I couldn't advance either after beating the drug dealers if that is where you are stuck as well

Having a good time with the game, but seriously fuck the secret agent missions. They always seem to notice me before I notice them, taking off before I can even follow, and when I do follow, nothing I throw at them, shots, missiles, etc., seems to hit them. And I can never catch up to them. Seriously, what the fuck.

I only had that happen on the very first one but no problems after that. I usually have them caught before they even take off.

Neon has a one shot auto-subdue too, except you get the added benefit of being able to do it in slow motion when you zoom. Not sure why you think smoke is better in that regard. Also, with the smoke bomb you have to run up to the guy to subdue them. Neon's similar weapon puts them in a bubble and all you have to do is shoot them while they're suspended and they'll get subdued. So again, the same feature but you can do it from a distance. In my opinion, neons power is better in both of the situations you mentioned. That said, if you just want to obliterate everything, smoke is by far the best. And more fun too.

I just finished the evil expert playthrough. Honestly, it was easier than my normal run. I'd say it only took about 9 hours the second time, and that was with repeating a lot of the misc missions and finding shards, clearing districts, etc.

OK, here's a new one on me.

I ordered the game on late thursday night from Amazon. The game shipped Friday, with a delivery estimate of Sunday. Sunday? Who the hell delivers on a Sunday?

Sure enough, the package showed up today via USPS. On a Sunday. What a country.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

I rented my copy from gamely like I do all new games now...game showed up at my house one day after it came out, and I immediately bought it for 44 bucks free shipping...the case will show up probably monday and any codes inside will be mine. (though I don' think there are any with this game)

since amazon and other sights have been stingy with prices on games, this has become my go to way of buying new games. Since I am the first person with the game and get all the stuff that comes with the game it is basically new, and I never pay more than 44 bucks for any game. You just got to make sure you have an empty spot on your rental Q 2 days before a game comes out.

I like Neon better solely because of how fast you run, especially after getting the unlimited run upgrade.

I made my comments prior to unlocking the one-shot subdue with neon. I now revise my statements to say that neon is easier than smoke in that regard. However, when you need to take down the heavy enemies (the Gatling gun dudes and the giant concrete guys), smoke is far superior because you don't have to charge the missile shots.

USPS is in dire need of money. Internet shipments are more popular than ever.

Somebody actually used their brains on this one (I know I was amazed too!)

They get quite a bit easier later in the game. Once you have neon with slow-mo, it's actually easiest to run around until someone teleports to flee and then just zap them in their new location. My only real gripe with them is that I'm pretty sure one spot kept glitching on me. The guy got away the first time because I only had smoke and hadn't powered up much. I went back a restarted the mission a dozen or so times without him reappearing. Finally I abandoned that one, did some other stuff and then came back and he spawned that time.

It's not quite a Knack-level mismatch, but anyone else think the voice of Delsin is wrong? He looks like 23 yrs old and sounds mid-thirties in his voice. He also doesn't talk in a manner of a rebellious young man after the opening, instead he makes sophisticated quips like Nathan Drake. And he certainly doesn't seem or sound Native American or Inuit.

edit : Just checked and he's played by Troy Baker who is 35 (got the age dead-on correct) and who's been very busy in the past year or so playing The Joker in Arkham Origins, The President in SR IV, Booker DeWitt in Bioshock Infinite and Joel in The Last of Us. Apparently Nolan North has fallen off the face of the Earth and now this is the only guy who can voice a male lead.

I didn't know that (because I'm a man). Good to hear he's getting work as a real actor now. Hope he will still continue to do some video game work --at least Uncharted.

And yes, it's a little disconcerting how similar Troy Baker and Nolan North sound when voicing protagonists.

No, really, between one of my best friends (who's female), my best friend's girlfriend, and my fiancée, I've been exposed to a whole lotta Pretty Little Liars. It's ridiculous and stupid and awesome and terrible.

Still haven't cracked open Second Son yet. Aargh. Trying to finish one more review before I "reward" myself...

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

Been getting areas down to 0% before tackling the boss of each area (technically down to 7 or 8% as the boss battle takes it to zero).

Got the first three sections on the left side of the map completed. Man this game is already getting really, really repetitive for me. Does the variety increase any as you go on? Right now it is the same agent, audio log, camera missions in every level.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

I have no complaints whatsoever with the voice acting or mo-cap. It's all pretty convincing, and I like that it's just a little bit comic-booky and lighthearted. I also like the chemistry between the leads who are real-life friends.

If anything, I think the acting is a real strength of the game.

Young people of a certain ethnicity don't really have that accent or way of speaking like their parents or grandparents do. That's just my take. Asian American youths can sound like any other kid.

I think he sounds nothing like he does in BioShock Infinite, and he sounds very distinct in The Last of Us. A very good voice actor IMO.

I've cleared all the areas on the top of the map and two on the bottom. The variety doesn't get any better, but once you get leveled up a bit, it feels like it goes a lot faster, which helps it keep from getting boring, at least for me. But yeah, not a lot of diversity in side mission types.

Not really, other than the settings.

I'd recommend either splitting up your play sessions a bit, or if you feel like you have to plow through the game, skip the hidden camera and secret agent missions and only focus on collecting the blast shards to upgrade your powers. You can always come back and clean up the other stuff.

I'm kind of missing the timed parkour/platforming runs from previous games, and I'm honestly a bit surprised by it, because they were always a little bit annoying. I guess the multiple powers make it difficult to implement since the only power with any real platforming required is smoke. Maybe they could force you to use a particular power for each challenge or something, and it would be pretty easy to patch in.
