My understanding (which might be incorrect!) is that there will be a separate PS5 version, but the upgrade path from PS4->PS5 will be free.

Developers can do 'soft' updates to make their PS4 games play better on PS5, but if you want straight-up next-gen stuff like ray-tracing, there has to be a distinct PS5 build. The road to get there can be free, like Sackboy and Miles Morales, but they're technically distinct versions.

2 out of 3 of my gamer co-workers never heard of Cyberpunk. I dont think this game is getting marketed well if they haven't seen or heard of this game.

I'm willing to bet it's been of the 5 most marketed games of the year.

That's not really a bold statement in the final year of a console's life as next gen launches. Sony had TLOU2 and Ghost, Nintendo had the fancy Mario Kart, Microsoft had... ?

So yeah, biggest marketing campaign wasn't really a high bar this year.

Well, in terms not being Marketed Enough....that's part yes and part no...but one of several reason is is the game got super hyped back in E3 2019 Awards...then went thru almost 4-5 delays this year that for the most part a lot of games have had the same. Throw in most of the Game Coverage over the past two months has been almost all XBox Series X and PS5 along with games meant for them...which those too several have been pushed back. Add to this time of year...the traditional Black Friday Game Sales everyone looks for which with the shortage of Nex Gen out there amost all were looking for solid established games with great discounts.....just a lot going on...

How many Times Has Cyberpunk 2077 Been Delayed .... How many times has Cyberpunk 2077 been delayed? (msn.com)

I'm still a little fuzzy about the release : We're getting a PS4 version at launch enhanced for PS5 but there will be a separate PS5 version to download for free sometime in 2021?

I think that's right. Also if current botched deadlines are any indication, I wouldn't expect an actual next-gen version until 2022.

Something like that, yeah. I'd rather play a game this long on my TV/Home Theater but I may go PC just for the better visuals. Still haven't decided.

The PS4 version works on the PS5 (and runs better w/ day 1 patch) and will have a free downloadable "enhancement pack" sometime in 2021.
The PS5 version will be the PS4 version w/ the "enhancement pack" already applied and will be available sometime in 2021.

The enhancement pack will likely include things like raytracing and more detailed texture packs.

I have the option on my PC setup to play at the TV/Theater or at the PC itself, and I will do it at the computer for keyboard and mouse controls on a game like this... though I do have pretty good sound in there as well. I was able to get a 3080, so I'm hoping to be able to crank graphics settings up all the way with solid frame rate. Can’t wait!

Yeah, I build a new PC around the 3080 I was able to get so my PC would out-perform the PS4 version by quite a bit I'd imagine.

Would a PS4 game installed on the PS5 internal storage take advantage of the NVMe drive speed to its potential? Or does it being a PS4 game mean loading time will still be poor in comparison?

The former.
I've played Bloodborne PS4 on my PS5, installed on the NVMe. Loading times are exponentially improved, along with a smoother framerate. But otherwise, there are no "enhancements" to the game.
IMO, it's worth it to install any actively-played game on the NVMe.

Thanks! It's good to know that if I go PS4 I won't lose the loading time advantage. After playing games like Valhalla on PC, I don't think I could go back.

Just read a handful of reviews. Sounds like even with all the delays it’s still a buggy mess. One review said to wait and play it in 6 months, it might be a good game by then. Two reviews gave scores. Gamespot gave it a 7 and PC Gamer gave it a 78/100. Think I’ll wait for more patches and a price drop.

Were the buggy comments based on the console or PC version (or both)?

IGN says they haven't touched a console version yet and it's all based on PC version

Here’s an article I read that had several reviews with links to the full reviews. Seems like they were mostly PC based?

They are all PC versions as the console version review copies were going out today, so you won't see anything for console until later.

If you suffer from epilepsy, you may want to think trice about playing this game: https://www.gameinformer.com/2020/12...-epileptic-psa

Probably because they have played a pre release version. It was stated yesterday that there is a day 1 patch of 43gb. Remember that these folks have been playing on a copy that was burned probably several weeks ago at this point. I imagine that day 1 patch will do a lot in rectifying many of those issues.
