I think the interface needs work. Say what you want about the XMB, but the PS3 interface was pretty intuitive, and was at least a little flexible. I'm already wishing I could change at least the color of the PS4 background.

Mine does ship out till next week since I picked free shipping. Might I am thinking about cancelling my order. Even though 2 of the 3 games I order earlier in the week arrived today.

No risk of that -- that would require a connection to PSN.

Maybe that is why the battery lasts less than the ps3 one.

No, and it is both odd and stupid. As far as the hardware goes, I think that light is my only real complaint.

On the software side, I'm a little bit disappointed that their firmare/UI isn't more ready for prime time. If you're trying to keep all of these guys who are coming over from 360, you have to be at least as smooth as the 360 was in 2006. But it still has some of that Sony quirkiness.

The highlight of the night for quirk was playing Warframe with Shumway and having to send him an in-game friend request even though we're already friends at the system level and were already talking on party chat. I guess that's more of an issue with the game than the console, and that game has a whole variety of stuff that I can't figure out.

Actually the highlight of the night was an epic coop round of Resogun. Damn that game is good!

Oddly, I've had no trouble at all getting on the network or using the store. I have other issues, but that part has been pretty smooth.

I think that if they want to convert 360 owners they need to have the UI as slick as they are used to now. Up and forward is the only thing that's acceptable these days. No fanboy gamer who just jumped ship is going to say "Oh yeah, this is good enough. You know, like the blades we had in 2006 the year after the 360 launched."

Wow. Got home, opened the Amazon box, hooked everything up...and nothing. Pulsing blue light, no video signal. HDMI cable is seated fine. No obvious metal or anything. Tried 3 different HDMI cables and two different TVs.

Guess I'm calling Sony.

EDIT: Ended up ordering the BF4 Bundle from Amazon and it'll be here Monday. Fuck, there goes my weekend of playing a new system. And I have to return the copy of BF4 I already bought. Sucks.

So the setup process for me was aggrevating but mainly because one HDMI cable I had been using had obviously gone to shit. The picture kept going out and going fuzzy. I damn near lost my shit.

The update when quick but now that I am downloading games the downloads are back to their normal PSN crawl.

The main issue I am facing now is that it the system shows I am a PS+ member but the storefront in the game does not. Each time I navigate to the PS+ menu it tries to get me to sign up. The profile page on my PS4 and in my app show the little + sign by my name but it just isn't registering within the store.

See guys, THIS is why you shouldn't buy these systems the first time out.

I had an argument with a customer buying a PS4 and the guy selling it to him at Best Buy. He has these pipe dreams that he will be able to play games in 4K on his new 4K tv. It is simply astonishing how misinformed some customers and employees are about the products. I was then griped out about it by another employee/assistant managers of the store for seeming to try and persuade the customer out of buying the product, which I was absolutely not trying to do as I just got one myself. Stupid fools can makes a lot of money and piss it away and still be lacking in the area of wisdom. I know that the PS4 is supposedly 4K compliant but that doesn't mean shit either and it has already been confirmed that it won't run games in 4K.

I've bought plenty of systems at launch and have never had an issue. No reason to expect it would happen to me. "Luck" of the draw and I'll have a new system on Monday. I'll live.

unhooked my ps3, plugged in ps4 with same hookups. 10 minutes of updates and I was playing Ghosts. Easy as can be.
