I am not sure I understand the point though. Actions have consequences. Would you expect to play a WW II game, and align with both Germany and the USA?

Re: Fallout 4

Ha, come one man...I'm simply saying I just don't like it. The game gives you no options at all if you want to see certain endings and it's something in gaming I can't stand. It's even worse with Fallout as there aren't even certain obvious trigger points for the "point of no return". You lose missions and get locked out of certain content in the game.

It's ridiculous to me and at the very least if there are going to be multiple endings....make them non-consequential for the gamer.

Lastly, I don't have all the time in the world to game so makes it even more frustrating (especially for a game this size).

ugh, had 2 suits of power armor in Sanctuary and of course it gets attacked while I'm underground right in the middle of "The Big Dig" and they're both gone by the time I get back to defend it.

It does warn you though. A message pops up that says something along the lines of "starting this missing will make you enemies with xxxxx" doesn't it?

Re: Fallout 4

Spoiler:
Only for the institute ending. I believe getting rid of the institute is the only way to keep the railroad, minutemen, & BOS up and running altogether (without them fighting) but I'm not sure if there is a certain way that you need to go about doing it.

Spoiler:
sadly you're not missing out on much at all as far as the endings are concerned - THEY'RE ALL THE SAME!!! You just lose factions depending on your choices.

Did you leave the power core inside the power armor? They shouldn't get taken by AI if you remove the power core.

Re: Fallout 4

Yep, that's what I always do. It has been mentioned here before.

Also, not that caps are an issue, but if you take the power core when it still has power, above 0%, you can sell it to vendors.

I made it about 40 hours before the game crashed for the first time, unfortunately for me it was when I had the Mirelurk Queen at The Castle down to about 10% life left

I think that's the only "Boss" battle that has taken me some time. I was under Level 20, I think, and it took me almost an hour, and several deaths.

I died once, but I was level 32 with a missed laucher that did extra limb damage so I just fired missiles at her legs and it didn't take very long.

So if you romance Piper and Cait, do you need to have them in separate locations?

If you first romance them when the other is in the vicinity they might disapprove. But if you've already maxed them out and they're just a companion they can all be in the same location. I sent ALL the companions to the drive-in and there was never a problem when I switched between any of them.

I don't think so. Cait was in Sanctuary while I took Piper out. and then I swapped them out and got have both the perks. Doing chems and drinking seems to speed up the relationship with Cait.

I already cured Cait (crap)... so who gives you the lover's embrace if they are both in the same place and you sleep? Or does it not say who it is only that you feel it.

Well, 100 hours and I think I haven't met Cait. (Not asking how to meet her, I know how to Google).

I haven't finished the main story though. I just started the Institute quests.

I don't think it says.

I had to clear super mutants out from the toy factory for one of the settlements tonight. Just doing some recon before hand it has has 2 legendary and a bunch of regular ones. I start the attack and this one that's tagged comes out chasing after me, I kill him, and I get the message that I completed the objective. Meanwhile I have ammunition and grenades raining down upon me from the mutants still there:lol:

Of course! Some even say that it's easier to romance women if you have a female character.

I just "found" the Railroad. What a pain it was to follow that red line. Ugh...sitting at about level 38. I don't have to "stay" with them correct?

Anyone see the Macho Man Deathclaw mod? That was hilarious. Even better than the Skyrim dragon.

They also have thomas the train mod

Although I found Thomas in Skyrim a lot scarier.

Correct. Like anything in Fallout.

But don't worry, you can fast travel from, and back, the Railroad HQ after one mission. Their tasks are not that bad. And the companion, Deacon, is fine too.

And if you follow Tinker Toms quests you get the cool ballistic armor mods.

I initially thought all you long timers of this series were just nitpicking when it came to the dialogue choices being limited and not really changing much.....until I went and checked out some of the role playing stuff from fallout 2......whoa shit I would have loved that in fallout 4....so yeah, they need to bring that back for sure.

Is there a way to see how many hours you've put in? I know I've put in probably 50, so I have a long way to go, but I'm curious the actual #.

Codsworth says a ton of names (thousand or so) and some are just plain funny - the video shows a couple funny ones but I have also included a link to the full list of names:

Having trouble embedding video - also...I can't stand the John Cena shit at the end...just and FYI:

I think the opposite. There are very limited consequences, which they mostly warn you about. I'd prefer it if there were more.

The distances on some of these settlement quests is getting comical.

Finch Farm wants me to clear out some ghouls that are attacking them from the comic store in the Silver Shroud quest.

Re: Fallout 4

Finally beat this game today, after a bit over 60 hours and level 60. All I have to say is one big giant "meh". It started out great, but then all the flaws started rapidly revealing themselves. This was a good FPS, but it isn't a Fallout game.

The story was just a giant disappointment. It was so weak, it felt like no real time was spent developing it. In the end it just hammered home how little (no) choice there was in the game.

The settlements were so half-assed too. I thought there would be some point to them revealed later on in the game, but no, it's just a pointless time sink.

edstein 01-10-16 10:27 PM

Re: Fallout 4

If it was just "meh", why did you invest 60 hrs into it? Maybe if you just did the main story without the sidequests it would feel better as you could probably do that in 10-12 hrs.

People have a tendency to go on autopilot in games where not much happens, hence the popularity of the Bethesda games and MMOs, but when you get to the end you're going to decide if you liked it or not, even if the last few hours were a chore.

I got about 12 hours into this and haven't felt motivated to go back, it's just repetitive, and I'm tired of Raiders! Ghouls! Raiders! Send help! Raiders! but I'm sure I'll go back and put more time into it when I get bored.

It's the reason why I *only* spent (invest? lol) 60 hours in the game.

Like I said, it's a good shooter, but it's a garbage Fallout game. I stopped playing it weeks ago, but finally said "enough's enough" and got it over with.

I honestly don't blame people if they're let down by it - I can see where they're coming from. I was blown away by the customization and all the crazy options you have.

I still like it but I will say this....the shit story and it's lame multiple endings did get to me - I won't lie about that.

Re: Fallout 4

I think it tried to do too many things, and ended up not doing most of them very well. It just wasn't very focused, so it felt hollow.
