Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

I noticed that the other day. I'm surprised so many are playing the good guy. I thought everyone was all about the GTA bad boy shit.

I was walking around the city earlier and a random citizen snapped a photo of me. Nice touch. I love all the little comments and how things change the more 'good' you are.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

Finished my evil playthrough and platinum'd the game last night. I'm a little surprised how stupid the story comes across if you play through on evil. On good, I'd probably give it a 7/10. For evil, it drops to something like a 3/10. All in all, I felt like the total package was a small step down from 2. Still a lot of fun, but it felt like they really could've had the first game of this generation to become a classic and it's just not at that level.

Anyway, I see Best Buy's trade-in after GCU is $44, so I guess I'll go in today and trade it in. Their new GCU has really won me over. Pay $48 on release day, spend a couple weeks with the game then keep it if I want or trade it in for almost as much as I paid for it if I don't. Hell, with South Park Stick of Truth & it's preorder bonus, Best Buy effectively paid me about $15 to play through it. Not sure how that model's going to keep working for them, but it's great for now.

those are also the 2 most rare random encounters it seems though. I platinum'd last night, and it took me close to an hour of NEON'ing around the city to spawn enough of those unemployed deadbeats to beat on to get the trophies. The double-dash smoke comet drop took me way too long also. I feel like I got it a dozen times but it wouldn't hit. it wasn't until I dashed into the first smoke stack from the air instead of the ground that it finally popped.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

Played more of the "Evil" side last night...it's such a blast...no pun intended. It seems there are far more to do and get with Evil..street musicians, sign twirlers and protesters along with the drug dealers. I've used Orbital Drop more in Evil than I've done in Good even though I'm at the 23% left mark. I get enough Evil Karma and usually head for the nearest Scanner Station or stronghold.

I think the 3rd segment of Paper Trail is up and I'm doing that on the Good, it's not bad. I need to finish up Good though and then concentrate on Evil. How long will I hold on to the game...don't know. May has two games I want...Watch Dogs and Wolfenstein The New Order not to mention Hell Divers will be out also.

From the PS Blog post about PAX East :

The biggest show exclusive we have to offer comes from recently released inFAMOUS Second Son. Limited to just 77 pieces at PAX East 2014, with only 300 ever made, this will be the first time the inFAMOUS Second Son Collectible Delsin Statue has been available for sale to the public. It’s a work of art and can be yours for $150 dollars. It’ll be out for one day only – Saturday April 12 – so don’t miss out!

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

Well I'm pissed...my "Paper Trail" is all screwed up. I went in today to I thought...pick up on the third part since I did Parts 1 & 2. Instead the in game portion is treating me as if I've never done it sending me to the very beginning....where you start the paper trail up inside the billboard. And the web site...showing I didn't get to Part 2 at all with unlocking the drone being the last thing I did.

I tried to just do the beginning but now it's stuck at where it tells you to go online, open the crime scene photos before continuing. Well I've done that again and it won't continue. Just keeps telling me to log in and look at the photos ...

Yeah, I tried Paper Trail and couldn't upload the first part once completing it. It's all screwed up it seems.

BTW I finished 100% on Good/Normal yesterday. Thought I might get some sort of story acknowledgement after finishing it, but I guess not. Anyway, had a good time. Going to play some other stuff before a Hard/Evil play through.

Finally got around to using my Best Buy pre-order bonus code. Like most promos I forgot what it was (or never knew). It took a few minutes to find the 'content.' 4 jean jacket skins. What a terrible bonus item.

Finished the evil playthrough on expert yesterday. Goes a lot quicker if you got 100% on first good playthrough. I would guess half the time. Would be quicker if you could skip the goddamn cutscenes.

Piece of advice. If you are gonna play on expert, change your last save on your good playthrough to expert difficulty and then start a new game. If you do this, your new game will default to expert difficulty. I started a new game and played for half an hour before I realized it never asked me what difficulty to select after playing during that time on normal...

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

Just started playing the game tonight, but ran into a huge problem.

After the sheriff knocked when the main character was talking to Betty, I got outside and then jumped into the river. How the hell do you swim in this game? Every button I pressed to move the character was unresponsive. He just sits there paddling in the water.

Is there some fancy button combo I'm missing? I mean this is the very beginning of the game? I hope this game doesn't have a shit load of convoluted button combos.

Can anyone help me get to shore? Otherwise, I can't move any further.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

Every time Delsin hit the water for me, there'd be a prompt saying "warp to shore" with an icon of a fingerprint or something, and I'd have to press down on the touchpad. I couldn't move a muscle until pressing down on the touchpad. Did you miss that prompt, maybe? I fell into the water a good bit, and I thought the prompt remained on the screen until the pad was touched.

At the point where you are, the goal is to get you familiar with the controls by making you stay out of the water. Jump on all that stuff that's poking out of the river, the rocks on the shore, etc.

Adam is right, no swimming. Touchpad returns you to shore after an onscreen prompt.

That's the one thing that really bugged me about the game (which I've finished on good, started on evil): Dude has all these incredible powers, yet fall into a little water and all you can do it press the "warp to shore," which feels & looks a little lame.

At least they acknowledge it with Delsin saying "I'm bad in water too" at one point.

Is it necessary to do the "He Who Dwells" first before the final mission or is it what triggers it? I've done all the sectors and the only thing left is the Angel Mission down below and I assume the Tower Battle.

Yes, He Who Dwells is a story mission, one that has to be completed in order to progress the story towards the ending. And it's a pain in the ass, but after that, the "reward" is pretty damn cool. To be honest, you already made a poor decision because you'd like that reward to help clear out baddies (don't need it, but it's fun).

Thanks...I'm not so worried about the "3rd Power" on this playthru (Good). I just want to complete everything and then go back to finish "Evil". I'm leaving a little in each sector including the final so I can enjoy that last power. Plus with Evil you have a lot more ...Freedom....than with Good. I've done almost all I want before crossing the bridge and still got to get the Neon.

FWIW...I gave up on the Paper Trail since mine is screwed up. I've tried twice going back thru the start and it's froze at the 'Look at the crime photos at the mailbox. I go online, look and it won't start the next one even though I've done it already.

He Who Dwells almost made me break my controller. Worst mission in the game.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

Well finish the "he Who Dwells"...on Good side.Wasn't as bad as I thought but still a pain in sme areas. It wasn't him killing me but that damn Lava. I get on one and before I could move it would go down and make a bee-line to the next. he oher issue was they wouldn't shoot me high enough on one of the remainng platforms. What really saved me....a solid rock that looked like part of a bridge. It was on the other side of him and he couldn't hit me and it didn't sink.

Someon on anothr forum said take out as many of the Angels at the end when hey fly off...i drains his health to which I did. Took about three tries nd the third power...just playing with it s pretty cool looking Just have te Battle to do next to finish Good playthru.

I felt like He Who Dwells was one of the best parts of the game, reminded me of Gunvalkyrie, I'm one of two that loved that game.

I'm not what you'd call "great at games", but I didn't really have any trouble with He Who Dwells. It seemed like a rote standard video game boss fight to me...almost a parody.

Smoke missiles. Cover. Jump a bit. Recharge smoke. Repeat.

Pretty much, I died once near the end but it was surprisingly quick whittling him down again.
