I'd seriously doubt that, as it would be too similar to AC3 in look & feel, which didn't work out in hindsight. I wanna say feudal Japan or Victorian London.

I agree. It's disappointing cause we might've gotten a Civil War era game if AC3 had been decent.

Re: Assassin's Creed 4 (2014)

I guess it's a good thing that thanks to the dual characters (Desmond/whoever) they can move the overall story forward, and change up the historical section to wherever they want.

Re: Assassin's Creed 4 (2014)

I thought AC in Ancient Egypt would be great setting but that will never happen.

http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2012/...sins_creed_iii

Ubisoft: Ancient Egypt Too "Boring" for Assassin's Creed III
For Farouk's sake
Ancient Egypt was an amazing time. People wore more make-up than a modern day super model. Slaves dragged huge hunks of rock across the sand to build elaborate tombs the size of housing estates. And everyone totally loved cats.

But, sadly, none of that was enough to convince Ubisoft that the mysterious time period was perfect for Assassin’s Creed III. In fact, the publisher decided it was too “boring”.

Ubisoft’s Alex Hutchinson explained:
People on the internet suggest the most boring settings. The three most wanted are WWII, feudal Japan and Egypt. They're kind of the three worst settings for an AC game.

Despite this, Hutchinson did continue that there was some serious interest in taking the series to India:
[Assassin's Creed 3 writer Corey May] really wants to do India. I would too. I'd really love to do the Raj.

We’ve still got our panties in a bunch over the publisher considering things like mummification “boring”. Has no one at Ubisoft ever watched those brilliant Brendan Fraser movies? Hey, don’t scoff – they’ve got Rachel Weisz in them so they’re ok with us.

You can read more about the sequel Ubisoft did decide to make in our Assassin's Creed III First Impressions.

What about something with a pirate theme in the Caribbean? I guess Havana would be the main city.

It would be a good excuse to bring back the naval combat from ACIII.

Feudal Japan would be boring.

Re: Assassin's Creed 4 (2014)

The French Revolution is one of the most requested settings, but he didn't mention it... because it would be perfect. And it would be easy to have it dovetail with Assassin's Creed III, following so closely after the American Revolution. Which makes me think they're seriously considering it.

He also didn't mention Victorian England, which would also be a lot of fun. Imagine a memory sequence where you hunt Jack the Ripper? May want to wait on this after Dishonored.

Early 20th century Tsarist Russia would also be perfect but was covered in the (actually quite good) comics The Fall and The Chain. The (mediocre at best) French-authored comic series headed to ancient Egypt, so they won't use that setting.

I do think they'll move backward in time, not continue moving forward.

Perhaps late 15th century Habsburg Hungary in the Long War with the Ottoman Empire? I guess the technologically superior but ultimately losing side of the Hungarians could be presented as the Templars. You've even got a historical villain in the form of Countess Elizabeth Bathory of Transylvania who was said to have killed something like 650 girls and, it was later rumored, bathed in their blood.

I agree with the developers; no need to go to feudal Japan (or whatever). It's been done to death.

I don't think that's real because it's way early. But if so, I just might get my wish for a pirate-themed game!

They say it's supposed to run in stores starting on March 4.

But I'm the opposite of you. Pirates and I'm out

Re: Assassin's Creed 4 (2014)

A Caribbean themed game would tie into 3 nicely and allow for them to expand on the naval battles; which was the best part of 3. The main cities could be Port Au Prince, Havana, Kingston...etc. I'd be in for a game with that setup.

Today I am bringing you the first rumored image and information known of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. The main characters name is Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3. Edward is known as a Privateer, Assassin and occasional pirate. The games location is set in the Caribbean on multiple islands including Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas.

Re: Assassin's Creed 4 (2014)

Well they took one of the best parts of AC 3 and made it a full game then?

As long as he's nothing like his lameass son (or even more lameass grandson) and more like a pirate version of Ezio, he could be a cool character. And I hope they are expanding the naval battles. Those were indeed the best parts of AC3.

So wait, are they not taking this year off then? I wouldn't think they would start talking about this game now if it's not coming out until sometime in 2014.

Fiscal 2014, which starts in April. So it'll be out this year.

It doesn't seem like it. They're basically doing another "Ezio Trilogy" but with an ancestor of the AC3 characters rather than the same characters from AC3. The question is if the next expansion pack - err - pseudo sequel will feature the same character from AC:BF or yet another ancestor (or perhaps a direct descendant) of Connor instead.

I guess the game after this one will be called Assassin's Creed: Raid.

Well that's disappointing. They are trying their best to pull a Call of Duty and drive this franchise into the ground.
