The always online part is kinda sucking on the PS4, keep getting host migration issues pulling me out of the game. :(

Played this for a couple of hours yesterday, and it's fantastic. It's fun to see how everyone stacks up on your friends list (there have been a bunch of really close times between Chess, Music, Chuck and I :)). The only things I don't like is how you can lose all of your points if you are busted. I thought I had paused the game, just to come back and find out that I was busted because you can't really pause the game. And when you get kicked off the server everything shuts down and you have to wait and restart. But everything else has been really fun and the game looks and sounds great.

Yeah, I'm finally loving it too, after some initial frustration. I played quite a bit today and finished the racer campaign.

It feels like the first real successor to Burnout Paradise to me, because the drift feels exactly the same where Most Wanted was just a bit less arcadey, and the world has the same type of variety from BP. It's sort of like a perfect mix of BP and NFS Hot Pursuit from PS2. I also love having proper night and weather affects.

I do have a few criticisms of the game...loading screens, occasional host migration and some artifacting that surely would have gotten ironed out if the game weren't rushed. Hopefully they have a couple of patches to mitigate some of that. The game also doesn't seem to be suited for online multiplayer with such a big world and so many players and nothing to really pull them together like common objectives.

Its funny, it kept seeing all those times and I realized that I keep placing 3rd to this forum LOL.

Re: Need For Speed Rivals (360, PS3, PC, PS4, XOne)

I unlocked the last of the racer cars last night. My recommendations for the campaign are to upgrade the Cayman until you unlock the Corvette, upgrade the Corvette until you get the R8, upgrade the R8 until you unlock the 918, upgrade the 918 until you unlock the Pagani. You could probably substitute the 911 for the R8 depending on how much you like to drift, because the R8 sticks like no other car in the game.

I was playing with a buddy online, and we hardly ever even saw each other unless we made a point to do it. There's really nothing in the game to pull you together like the challenges in Burnout Paradise. I'd almost like a mode without cops just for that purpose. I'm also at the point where I want to try for bigger jumps and that sort of thing, but I don't usually get more than one or two tries in before I get the cops riled up, so that's kind of a drag.

I absolutely love playing as a cop in this game. :)
The game was kind of frustrating at first, but now that I've got the hang of it, I'm really into it. I like that they give you a handful of specific tasks to accomplish, but you can completely avoid those if you want. I'm still pretty terrible at the game, but it's the most fun I've had since Burnout Paradise. I just wish you could have more than six players connected at a time. The map just feels way too big for such a small number. 12 would have been perfect, I think.

As a cop, using the pursuit tech is pretty much mandatory. It's nearly impossible to take a car down without some kind of assistance. I also hate/love that it's actually difficult to take a car down. Not like in Burnout where one crash is enough... this game requires more effort... which I hate and love at the same time. :) One of my targets was to bust 10 racers. That took a lot of patience.

How many chapters are there for the racer campaign?

I want to say it was 8, but I honestly stopped listening to the chapters early on because they were embarrassingly bad and only got worse. I was just focused on doing the objectives and unlocking cars.

Next for me is either cop mode or focusing on the times on my friends list to see who I need to beat now that I have my preferred car.

The best times in normal races have an element of luck depending on how involved the cops get, but the hot pursuit races, where the cops are always involved are edge of your seat crazy.

God damn right you did!

If you loved Burnout Paradise and nothing else quite recaptured that feeling, this will.

Yes, specially the BP reference. So if I don't like it I will send you the bill. ;)

If you were a "real life" friend, I'd probably say "fair enough". I feel that strongly about it. As a point of reference, I probably have 100 hours in BP and it's one of my maybe 5-7 platinum trophies. I love that game.

Rivals doesn't have BP's "easter egg hunt" quality, and it's missing the online challenges, but they are replaced with super tense chases and powers that are almost Mario Kart-like but without being cartoony. The driving mechanics are directly from BP. The sense of speed and sustained perfect drifts are spot on, where the other Criterion NFS titles felt a little bit off.

To be clear, this game isn't as polished or as good as BP, but it's different in a really interesting way while having those same delicious mechanics that you're nostalgic for.

Great. I've never played a NFS game, but I wanted something different from COD and FIFA, and I'm not that interested in Forza. So I thought this was a good option.

I will let you know when I receive the game.
