sporadic due to my work/home balance (and now that Destiny is out too). I would love to join but I don't want to take a spot from a more productive clan member. I leave that decision up to you.
Thanks, as always!
1. Once you have a Rhino (even without a potato) and a gun with a few mods, you won't be a burden. Meanwhile, if we cross paths again, I'll host a few keys for you. I also have most of the parts for Rhino Prime that I can give you. Think I'm only missing the BP or the helmet.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free
Yeah, I failed the first one my first try for the same reason. Simply didn't know there was a timer.
The first 3 mastery ranks are all timed with primary/secondary/melee IIRC.
You should only need one control module, and the class mods always come with sentinels, just like they do with frames.
I'll hold off for now and see how Destiny plays out, since they are kind of similar in ways.
Like you, I'll be on there a bit, but I suspect I'll always find my way back into Warframe for updates and new gear. I love the gameplay, and I find that it's perfect whether I want to just jump in for an hour or two (instance based missions) or play all night (lots to do).
I meant to tell you last night on PSN, but I have a full Rhino Prime (all 4 parts) if you want it. I could probably sell it, but platinum doesn't really mean much to me these days. He's a frame you could put a "potato" on now and use anywhere in the game. He's really the best possible starter frame IMO, and before there was a prime version of him, he was aways the first one I'd help new players grab.
You just need to work on your mastery rank so you can make trades. Also, your trades reset at 8PM EST, so if you time it right, you can use your number of trades (based on mastery rank) both before and after 8PM. But I guess that's pretty early your time.
With them giving out the corrupted mods on Thursday and giving you another Catalyst on Sunday, you could be off to an amazing start. With your two Catalysts, you should only need to buy one or two Reactors with platinum (probably for Nova and Rhino Prime), and you can save all of the rest of your starter platinum for slots.

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free
Upper left under the mini-map is always where your mission perameters are, whether it's life support in survival or timers.
I just love that you found time to play the night Destiny released. That's a good sign! And I saw your comment about the game speed. Yeah. Other games can feel sluggish after Warframe. The gun aiming speed is similar, but the movement and parkour stuff is night/day.
It's no problem. I give lots of stuff away and probably do more farming for other people than I do for myself at this point. Hell, I gave Buzz most of his Rhino Prime IIRC.
Ah. As late as we stayed up the other night, I was thinking you were Pacific or something, but now I'm thinking I remember you saying Chicago.
That would be the perfect way to do it, and the 8PM reset is kind of "a thing" that you'll want to understand. For instance, you get your first trading capability at mastery rank 2, but not until the reset, so it might be in your interest to "sneak in" mastery tests before 7PM your time. The daily reward thing is also based on the daily reset, so you can cover two days if you log in before and after 7PM.
You won't be able to trade until mastery rank 2, but when you hit it, you'll have two trades with three items each, and I think I plan to give you: 3 Rhino Prime parts, Rhino Prime BP, Energy Siphon (I have a spare one already maxed) and Streamline. With you getting the best of the corrupted mods this week from alerts (they don't normally come that way), you're really going to be in great shape. With Fleeting Expertise and Blind Rage, you could have your Rhino Prime within spitting distance of mine in a week or so.
I know, that's what I love about it too. You can get alot accomplished within an hour time frame. Like this week for example, it took me roughly an hour to get all 3 parts for the Vauban via the alerts. Luckily, I was in a good, random PUG who revived my butt a few times.
Wow, thanks! That would be totally awesome.
Not at all as I'm in Central Time. The issue for me is my playtime doesn't start until 1030PM after the kids and wife are asleep. So, I would just have log in early to do a trade before 7PM CST and then can do one later when I get on at 1030. That's doable as a trade wouldn't take much time at all. I could sneak it in.
Thanks again!

Re: Warframe (PC, PS4, XB1) - Ninjas Play Free
Had fun last night Goot. Sadly, we didn't get a ton done. Got your Vauban parts going, and that's good. Also got your Carrier cooking, and that's great. And we got the two nightmare mods.
It's like I said, you're getting hooked up early with some great gear and mods, but credits are going to be a limiting factor. Building new frames and especially leveling mods can get expensive in credits, and you simply haven't gotten enough time in the game to support your incredibly rapid progress. The catch 22 right now is that you need to run some towers for credits and prime parts (remember "/w username inv"), but until you get a good meat and potatoes frame, it's going to be hard to keep yourself in the fight. Under normal circumstances, the game is balanced in a way that you wouldn't need to grind for credits, but you've moved so quickly that we're hitting a bit of a wall.
I think my short term plan for you, assuming you have enough XP for mastery rank 2, would be:
The other 2 things I'd like to get done for you is that I'd like to help you get a Nova, and I think I know how to force the game to give you access to Pluto and Ceres, where you can farm credits at 20K per 5 wave defense (like we were doing last night).

- Hopefully you can slip on before 7 tonight and get mastery rank 2 done. Won't take 5 minutes.
- You'll have two trades tonight if you can get that done before the daily reset, and I outlined above what I want to give you (RP parts + mods).
- Don't build Vauban, because you're probably not going to potato him right away, and you need to conserve the credits and Orokin Cell for now.
- Get the three corrupted mod alerts
- Farm up the resources and credits to build Rhino Prime parts (listed here)
- Make sure you have everything you need for the actual build (3 Orokin Cells and 20K credits)
- Tomorrow, start his final cook and get the stance mod alerts
- Play Destiny for the next 3 days while Rhino cooks and forget Warframe exists other than the Forma/Catalyst alerts on Sunday.
- When Rhino is done on Monday night, buy and install an Orokin Reactor on him immediately for 20P, and the Warframe world is suddenly at your doorstep.

Thanks for writing up the action plan! Regarding Mastery Rank... I can't start Rank 2 until 9pm-ish due to the 24hr timer since I completed Rank 1 around that time. However, unless I fail miserably (now that I know it is timed, I will do better. can't believe I didn't see the timer before, doh!), I will get to Rank 2 tonight. Will also join PUGs to get the 3 mods via the Alerts.
Sweet, I love your Nova so can't wait to try her out. And the xtra credits will be nice too.
Thanks again!

Leveling up all of these mods is going to keep your credit pool in bad shape for quite a while. In order, I would focus on:
Will give you a maxed Energy Siphon
Fleeting Expertise to Rank 3
Streamline to max
Serration to whatever you can afford (eventually max, but you don't want to know the cost in credits and cores)
Intensify max
Stretch max
Narrow Minded to rank 7
Continuity to max
The reason for limiting the levels on Fleeting Expertise and Narrow Minded is that they are corrupted mods and have both positive and negative attributes, and I believe the levels above are the best balance for the mod if you only have one copy of it. You'll eventually want a max version of both for certain frames.

Chess, regarding Serration mod, IIRC mine is Damaged so should I still level it up or wait for one that I can level higher?
And are non-specific Warframe mods (like Serration, not Slash Dash, Javelin, etc.) inter-changeable between Frames or always show as available like mods for weapons do? E.g., equipped weapon mods show up as available when you are upgrading a new weapon so you don't have to remove them from the old weapon.
Thanks

Yes. Every mod that isn't specific to a frame or sentinel can be used on any other frame or sentinel just like weapon mods. All of the ones I list above can be equipped on all of your frames at the same time, and the only time you need more than one copy of a frame mod is for the few corrupted mods (Fleeting Expertise, Narrow Minded, Blind Rage) that perform well at different levels depending on the frame. I have two Fleetings that I use (3 and max), 2 Narrows (7 and max) and 3 Blind Rages (5, 7 and max).
