$1k in monitors? There are only 3 monitors right? The middle one is probably a decent widescreen, but the other 2 are just plain Dellish looking 4:3 monitors.
And yes, the PC itself would easily be $2k

oopsie!Ok let's see...
Keyboard isn't that expensive - Saitek Eclipse - can probably get for around $60 if not cheaper
Saitek Flight stick $80-100
Mouse looks kinda plain, but figure $50
Saitek Cyborg Command Unit - $40
Chair $200
Desk - $500
Monitors $500
Saitek A-250 $100
$1550 in the picture - best guess if the quality is decent for the products I'm not aware of... not familiar with that desk either, but figured $500 would give a good buffer.
So, yeah, add in a decent gaming rig for $2k and you could get $4k.

You went a bit overboard in the prices. I was checking monitors yesterday at Best Buy, so not the cheapest, a 24'' of a known bran costs no more than $180, the 20'' or less 4:3 monitors should cost under $100. So it's $400 at most for those 3 monitors.
Does that desk really costs $500? Again, I'm looking for a new desk and a second/third monitor, so my numbers are fresh. I was checking prices in OfficeMax and all of those places. Even a customized one like that sounds expensive for $500.
Finally you can pay $2K or more for a PC if you buy an assembled gaming computer. If you build it yourself you can get a powerful machine, single $450 card, for something under $1000. I mean if you already have the monitors, keyboard, etc. You need motherboard, CPU, hard drive and GPU. And a case of course.
Short answer: You may only need $2K for everything, but your wife will still kill you, right?

Well I built a powerful rig last fall and I know I spent around $2k and that did not include the top gaming card which is $500+. It really depends how powerful and cutting edge you want it to be.
I tried finding the desk or something similar, but gave up looking.
No idea about the monitors, like I said, the 2 side monitors look like cheap Dells.

That sure went off the rails.
I'm reviving this from the original "which console" thread, as I believe past performance to be the best predictor of future quality on each platform.

Ugh, who cares. It's Halo/Gears/Forza vs. Uncharted/God of War/LBP. All of them for both systems are stale franchises. They BOTH need new IP's, and so far I haven't seen much.

Lol.
But, the PS3 has the top 4 spots while the 360 has the bottom 4 spots!
Is Forza really that amazing?

Sony has Knack and Driveclub, and MS has Ryse and (I'll give them credit for) Killer Instinct.

Knack is the only thing worth a crap out of all of those, and that's not saying much. They should have just made a PS4 Ratchet right off the bat and bundled it for free.

I don't care about "new IPs" I care about games.
If they are "new IPs" then great, if not... whatever, still great!

Driveclub is a racing game so it already loses. Plus, it's not Gran Turismo, Need for Speed or Forza. It will be forgotten shortly. Obviously I'm not a racing fan, but the little I have seen about DC is unimpressive, and Forza looks better both in graphics and gameplay. Not understanding the uproar over a driving game, but I guess when all a console has beside that is some indie games, you do what you can

I suspect he's discounting Driveclub because it's a driving game, and for once, I agree.
Edit...he beat me to it.

<---- Never said I was sane!
But yea, I do enjoy new IPs that are great, more than the same old version of a great game with some minor differences and updates...

I'm with Music on the new IP's thing. Sure if is good I will play it, but if there are not any for years, I don't care. They definitely do not make or break a system for me. I much rather play mulitplatform titles on a console with better features, which is easily the XBOX One right now.
Personally, a LOT of the Sony exclusives are mediocre at best. Not a fan of anything LittleBigPlanet has to offer, Uncharted 2 was great but the other 2 were just OK. Last of Us was boring. God Of War was dead around the PS2 era for me. Resistance is the same a Killzone, a generic shooter. inFamous 1 was unplayable, so I never tried 2, which looked a lot better at least. I really do want to try Second Son though.
MS on the other hand has generally kept me entertained with Gears of War, and Halo is ok, but not fantastic. They definitely have a lot less to offer, but at least I enjoy one or two of their franchises more.

How was inFamous unplayable?
I need to get back into playing the Uncharted 1, so I can get to 2, but right now I am focused on completing Assassins Creed 3....
Have the God of War Collection and III games but haven't played them yet... I have bunches of games I still need to either get into for the first time or get back to.
Need to check out Ico and SOTC too...
Little Big Planet was fun for a little while, but it is really not my type of game.

@ Music: Start with Uncharted 2 and GoW 3...they both have the flash and polish to feel up to date, and if you enjoy them, you're not missing much by going back to the others and playing them like prequels. Depending on how much you like combo-based brawlers, you may want to play GoW on easy and just soak it in and enjoy the puzzles.
Infamous is NOT unplayable, and I like the first one more than the second despite the second taking a fairly big graphical leap.

Thanks, I had started Uncharted and played until I got a little stuck on a spot, but that was a long time ago.
I normally play my games on easy, much more fun that way for me
