Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

Placed an in-store pickup order yesterday for series 2 & 3. Got an order confirmation on series 2, series 3 got canceled. The closest TRU near me is 45 min. away, but I'll be in that area later this week. Hopefully they'll have a few packs left, but I am not counting on it. I still need about a half dozen or so of each series. I am not counting on completing any of them, but it would be nice to try at this price.

I picked up a few packs and now have some unopened doubles and some more for trade mostly from series 1 and 2. For some reason there were no series 3 packs.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

I went ahead and checked out a store other than the one I have an in-store order with. They had plenty of series 1 and 2's, but only had 9 series 3's. I knocked down my needs list to 5 non-TRU exclusives. I missed out on the previous deal that some got in on that included the TRU discs. Hopefully they will have another deal that includes those soon. I only need a couple so it wouldn't be hard to knock those out provided those packs are still out there.

Mine had one left. Yeah one. It was stashed somewhere and they found it. This after a few people came in and cleaned them out.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

The second store I went to had about 50-60 Series 2 packs left, no Series 1 or 3. I used the scratch test on about two dozen of them until I ran across a rare. I gave up after that and came away with Condorman, which is one of the few left that I needed. I am down to three to completing a full set and I have a trade with someone over at CAG to take care of one of those. I'm now down to just finding a Dumbo and Angus.

Unfortunately it's OOS. I forgot to order it when it was $3.99. I did pick up Phineas yesterday though. Agent P is the only regular edition figure I don't own now. The only clear figure I own is Sully and I doubt if I try to get any of the others.

I'm more intrigued by the tag line. "Play without limits". Figures not limited in play sets perhaps?

First Images Of Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars Pop Up Online

It looks like Disney Infinity is travelling to a galaxy far, far away for version 3.0 A German retailer listed preorders for Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars on PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U, with a German release date of August 20.

The listings include images of the starter pack, seen above, which comes with Anakin Skywalker and Ahsok Tano figures, plus a playset piece. The cover art also shows Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia, R2-D2 and C-3PO.

The starter packs are priced at €69.99 on Xbox One and PS4 and €59.99 for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. Disney has not yet officially confirmed the release.

ComicBook.com has reached out to Disney Interactive for comment. They responded, saying, "Disney has no comment on Disney Infinity 3.0 at this time."

Looks too much like the Clone Wars artistic style than the style that I prefer. Also, who is kicking down the door to get a young Anakin?

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

Seems odd to go the Anakin/Prequel route around the release of the new movie.

Also, "Play without limits?" Yeah right.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

So if I have the 2.0 version all I need to do is buy the 3.0 disc correct? My 2.0 characters and dock/pad/usb dongle/whatever will work with the new characters? I am not interested at all in young Anakin or ahsoka but a vader or an R2 and now we're talking. I am sure the new movie will bring a wave of 3.0 characters too. I am surprised it isn't a "rebels" themed starter pack.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

I wonder if they packed in two figures most of us don't care about at all in the starter pack to make all the characters that you do want extra purchases? Seems like it to me.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

"Play Without Limits" is already the name of their Mobile/PC version of the game. It being on this box makes me question the authenticity.

This is what I am thinking.

Also the starter pack should be cheaper, hopefully, since there is only 2 figures instead of 3 like in the Marvel one. I don't even know who the other character is beside Anakin Skywalker

They really should have had Darth Vader and Obi-wan or something like that. I probably won't get the set until Black Friday anyway, I am sure the starter will be $40 then

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

Here's the game informer article, with some key details bolded

Disney Infinity has become the gaming destination for nearly everything Disney. Avalanche Software’s first two installments put Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters under one roof in story-based and freeform experiences. Now it’s time for Disney to give the Star Wars brand its due – Luke, Leia, Anakin, and more are joining the family with Disney Infinity 3.0, and we’ve got all the details in our mega-sized 16-page cover story.

Star Wars fandom is often divided between the two trilogies, and Disney Infinity 3.0 is catering to both audiences. Avalanche returns at the head of development while recruiting other studios to work on specific packs and systems. Ninja Theory’s (Devil May Cry, Heavenly Sword) pack-in playset, Twilight of the Republic, follows Anakin and Ahsoka as they fight to uncover who’s behind a freshly minted droid army. The story is set after Star Wars: Episode II, and it features land and space battles with plenty of melee combat. Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Darth Maul can enter the fray, too, as separately sold figures. Studio Gobo’s (Disney Infinity’s Pirates of the Caribbean playset) Rise Against the Empire is a highlight reel of sorts that follows the events of the classic trilogy. Luke and Leia tangle with Darth Vader and his forces through memorable sequences, including the battle of Yavin as well as time on Hoth and Tatooine. Chewbacca, Han Solo, and Darth Vader figures will be available individually.

Star Wars characters can cross over between the Star Wars playsets, too, which could lead to some canonically unsound (but fun) scenarios.

Disney Infinity 3.0 isn’t just tossing in a wookiee and a few new playsets and calling it a day, either. Avalanche has reexamined fundamental parts of its core game and is working with best-in-class developers to ensure that Infinity is as good as it can be. Ninja Theory has retuned melee combat, adjusting the timing and adding depth for advanced players. After all, you want to feel powerful when you’re wielding a light saber. Sumo Digital (Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing) has taken Infinity’s driving gameplay to the shop, tweaking the handling and drifting to provide a smoother experience. That’s key, considering one of the new Toy Box games is a kart racer. Those tweaks carry over into the Toy Box, which means legacy characters like Hulk and Mr. Incredible benefit as well.

Another Star Wars playset is coming this winter based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There are also sets based on Pixar’s Inside Out – with figures based on Joy, Disgust, Anger, Fear, and Sadness – and one from United Front Games (Sleeping Dogs) focused on Marvel characters including Hulkbuster Iron Man, Ultron, and more. Additional figures for Disney Infinity 3.0 include Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron: Legacy, Mulan, Olaf, and more. The Toy Box is getting special attention, too, with the addition of an updated hub world, toys for new players and experts, and the addition of an all-new farming system. May the pitchforks be with you.

We’ve got the behind-the-scenes story on every facet of the game’s development, and you’re only going to read about it in Game Informer’s June issue. Disney Infinity 3.0 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, iOS, and Android this fall. The Starter Pack is priced at $64.99. A new batch of Power Discs are also coming, with a twist: They won’t be in blind bags anymore. You can see what you’re getting before you buy them.

To get a glimpse of what’s to come in our full month of exclusive online content for Disney Infinity 3.0, check out our coverage trailer below.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

Wonder why Hulk and Spidey are in the pic? I get the tie in to AoU but do we need another Iron Man suit already? Hope they bring in some different Marvel heroes. Very excited about Han and Vader tho! Disappointed, but not surprised, that 3.0 is not going to be truly "play without limits". Either way, they will get my money again but I'm waiting for the inevitable BF sales. Especially, since I know how cheap you can get these figures, packs, etc if you wait.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

I'm still surprised that out of all their IPs, they chose characters from Tron: Legacy five years after the movie was released, presumably without a playset. And they still haven't done a playset for Mickey and friends or Disney Princesses or anything.

I'll wait for Black Friday too, since this will most likely be a Xmas present for the kids. Though with how little they played of the last game, I may somehow find the will to pass. Who am I kidding, Hulkbuster and Star Wars?

edited to add: Wait, there's a Vita version of the last game coming out this week, with Black Suit Spider man? Oh, Gamestop exclusive.

LOL, exactly! It's best not to fight. Give in to the dark side! :saber:

Heck, I still have a bunch of 1.0 figures and a few 2.0 figures in the gift closet waiting to be given out. We got in to Infinity late and there was no way we were blowing our gift wad right away. I'm dragging this out for as long as I can. ;)
