Re: Fallout 4

I took a short break from the main storyline and went back and did some side quest stuff. Did about 8-9 Cleaning the Commonwealth quests in a row for some easy xp.

The Castle quest for the Minute Men was pretty tough. Until I used the Fat Boy.

Now I'm at lvl 29 and using a +50% dmg to Super Mutant rifle to snipe and Dogmeat as a companion.

No major bugs although there is one quest I can't turn into Paladin Danse. The quest marker shows up above his head, but when I talk to him he just wants to join as a companion.

Re: Fallout 4

I think Danse becoming your companion is part of the quest. After you do those early Brotherhood missions, he's supposed to become your mentor.

flashburn 12-19-15 05:57 AM

Re: Fallout 4

No, there's a bug (which I guess they still haven't fixed) where you can't turn in quests to Danse until you proceed a bit further through another quest related to the Brotherhood. It was pretty annoying, but it fixes itself.

I've run into a bug when trying to complete the Institute ending.
Spoiler:
The End of the Line, mission is asking me to kill the leaders of the Railroad. However, one of the members is supposed to be outside near a metro station but she's not there. I don't remember for sure but she may have died already.

I may just have to go back to an even earlier save or just start a new character to get that achievement.

It's a retread of what happened in Fallout 3. There's a mission like that where you have to accompany him, as well.

I gave this about 12-hours over 2.5 days on a Redbox rental and called it quits. There's not enough compelling me to finish the main story, let alone the sidequests. I'll probably pick it up at $20 or less. Right now, I'm gonna install Fallout 3: GOTY and give that another go.

Re: Fallout 4

I'm doing something right...over the weekend I plowed through this game. I'm only a level 25 with less than 3 days of play and not many more quests to do (I haven't looked through anybody's spoilers as to what missions affect what but I kind of know by just playing the game, I'm definitely NOT going to bring the holotape back to the brotherhood of steel just yet...as an example).

The perks I used to get me moving so damn quick are: Toughness (30%), Adamantium Skeleton (first level), Medic (first level), Hacker (advanced terminals), and out of frustration, I didn't want to do it but said whatever - first level of "Pack Mule"

I definitely went about playing this game the right way as well (meaning sticking to the story missions only for a long while) as going back to do the earlier quests in the game were very easy and didn't take much time. Also, I don't know if you guys know this or not but, for those minuteman quests, every time the next step says "Go talk to preston" you don't have to, just do a ton of the minuteman quests then go talk to him and he will wrap up all the quests you did at once - it was actually pretty cool.

Why I love this game so much (Me taking out the queen):

I'm over 5 days in and currently at level 63. I've got all but two achievements (benevolent leader and nuclear family). It's hard to find any new missions at this point other than Preston giving me the same ones over and over. I'm going to back away from this game and finish Tomb Raider. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the DLC to come out.

Re: Fallout 4

I bought this on release for PC but ended up holding off to play Tomb Raider and then Starcraft II instead. Finally playing now, a few hours in, and having trouble getting in to it. I'm not quite sure why though. Then again I thought Fallout 3 started off pretty slow too so I'm trying to force my way over the hump. Not really feeling the much maligned dialog options, the new perk stuff, and some of the interface controls so far on the PC at the moment either.

So what level is everyone finishing this at? I just reached level 30 (70 hours or so), and STILL can't stand crafting... I have not done much of the main mission yet. I wouldn't say I have an awesome weapon or armor either pretty bummed about that. I have not found a plasma rifle either. That was my favorite from Fallout 3. Still seem to get my ass handed to me more that I would like as well. Fun game but becoming frustrating as I have not really found anything really cool yet. So if anyone has some tips...

Check out my post a little ways up for what perks to get.

I must say, the games perks piss me off...takes somewhat a while to gain a lot of XP for just one point. System is definitely broken.

I have not found a plasma rifle yet either but I do have a ton of ammo for it. I haven't tried any shops yet either.

I'm done with Preston, his missions are boring. Think I'm going to finally wrap up the main story-line after a few more minor side quests. I think there are 3 endings - I don't want to know anything about them yet though as I haven't finished one yet.

I'm sure this won't help, but I found some place, I think a vault, that had a lot of guards with some nice plasma rifles and pistols. I'm only level 15 or so, so its not that far or hidden.

Level 26 as of last night. Found a pretty powerful laser sniper rifle that also shoots well from the hip. Can take out the more powerful super mutants with 2 or 3 shots now.

Re: Fallout 4

I didn't start seeing Plasma weapons out in the wild until around level 50. Soon after they started showing up, I had one drop from a Legendary that had bleed damage, which is pretty sweet. Even if you find one early, you'll likely not get much ammo for it, and buying the ammo is quite pricey.

Raul3 12-22-15 01:41 PM

Re: Fallout 4

I have a plasma pistol that I'm always carrying, but I don't use it too much. I got 3-4 favorites.

I don't remember my level , but it's above 40, I think. I'm already in the part where you have to select a faction.

So I think I've lost my dog.

I met up with Cait (?) and took her on as my companion, sending Dogmeat back to Sanctuary. Or so I thought... I've been back to Sanctuary a few times over several in-game days, and he still hasn't shown back up. I'm afraid he's stuck behind a fallen tree or piece of rubble, and he'll never make it back.

Wish there was a way to see your companions on the map. That'd be pretty handy right about now.

If a companion isnt where you sent them, check their home. Home is where you 1st find them. So for Dogmeat it would be at Red Rocket

Did it on Finch farm. Stupid and annoying, and I think I never would've figured it out without a guide, but at least it's done.

I don't give a shit if they are happy. Do you get anything out of besides XP when building crap?

Also, what purpose do turning on Protectron's serve? Do you ever mess with their personalities? Or do you just kill them and scrap them for parts after turning them on?

Supposedly you can get some cryo ammo off of them if you change them to fire mode, but I've never seen it drop.

Same, although in Chrome.
In my case, it's because my office blocks anything on Microsoft's OneDrive.
At home, the embed looks fine.

Yeah, I'm blaming OneDrive. But reverse for me; fine at work, blocked at home. I have way tighter security at home, since my work PC doesn't hold shit.

pretty abrupt but I have to admit that

I really did NOT want to take out the other factions (in this case the railroad and BOS
they really did a good job of making it feel "Wrong" but with that said - It was annoying too, I honestly can't stand when games pull this shit, even if it is effective
Spoiler:
you do all that work just to take them out and then receive a ton of spam "Failed" missions because you are no longer on their side - such bullshit, and if you want to beat the game, you have no choice but to take out two factions THERE ONLY NEEDS TO BE ONE ENDING IN A GAME!! If you want to do multiple endings then base it on your choices (kind of like what bishock did) but even then, I don't like that shit either

But with that said, still and amazing F'n game, such a technical achievement. It's amazing how you can just walk into an abandoned building and go on a terminal to read about something (with your characters name included) that you did earlier in the game. How the NPC's react to what you did in the game, how companions will talk among each other when you switch between them - could go on, and on, and on.

I will be playing this game for a long time to come - one of the best if not THE best games I've ever played - that's high praise coming from someone who is not into sci-fi that much.

Sounds like you made your final choice too early. If you make it near the end, it will only fail the final mission for the other two factions.
