re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I might have asked this once before about buying movies and the quality of them on the PS Store...but just how is the HD versions? They have some on sale right now that are a pretty good deal but i wasn't sure. I did buy the GOT Seasons in HD and they seem pretty good but haven't bought a movie.

^ My advice is skip buying digital content in the PSN store. The video quality is just fine, but your purchase is only playable on a PS3 or PS4 (and maybe a PS Vita, if you have a super-huge memory card). If you buy that same movie UV HD copy from VUDU, you could play the movie on your Roku or PS4 or Xbox One or phone or iPad or laptop or desktop. There is no compelling reason to limit the content to just a Playstation.

Heads up : If you haven't already grabbed this, be sure to get the free RIME theme. Not only is it very pretty and truly dynamic with an animated crab and fox in it and waves coming ashore, but the music is nice and soothing in the background and the theme is time-dynamic as well -- bright during the day and dark and starlit at night. It's the only one I'm using these days.

I've become a fan of Sucker Punch after playing Infamous Second Son when I got my PS4 and they're working on this one now that could be just as good or better. Not worth a thread of it's own...for now...but good grief it's good looking....

I actually liked Second Son, it was just a straight arcade style beat 'em up set in an open world and it was fun.

I liked Second Son well enough, but the repetitive side missions and tiny handful of enemy types quickly grew stale. It sounds like they've been given enough of a runway to do this one right, though.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I loved Second Son...what they did with the "Neon Mission" was a sight to see especially with the PS4 release...and coming from the Xbox 360...I was literally in total awe. I also like the "Good & Evil" part which I'd like to see in more games; gives a nice twist and see the difference. Not a whole lot on the game above yet but I'm sure it won't be a normal Hack & Slash....

Second Son was one of the only open-world style games I actually liked. Most of them I can't stand.

It was a great launch window game that really showcased the power behind the new generation. But yeah, the side mission stuff got repetitive pretty fast, but it was still a fun world to mess around in.

Yea,,,,and some of the squishy, wimpy, PC crowd is out complaining about it. I never finished the first one that has a lot of emotion in it and it's been said of the second they'll be pushing the emotional aspect even more. I really need to finish the first....

I dunno, all I see in YouTube comments are idiots whining about feminists, but I hear that's nothing new for gamers.

For Canucks, PS+ 1 year membership at the old price of $49.99:

Of course, this doesn't work for me because "not available to Quebec residents".

How do they know if you are a Quebec resident? Couldn't you just change your postal code on your account?

I don't know how they verify but I've tried about 10 different ways including what you suggested, also tried with a VPN, etc... and nothing works. They send a verification to your cellphone, so maybe they know the area code is in Quebec, or maybe they check the Paypal/CC billing address.

Quebec is excluded from ALL the good stuff.

Reason being, it's Quebec.

I get pissed every time I see "offer not available in Quebec", I'm surprised they let me sign up on DVDTalk.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Was curious as to anyone getting Playstation VUE with locals and thru Amazon Fire? We are seriously looking at biting the bullet and canceling our Direct TV a few months before the contract expires. I've talked to people here who have both Amazona and Netflix along with Hulu and Sling and we're leaning Amazon Fire with using Playstation VUE thru it to get local channels along with some favorites like AMC, SyFy, TLC, TNT, USA and others. We're trying to get the details down and just how all this goes together, works and quality of the programming.

The wife has a new 4K Smart TV with the Amazon button on the remote and I have of course the PS4 in the rec room. We're feed up with Direct TV and the fact 90% of the crap is garabage and info junk. Amazon Prime at $100.00 a year is a no brainer but I have never messed with Playstation Vue except some say it is worth a look. I think the package I saw was around $40.00 that interested me.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I find the quality of Vue to be pretty poor. low frame rate. I get it one or two months a year for MLB or NBA playoffs, but I'm usually not happy with it. Dark shows are particularly poor. Couldn't see anything that was happening in Mr. Robot S3 premiere, so went back to buying the season on Amazon - much clearer.

I had no issues with video quality on low light shows with Vue, or quality in general. Alas, not a big sports watcher.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

We're looking at as a filler...for the TNT, USA, AMC and the locals which we want ant do the movies and TV Shows thru Amazon. I read some review of the Vue, Sling and DirectTV online services and while all had good point they liked The Vue better overall. I think you can try it out for like five days which I might go ahead. The Direct TV dish though has got to go....90% of the stuff on there is crap and info.....

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

There is a thread in the Streaming Forum.

Vue worked really great to me. I think it was the first service I tried, after that I tried DirecTV Now, and now I'm using Youtube TV. Vue had less features, but the channel lineup was the stronger at that time. Right now all of them have the same price, channel line up, etc. YouTube DVR functionality is the best though.
