Oh, I don't care. I'm mostly the same way. I was just pointing it out as it could be a new direction for Ubi.

Good lord... I think I've asked you before, but how much is MS paying you again?

Not sure why you keep asking me that. They could have been booing the PS4 and I would have made the same statement.

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??

I thought this had already been specified, but I guess not.

Xbox One supports partial-download play

The Xbox One will allow users to play games while they are being downloaded, a Microsoft representative confirmed with Polygon this week.

Microsoft previously noted that players could begin playing disc-based games during installation, though the company did not specify whether games downloaded from Xbox Live would share similar functionality. Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 supported partial-download play earlier this year.

Hmm, I just assumed that was the case already.

Look at the price history on camelcamelcamel, though (and remember it came out in November, despite being listed much earlier). It went on sale almost immediately. In fact, most ubisoft games may not have a lower MSRP right away, but within a month there's a Target or BB sale that cuts the price; I can't remember the last time this didn't happen.

I think the next gen versions of games will hold their prices a bit longer due to the limited software titles available for them at launch.

You are correct...and not only that I think we'll see far more content added via DLC that will make gamers hold on to the games longer. You can see this happening with games like Watchdogs, The Division and especially Destiny

It'll be interesting to see if the semi-annual TRU B2G1F sale will include the next gen games. I believe they usually do (and with the WiiU launch, I think Target did a similar deal near launch).

No, the TRU deal is in mid-October, so it'll be before the new-gen launch this year.

N64 was a mess?

I don't know if I would say PS3 was a mess... they just continued the somewhat lacking online component that they had with the PS2, instead of improving it greatly.

When viewed in comparison to the previous gens, I can see how the PS3 and N64 would be viewed as messes.

However if you're just looking at the two consoles from a current gen perspective they did pretty good; PS3 outsold X360 despite being on the market for a year less.

When you go from top dog(by a wide margin) to struggling to equal your competitor, yes, they were at least disappointment.

Yeah, I think I can back up both statements.

N64 had no third party support, as Nintendo stubbornly/arrogantly continued to rely on selling expensive cartridges to publishers. It was the first generation Nintendo clearly lost. For what it's worth, I personally think N64 had some of the best games of that generation (and all-time) with Mario 64, Zelda OoT, and Goldeneye and several other impressive first party titles, but there wasn't much after that. I'm honestly struggling to think of a title worth owning on N64 that wasn't from Nintendo or Rare. Sony sold 3 times as many PS1s as Nintendo sold N64s.

Likewise, this is the first generation Sony has lost. They lost to Nintendo on the hardware side and only arguably caught up with Microsoft on the software side in the past year or so and only because of their own first party titles. Like the N64, their stubborness/arrogance hurt their third party support and handed Microsoft a bunch of early exclusives and defacto lead console on many many others. Also their PR in 2006/2007 was almost as bad as MS's is now.

Those two are slam dunk cases IMO. The thinner cases on my list would have been Sega, who never really came close to winning a generation, and Microsoft, who only arguably won the current generation and only in North America. Looked at objectively, you could even say the original Xbox was a bad console...abondoned early and with not much other than Halo.

N64 Games:

WCW vs nWo - World Tour

WCW/nWo - Revenge

Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire

Yeah, Non-Nintendo/Rare games for me are usually wrestling and Star Wars

Gamecube was pretty similar:

Wrestling and Star Wars games.

Wii: Didn't have any of those exclusive games, so I only have:

Wii Sports and Sports Resort

New Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario All-Stars: 25th Anniversary Edition

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??

For the PS3 - Sony only lost to me, because of the poor multiplayer experience that my friends and I had.

This made the 360 the main gaming system and the PS3 was regulated to PS3 Exclusive and PS+ Deals.

Currently, my circle of friends have indicated they are getting the One, and some are also getting the PS4.

This is interesting. Forza 5 won't have the entire game on the disc, so it will require you to download the rest from their servers before you can play it. http://kotaku.com/forza-5-isnt-all-o...disc-807808829

On one hand, that's kind of ridiculous, but their reasoning is pretty valid.

Really, that's just a day one patch...which is already pretty common.

A patch implies small and optional. This says the game will not work without the download.

No it isn't. Finish the game then ship it. Don't put out a half-finished game just to meet a date.

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??

They were probably planning for the "original" Xbox One design. And when Microsoft changed plans they just decided to stay on plan.

Let's see how this "Play while downloading" really works. I really hope it works better than the experience I had with The Last of Us, I know it's PSN, but it had to download 80% of the game (total size around 25 GB) before I was able to start playing. That, in my wired, 20 down, connection took a little bit more than 3 hours.

For the first year I don't expect the times to be similar to movies, but I really hope it's no more than 1 hour of waiting time.

Patches aren't really optional in the current gen, so this isn't really new.

You can turn down any patch you want on 360.
