I was going to do some IB this time around, but when I saw that you had to start over in rank, I was like f that. Not that I didn't know that was coming, I was just hoping they would be nice for a change.

Iron banner will reset every time from now on. I really doesn't take long to get to rank 4 to get the armor. Problem is you need a boat load of glimmer.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Finished my third Nightfall yesterday and got [drumroll] a shitty purple rocket launcher.
I'm probably done with the game for the week, unless I try to run some bounties this weekend. I would sort of like to get Eris leveled up.

You should probably pop on today and grab one of her bounties. She has one for completing 5 other bounties in a single day. It's basically a free bounty.

Bungie Weekly Update - 01/15/2015
by DeeJ
This week at Bungie, we eliminated some cheese from Crota’s diet. Of course, as a famous mathematician – ahem, Chaotician – once said, “Life finds a way.” There will always be shortcuts through the maze
Of all the ways you can kick ass and become legend in Destiny, we believe the Raid can be one of the most intense, challenging, and satisfying. We hope you feel the same. For us, Raids aren’t just puzzles to be solved in short order, but an opportunity to summit Destiny’s pinnacle PvE content, plant a flag with friends, and claim some prestigious rewards.
If you like Crota’s End just the way it is, keep playing, however you’re playing. Have fun. Do your thing, and earn some sweet loot for the effort. We’re watching and playing right alongside you.
If you were hoping that Crota might offer you and your favorite five allies more of a challenge, I’ve a suggestion to keep you all occupied...
Death Race 2015
Hard Mode for Crota’s End is ready. We know you are, too. The first Fireteam to sink their teeth (and their sword) into the final boss (and by opposing, end him) will set the pace. We’ll be watching. We might even send the World First finishers some swag from the Bungie Store.
When?
Wednesday, January 21st - 10AM* Pacific
*(or soon after if we need more time to load the starting pistol)
Where?
To the Moon!
Access the Raid by selecting the activity in your Director, and choosing the harder difficulty. With the release of Hard Mode, Level 33 is the new bar to clear. Configure those upgrades and get mean.
How?
I can’t give you a playbook for how to end Crota this time. You don’t need my help, anyway. If you’ve experienced Hard Mode in Vault of Glass, you have some clues for how we can scale up a Raid. Prepare to take better care of your teammates. You’ll have fewer options for healing yourself, and each other. The enemies you’re about to face are stronger and more prone to temper tantrums. Be brave!
Loot?
Loot! Aside from the usual thrill of battling aliens with your favorite weapons and your most trusted allies, Hard Mode beckons with treasures all its own. We reserved some coveted rewards for the best raiders among you. Killing Crota will give you all a fighting chance to earn them. Check out the hardware:
WEAPONS
Primary Weapons of every variety can be plundered from the Hellmouth. With the application of some loving care and Radiant Materials, each has the potential to reach Maximum Attack of 331.

Don’t forget that Hard Mode is also the only place to obtain “Crux of Crota,” the final piece needed to upgrade the Eidolon Ally (the gun formerly known as Husk of the Pit) to its full, Necrochasmic glory.

SHIPS
That’s Bane of the Dark Gods, in orbit over its port of origin

SHADERS
Finally, there’s also a Hard Mode Exclusive color palette for your gear. It’s called Glowhoo. The first of you to earn it gets to show it off.
On Your Marks!
Tuesday, January 20th
Update 1.1.0.4. will set the table. Patch Notes will be published when it’s available for download.
Get Set!
Wednesday, January 21st
Follow us on Twitter. There will be a manual start for Hard Mode. I’ll swing from vine to vine in our studio and give you a glimpse at what it’s like when we push big red buttons. Our target will be 10AM Pacific (West Coast). Just like you, we hit most of what we shoot for. Nevertheless, stay tuned.
GO!
As always, we’ll be watching, and waiting for a band of hellraising heroes to emerge. Bungie User Research will be on hand to ratify the results.
Good luck. I do hope you’ll need it

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Ladies and Gentlemen, I will start this Xur report by saying this: Xur does not disappoint this week. Trust me, this is the week you've been waiting for...
So here we go with this week's Xur report, brought to you by the A/B/C team, that fought through the hell that is the Templar, and came out with an evening full of glitches and frustration only to land in the tentacled face of Xur's glory. Xur offers a mix of new items, along with one very long awaited return.
Xur is located in Central Tower, next to the Crucible Quartermaster.
For sale this week:

For the Titan, it's the Glasshouse helmet. That's a new item from Xur that has intellect and makes weapons of light and blessing of light last longer. Not bad.
For the Hunter, it's the Achlyophage Symbiote helmet. It's the best Hunter helmet, gives you an extra bullet for your golden gun, and makes you looks like you have herpes.
For the Warlock, it's the Obsidian Mind Helmet, another Xur first timer. Trust me, YOU WANT THIS. It replenishes your Nova Bomb with kills from your Nova Bomb. It's all black and looks badass. It is by far the best Warlock Helmet.
The engram this week is nothing...again.
The weapon this week, is, and the picture does not lie, the ICE BREAKER! Yes folks, the mighty Ice Breaker is back in Xur's collection. 17 Strange Coins. If you have one, buy two. If you have none, buy 3. If you can't afford 3, you haven't been playing Destiny enough.
This week's upgrades:
For the Hunter, it's the Achlyophage Symbiote Helmet (2nd Time), and the Lucky Raspberry Chest (2nd Time)
For the Titan, it's the Crest Of Alpha Lupi Chest (3rd Time), and No Backup Plans Gauntlets (3rd Time)
For the Warlock, it's the Skull Of Dire Ahamkara (1st Time) and Light Beyond Nemesis (2nd Time) Helmets
The weapons this week:
Bad Juju (1st Time)
The Last Word (4th Time)
Plan C (3rd Time)
Pocket Infinity (2nd Time)
Thunderlord (3rd Time)
Gjallarhorn (4th Time, Xur gets a rest from profanity this week)
The symbiote helmet is up for sale or upgrade. Buy the helmet and scrap the old one. The one on sale is better. The Lucky Raspberry upgrade is better than the one sold last week.
The Alpha Lupi chest is not the best roll, but it's OK. No Backup Plans is a horrible roll, and not a good piece anyway.
The Ahamkara helmet is a decent roll and it's a first timer. Nemesis has a decent roll this week.
We're now down to three exotics that Xur hasn't offered for upgrade:
Voidfang Vestments
Invective
Vex Mythoclast (will likely not be offered)
Obviously, buy an Ice Breaker, or 2, or 3. No more excuses. Every dagger better have an Ice Breaker!

Thanks for the update and Xur Report Scott....
I have all (3) of the Exotic Helmets up for sale and might upgrade the Warlock's Nemesis but I have the Raid Helmet and the Obsidian so might save the glimmer for upgrades....
But as you've mentioned...No More Excuses!!!!....Mandatory that All Daggers Have Three Ice Breakers!!!

Sweet, I'll jump on tonight and pick up the Icebreaker and Warlock helmet. So if I break down my fully upgraded exotic Light Beyond Nemesis helmet, what would it give me?

Awesome! Although I'm not playing regularly anymore, the Obsidian Mind Helmet and Ice Breaker were too good to pass up! Nice to have them just in case I start firing Destiny up again on the regular...

I believe you do get "Two Exotic Shards" on fully upgraded Exotics when you dismantle which is good since the Exotic Shards cost (7) Strange Coins each

Due to the extreme lateness of the hour and the disappointment/frustration of the VOG hard-run glitch fest we just tried to do, I may not have sounded as excited as I really felt about finally getting the elusive IB. Trust me, this is how I felt/feel...

And I'm pretty sure Cruz still thinks it was all a dream.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
bought 2 Ice Breakers last night at the switchover but I think it glitched the one I already have
I think it has caused me to regenerate strange coins .... or maybe I just had a lot
fyi .... for all you new Ice Breaker virgins .... please read your instructional manual that came with it
of course we know one of its greatest perks is the ability to regen ammo for itself
but don't forget (or if you don't already know) you can use it to regen ammo for other special weapons
ex. you may be in a situation where you want to use a fusion rifle or may be using a sniper with different elemental damage like P&T and you run out of ammo be it by juggler or you just aren't getting any dropped .... switch over your special weapon to IB, let it charge up ammo if it isn't at 6 already (doesn't have to be fully loaded) and then switch back to the special weapon you previously had equipped and it will now have ammo in the chamber
welcome to the club new IB users and please don't leave the tower without it
also was very happy to pick up Obsidian Mind last night as well

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Checked Scott's update as I do every Friday morning. Was thrilled to see what I had been waiting for for several weeks. Grabbed my Vita to take with me to work as those fucking sniper rifles would be mine. Got to work and logged in and grabbed three of them, one for each character. FUCKING FINALLY!!!
Bittersweet, as I am going to miss Musick's constant "lack of an Icebreaker" jabs at me.
