re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
Think it's a coincidence that this shit goes down the day before Sony's big press conference at CES 2016?
Normally I wouldn't care so much since I don't do much online gaming. But I was playing games at another PS4 over the holidays and all my save games are in the cloud Came really close to downloading what I needed yesterday, but I just got home after traveling all day and put it off until today. Or so I though.

I was gonna buy some shit from their store, but now I might not, or forget what I was gonna buy when it's back up. Doubt I'm the only one. We are still so far from "always online" being a realistically functional thing - either something's up on my end, an issue with the ISP OR something like PSN, and/or their servers. "The internet" is way too old and rickety for what they want to keep doing with it.

For those who just got a PS4 and those who have one for awhile, the famous Resogun devs Housemarque new Top Down Shooter Alienation will be out March 23rd.

Notice some decent stuff going on in the PS Store last night.....Drive Club ($20), Infamous: Second Son ($10) and some others that might be worth checking.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
I'm almost 2 years into owning my PS4 and I'm still experiencing the eject bug.
The console will just randomly spit out the disc and won't let you put a disc back in and will make eject noises until you power it down.
Has anyone here experienced this bug? The online posts about this say that one of the things to do to get rid of it is unplug the console and re-plug it or tighten up the eject screw.
I've unplugged it multiple times and it would work for maybe a few weeks and then the bug comes back.
I asked this question here to see if anyone had a solution/answer, but no one responded. All I got was a stupid sarcastic remark. Am I hosed because I know I'm out of warranty now. The posts I've read say the last resort is sending the console back to Sony for repair.

I saw some claims that the rubber foot under the PS4 can cause the ejecting. It touches the button from underneath. You might try pulling it off.

I'm guessing this is some kind of design/mechanical flaw with one of the earlier versions of the console, which I guess I got stuck with.

I have a small piece of cardboard under one of the rubber feet. That was more to take care of the wabble that the launch consoles had. Might want to try that.

I pulled off that rubber piece about 6 months ago because a lot of posts claimed when it touched a flat surface, it would eject the discs. I also placed the PS4 on a DVD set to make it higher.
I'm guessing this is some kind of design/mechanical flaw with one of the earlier versions of the console, which I guess I got stuck with.

Sony creates a new company to run everything PlayStation
Interesting. Considering the success of the PS4, this seems like a smart move.
Sony just announced that it's spinning off PlayStation into its own separate company, dubbed Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC. It combines Sony Computer Entertainment (basically any and all PlayStation-related hardware and software) with Sony Network Entertainment (services like PlayStation Vue and the PlayStation Store) and will be led by Andrew House as president and global CEO. Head of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, retains his title, but will now report to Shawn Layden.

My launch PS4 appears to be useless at this point. Was watching a blu-ray last night when the screen went nuts like I was being hacked in a 90s movie or something. When it settled, it said my database was corrupt and I had to reinstall the full version of the firmware again. Doing so wiped all my content (so long, P.T.). Now it won't restore any of my licenses for the 250+ digital games and apps I have.
The future. Love it.

Fuck, that's terrible.
I hope my PS4 (and everything else for that matter) survives the truck ride over the next two weeks. I probably should have backed up the HDD before packing it up.
