Re: Bungie - Destiny
That sounds insanely complicated and not particularly fun.
I'm betting they don't do anything to help users through the transition. Big thumbs down for ticket requirement. Another thumbs down for no matchmaking. The business/gameplay decisions for this game are very odd. For everything they fix, they introduce several new elements to make an unenjoyable experience. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
OK, here we go with today's Xur report, a lot later than usual due to my obsession to complete my Iron Banner bounties. Please...kill me...
This week's report will be a little different, it will be a photo essay documenting my feelings on seeing Xur's selection this week. Xur is located in Center Tower, by the Vanguard advisers. http://oi62.tinypic.com/102t8br.jpg This image represents Xur's balls, being tea-bagged on my Hunter's head. In other words, Xur's selection this week sucks balls. http://oi60.tinypic.com/20t5hec.jpg This was my Titan showing respect to Xur before checking out his deals. Upon exiting from them, I snapped this pic showing just how much Xur's sale this week sucks dick. If you're still reading, here's the deals: http://oi58.tinypic.com/2vsk8sp.jpg For the Titan, it's Ruin Wings with a terrible roll For the Hunter, it's Don't Touch Me Gauntlets with an even worse roll of 81. 81! I've had blue armor with more! For the Warlock, it's The Heart Of the Praxic Fire Chest. Decent Roll. The engram this week is for Gloves. Joy. Pulse/Hand Cannon/Machine Gun are the Telemetries. The Weapon this week is the Hard Light. Meh. The upgrades are there, you can see them. The only one with a decent roll is the Alpha Lupi Chest for the Titan. And that's that. I would have taken one for Xur sucking ass, but I didn't think of it until now. See ya next week! |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
One week I get a bit excited and come back to play, then Xur comes back and smacks me down to reality again on how this game still has broken elements and me asking, "Why?"

So yeah, "why?" I guess you could lock in a full set of bounties to be prepared for HoW, but meh. And  at the reaction to Xur. Praxic Fire doesn't show up all that often, and it's my favorite Warlock piece, and even with a bad roll, Ruin Wings are usually my armor choice on Titan. So he's offering my favorite armor for two of the three classes, and that sucks balls??? I think if you look at the offerings objectively for a person who hasn't played this game obsessively for eight months, it's actually a pretty good offering this week. OK, yeah, Hard Light is shit, but so are 95% of the other guns in the game. |

So the only way I could spend my coins is on heavy ammo or better rolls. So if the rolls are crap, then yeah, it's a pretty poor week. It could have been worse. It could have been No Backup Plans/Young Ahamkara's Spine/Starfire Protocol/No Land Beyond. But getting you on the side of Destiny, defending it even, makes the Xur Report successful! |

I sadly have to endure with two Gjallarhorns. It's hard, but I'll get by. ;) |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Finally did my very first few crucible matches yesterday... and, is it always this shitty?
I'm level 25, and my team of 6 consisted of people from levels 24 to 28, and the game pitted us against a group of player from levels 28 to 32. Needless to say, we got our asses handed to us, and didn't even get half the score of the other team. Thought it was a fluke, so I logged out and back in for another match, and same fucking thing; one group of people in their mid-20s vs one group at around 30. It wasn't even fun. Seriously, what the fuck is this shit? |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Did you do normal crucible matches or Iron Banner? If it wasn't Iron Banner everyone is put on a level playing field regardless of what level you are.

Tepid praise to be sure, but yeah, I thought it was a fine week for "normal" people who don't have everything they want (in my case) or everything ever (in your case).

Seriously, what the fuck is this shit? As Obey mentioned, in normal Crucible your level doesn't matter. The damage you take and the damage you give out are normalized. So a 25 will have the same health and deal the same damage as a 32. The only differences are the perks you've unlocked in your skill tree, and the perks of the weapons you use. Damage differences are normalized on weapons, relative to their impact rating. So a Level 2 gun that has the same impact as an Exotic will do the same damage. In Iron Banner, rank is supposed to matter, but in the end the settings are so small that it amounts to almost nothing. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
I don't think were were playing against a fireteam. Each match was just so thoroughly lopsided, I guess it had to be, which doesn't make it any better.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
okay, so I played Destiny a bunch when it came out, finished the main story, crucible, iron banner, etc. I have a level 24 hunter. Now that I am done with Bloodborne I was thinking of coming back to Destiny for a bit.
I guess my question is....do I need "Dark Below" to keep playing? I know a bunch of stuff changed and will change again with House of Wolves. Is Dark Below worth it? I haven't even run the Vault of Glass so Crota's End isn't a big selling point for me. |

IMO, no, you don't need TDB now. I recommend you play the 'vanilla' game again, get into a VoG raid, and see how you like it. If you like it, then just get HoW as I think they are making TDB free (?) ... not sure on that though. Either way, HoW will let you upgrade your VoG armor and other legendary/exotic armors.
I'll have to check with you guys on a VoG raid as I have nobody else to play with, haha. Matchmaking in some of this would be nice. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Yeah, I think you're right. Only the MP maps are free. Oh well, VoG is the better raid anyway. Trust me, you don't want matchmaking in a raid. Even though I complained about it initially, Bungie did get that part right as there are a lot of douchebags out there, present company excluded of course. :)
Try to group with the Daggers or set one up via LFG. If you go LFG, explain beforehand that you are new to the raid. Most will be cool and show you the ropes. |

Other than running Crota's End, and maybe the current weapons and gear could be locked out. And really, who could live without a Dragon's Breath, No Land Beyond or 4th Horseman? (OK, I don't know about the last one) |

(on second thought, I hardly bothered with any of the quest exotics)

Re: Bungie - Destiny
next patch (likely today) to probably include the following
dbeadles-PatchNotes-20150501-1.2.0 Fixed a bug where the Hive Disruptor perk on the Black Hammer would interrupt with White Nail. Fixed a bug where a player leaving a game or an occurrence of host migration would result in players being unable to respawn. Fixed a rare bug where if a player were to use a consumable it would reset their ammo. Increased the percent chance to obtain rewards when playing crucible. Players who preform at the top of their team in crucible have a greater chance of rewards as to those at the bottom. Fixed a bug where the time between shots of the Black Hammer to activate White Nail was reduced. Fixed a rare bug where a locked item could not be unlocked. Reduced the amount of total ammo of the perk Double Down when combined with Field Scout. Increased the percent chance of activating the perk Mulligan upon missing a shot. Fixed a bug where players were able to obtain Iron Banner weapons according to the rank of their previous Iron Banner. Changed the description of certain perks to be more fitting with their abilities. Fixed a bug where a player would lose all ammo upon switching special weapons in the crucible. Added reward packages for players who participate in the daily featured crucible activity for their first game. Added Crucible maps from The Dark Below to the normal Crucible rotation for Control, Clash, Skirmish and Rumble. (Pantheon, Skyshock and The Cauldron). |

Ok, we are an hour away from the reveal and Scott isn't posting here yet in preparation. What has this world come to? ;)

WE are now around 40 minutes away from the live stream, and Destiny itself is currently offline for maintenance, presumably to apply the 1.2.0 updates to the game itself. The patch is not up for download as of yet. It's possible the patch will be small enough to be downloaded through the game itself rather than through console like the last one. Either way, they picked a good time to go down, with everyone waiting for the feed to start. http://www.twitch.tv/bungie/ for those that can watch. And stick around right here for my live thoughts if you can't. I have some Chorizo in me, so my comments could be a little...spicy. |

Stand down, Guardians. There will be some downtime this morning. And, yes, we are tinkering behind the scenes. No player-facing changes will go live today. Patch notes will land at a later date between now and May 19. I'll provide more details when they're available. |
