Especially if you have a gaming PC. For $500, you can get a new video card and a bazillion games.

And three franchises that don't need another entry for years.

I'd like a new Metroid. I'll even accept a 2D one, since they love making 2D Marios these days.

Well Sony and MS are billing these things as all-purpose entertainment devices, in some instances the gaming is secondary. I only bought a PS3 because my DVD player died and I decided to upgrade to a BluRay player. At the time, PS3 was still the best BR player on the market so I got that, and decided to pick up a couple games with it.

A console is also more social-friendly. I like having a console in case I have friends over, we can play fighting games or multiplayer action games, etc. With just a PC you're stuck with playing online for multiplayer.

On top of that, I think some genres are better for one platform than the other. Fighting games only work for me on a console with a controller, and FPS games are much better on a PC with a keyboard and mouse. I couldn't imagine playing the Batman Arkham games on a PC, my friend got them through Steam and said that the controls were clunky. I played Fallout 3 on my PS3, but ended up buying it on PC during a Steam sale when I realized how much better the graphics could look on my machine. However games that are designed for a console won't really look any better on a PC, so I'm fine with playing them on my PS3.

Once they get wireless HDMI built into graphic cards (outside of just the Miracast-rific Nvidia Shield thing) I can see it working pretty well. Steam Big Picture is an excellent console interface.

I actually don't like gaming at my PC anymore, so while I play PC games, I only play the ones that map well to the 360 control pad.

Crazy talk.

Give me:

• An HD Mario Galaxy that includes the first two games in HD and with waggle removed
• A 2D Metroid in the vein of Super Metroid
• A 2D Metroid in the same engine with remakes of Super Metroid, Zero Mission and Fusion
• A new Metroid Prime from Retro
• An isometric Zelda with HD graphics
• A 3D Zelda that's set in the future with all new gadgets

But by all means, stop making the same 5 games over and over and still making me do obnoxious tutorials for them.

My only regret is that I used "Mercenary" instead of "Yakuza" in my fake EA title.

Or use a 360 controller on PC. That's what I used for Batman Arkham City and Tomb Raider on my PC, while using Keyboard/Mouse for FPS games like Bioshock Infinite. Best of both worlds!

Well I only bought the PS3 to be a bluray player, since I had it, I figured I'd play fighting/action games on the PS3 so I can sit on the couch and enjoy it with the controller. I never got used to the 360 controllers, having used playstation controllers since the original PS1. I'm sure there are decent PS3 controllers for PC, but I already own a PS3 so I figure why not buy some games for it. Plus I like to play fighting games when my friends come over, we have a drinking game for Soul Calibur and Guilty Gear and the more people lose and drink, the more shit they talk.

Oh definitely, i'm just saying playing games on PC doesn't automatically mean you're stuck with clunky controls.
