re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
One more week.
Wonder if there will be some kind of leak. If it has already been leaked. What kind of leaks? Name (probably), controller, console. The PS4 controller was leaked a few days before it was showed by Sony. |
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
Wasn't the "new" controller leaked a month ago? It's basically identical, but the dev kits are all zebra striped and shit.
|
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
I don't remember any controller pics released. Does it have any touch pad stuff like the PS4 controller?
|
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
I dunno, I remeber this article from the beginning of April:
http://kotaku.com/the-next-xbox-and-...ered-465487578 No new features or touch, which is fine by me. Gimmicky controllers are crap and the 360 controller is the best controller ever made, hands down. |
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
So no, nothing leaked.
|
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
8 more days...
|
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
From the Kotaku article:
The new controller, as we reported more than a year ago, is apparently a little smaller than the existing 360 one. |
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
Not sure if it was mentioned here, but Paul Thurrott (yes, THAT guy... again...) said on his Windows Weekly podcast that a source told him that the console will have a 500GB hard drive. He didn't go into any further detail.
Personally, I'd prefer a 120GB SSD over a 500GB HDD, but I'm spoiled by 7-second cold boot times in Windows 8... |
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
25-50GB mandatory installs, 500GB hard drive... hmm

500GB HD makes sense as the 360 now comes standard with a 320GB HD. It also makes sense if games will become available day-and-date on the Marketplace. |

re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
Was hoping for a minimum 1TB HD. I'm sure that'll be available but sold separately at some point.

Is the OS going to be on the HDD? Right now, the OS is on the firmware.
A coworker of mine had to buy a HDD add-on for his launch 360 last year, just so he could do the dashboard update. |

Nothing has been confirmed about the hard drive either. Just speculating about the speculations.

re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
I would definitely like to see a 1TB hard drive console available at launch.
|
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
Especially with the rumored DVR support for live TV.
|
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
There is zero reason to go with a 500GB drive when off the shelf drives are typically 1TB or better. They'd be starting out behind the curve like the original Xbox, where they had to put in larger drives (because they were cheaper to come by) and gimp it down to 8GB.
I'm still hoping for the OS on a SSD(for zippy boot up and load times) and a separate 1TB or better drive for storage. |
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
I personally would like to see with games that will not be any different between last gen and next gen (like call of duty ghost) with just the newer generation having higher resolution and better textures...the ability to play it between the 360 and Infinity. Microsoft has a beast on their hands with the 360, with MILLIONS still buying games. I have friends who will not buy the next system for a while, and it would be amazing to still play call of duty or other games with them if I decide to upgrade to the next generation.

re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
What's the RPM on the current 250GB & 320GB hard drives located in the 360 Slim? 5400 RPM?
While one can pick up a good 2.5" 750GB 7200 RPM for $80 (give or take) off the shelf, a 2.5" 1TB that isn't a piece of shit is nearly triple in price. If they're using a 2.5" 5400 RPM drive, a good 1TB off the shelf is usually $100. I'd like to point out that MS is still charging a SRP of $129 on the 320GB for the Slim. I would hope Microsoft continues to put the OS on the firmware allowing the HD to be used for strictly storage, but we'll have to wait and see... |
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
BB just had a 120 GB SSD for $129. Love to see that thing in there but it will never happen. At least not for a couple of years in the life of the new system.

I just don't see gaming consoles, let alone mainstream computing, picking up on SSDs as hard drive replacements until they are far cheaper in price. For "next-generation" gaming, 128GB is next-to-nothing. Again, I prefer Microsoft including the OS built into the firmware or via flash storage (if the Windows 8 rumor is true, 32GB is dirt cheap now) rather than the HD. That would help improve performance. |
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
^^ But if a consumer can get a SSD for $99, imagine Microsoft's leverage buying in bulk?
|
re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection
Or imagine shit that wasnt proprietary.
