Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Oh, and in case anyone gets stuck on the challenges like "get 750,000 speedpoints in one session" or "get to heat level 9"
I found an easy way of doing this. I would find the nearest repair shop, and then hit a cop or start a chase. After a few mins, more and more cops would join pursuit. As long as you stay near the repair shop, you can keep driving through and repairing your car. And as long as you don't get busted, you can keep this going for as long as you like. So I would ram and take out a couple cops, repair car, and keep doing this until the challenge was complete. Best case scenario, you can still lose the cops or make it back to the safe house to bank all of the speed points. Worse case, you get busted and lose the points, but still compete the challenge. |

I remember getting a lot of mileage out of the new Corvette and the 911 GT3, and maybe one of the Lamborghinis before getting to the Pagani and finding that it fit me perfectly...or at least well enough to dominate my friends list. ;) |

Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
It's a bummer, I really enjoyed Rivals, though it is a very glitchy game and EA has done a lousy job supporting it since release.
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Yep, EA just confirmed there'll be no Need For Speed game in 2014.
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Good, we don't need a new NFS game every year. Take a year off and build something fantastic.
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Yeah, like a new Burnout!
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Hell, I'd settle for the exact same game we got, but with 60 FPS 1080p and no online glitches.
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Yeah, i'd love it if they did Burnout one year, then NFS the next year.
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Is there a chance of them of doing another Burnout? Or did they kill that franchise?

Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Rivals was great, but I think that a lot of people (including myself) were more impressed with the visuals and it being the new hotness on the new consoles, but not very innovative. Looking back on it now, it was a little repetitive, needed more variety of environments and maybe some weather effects and some night races. I still really enjoyed it though, and I keep meaning to get back to it to finish the cop career.
EA has tried to do a lot with the franchise over the years. They had that terrible Run game, they tried the Shift games a couple times, and Prostreet was a mess. Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted were great (probably more to do with Criterion) and the first 360 game (also Most Wanted) was awesome (Razor Callahan baby!). I wouldn't mind seeing them take a crack at the Underground series again. Carbon was close, but didn't have the same vibe. |
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
I love Rivals. Mechanics felt just like Burnout Paradise, likely because it had so many Criterion devs on the team, and it looked pretty too.
I guess I'd like to have seen a higher framerate, but otherwise, I think it's phenomenal, and I imagine it will be the game that keeps me from buying another racer anytime soon. |
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Yeah, I'd rather see them expand on Rivals for 2 (or 3!) years before releasing the next NFS/Burnout game. I don't want a yearly update... just worthwhile expansions to the existing game until it truly overstays its welcome. Burnout Paradise came out in Jan 2008, and the Big Surf Island expansion was released in June 2009 (with a bunch of random updates and cars and stuff in between). I'd like to see that sort of thing again, where the life of the game is extended significantly instead of just dumping a new game on us every 12 months.

Now is a good time to jump in if you haven't already. Especially since there is no new NFS game coming out this year

Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
$60 for a year-old launch game with nine additional DLC cars added? rotfl
I'll stick with EA Access for $30/yr, thank you. |
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
$60 is absurd for that. The PC Version, which still doesn't work right, is also $59.
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Agree that it's not worth $60, but I'd rather have this edition of Rivals than any of the other racing games on either console. I could see picking it up later when it's on sale, because it's a really great game. There's just something about the "Burnout" driving mechanics and the police chases that really make it a lot of fun to tool around in.
I currently own two retail disks for my PS4: Rivals and Last of Us |
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
Yeah, this is my favorite racer so far this gen.
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
I like NFS Rivals, but Forza Horizons 2 is better, IMO.
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
So this is on sale for $12 on PSN, worth it? I'm not really great at racing games, but I do enjoy the Burnout series.

Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
As the online community dies down, the game becomes worthless. In a year it'll be unplayable.
|
Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
It had plenty to do without the online component - it hardly required an online community, if at all.
$12 is more than worth it - not to mention, at that price, there should be a good influx of new people playing online. |

Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)
yeah, it's a fun game. I'd get it at that price if I didn't already *sorta* own it on the XO via EA Access.
If you have an Xbox One, put that $12 towards EA Access instead. If not, go buy it. |
