That’s a much better choice

That's big improvement for me. I've read DBH is pretty good, and I had zero interest in PES.

Nice! I almost bought it when it was last on sale.

I wish I hadn't just opened and started playing my copy of DBH a couple of weeks ago then. I only paid 20 for it but I would be trying to deal it now if it was still sealed. Will be nice to have Heavy Rain on PS4, wish that it included Beyond: Two Souls too though.

I bought Detroit at the first sale. Am playing through it now. Great game but it makes me SO anxious that I can only tackle it an hour at a time.

I'm alone here in being disappointed since I already own those two games and would have liked a soccer game as I don't have one on the PS4.

Ideally, they should have kept the soccer game and added DBH.

I recently finished Detroit and I know exactly what you're talking about! I generally played a single chapter from each of the three main characters in one gaming session. You've probably heard that the game will give you plenty of rope to hang some (or all) of your characters with awful endings. Though sometimes a "good" path takes you through some pretty awful territory. For example, the "Zlatko" chapter:

Spoiler:
When I failed to free Kara from the memory wipe machine, it felt cruel and awful for the game to force me to play as Zlatko's slave (which I was thinking was the game's protracted "game over" since I wasn't fast enough). Fortunately the game had another path for me to Kara and Alice to safety.

I didn't lose any of the 3 main characters on my first playthrough, but I did lose Alice (that one hurt the most) and Luther in the final chapter, and North and Simon before that. Replaying now.

I really enjoyed Detroit. That would make my top 10 last year.

I'm happy they decided to change up the July Plus games. I'm also really glad that I didn't buy Detroit when it was on sale.

So, how do I turn off motion smoothing on the Pro for DVD and Blu-ray playback?

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I was looking at the description of a new PS4 game on the PSN store:

"Unforgettably vivid cocktail from emotions, in which we’ve added everything to make a player fall out of reality for a while to receive exactly these bright and fresh emotions we’ve only experienced when were kids. The game will generously reward you for a desire to move actively – you can evade bullets, shut them down, and hide behind the objects while shooting back in your enemies.
Impressive spectrum of weapons (firearms, throwing weapons, and even futuristic arms) that will allow you to feel like an experienced shooter who is capable of dealing with hordes of attacking enemies alone.
We advise you to start from easy levels in order to receive more seamless gaming experience and get tired much lesser."

That sounds like some of the wild rants we get from time to time on here from spammers. I can't believe that is an actual description of a "professionally" released game.

Best I can tell, the PS4 doesn't have a setting like that, the TV does. I have found a couple of articles on optimizing your PS4 playback and they all recommend turning off the Motion Smoothing on your TV, noting about changing your settings in the PS4

I definitely have it off on my TV, unless the TV recognized the PS4 and self activated the smoothing function.

I’ll check my display again.

Is your PS4 plugged in to an HDMI input that you hadn't used before? Some TV's have different settings for each HDMI input.

Yeah, we moved recently and re-wired everything in different inputs (also got an HDMI switcher because of all our game systems).

PS+ for August is Sniper Elite 4 and Wipeout Omega Collection.

Sniper Elite looks like it could be fun. I doubt I'll stick with Wipeout very long. I've never really been into those kinds of games, but I'll give it a try.

Wipeout is an incredible collection, and amazing in VR, but it's also one of those games that if you were even barely interested you would have already bought at a steep discount some time ago.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I was interested in Wipeout during one of those sales but never pulled the trigger so I'm glad is part of the free games. I have no interest in Sniper Elite as is not my type of game.

Maybe I got spoiled getting the free PS4 and PS3 games but the PS+ games with only PS4 seems underwhelming to me.

Sniper Elite 4 has co-op. That would be a fun one for me to play with my best friend in HI.
