Re: Cyberpunk 2077 (12/10/2020: PS4, XB1, PC)
I finished the main quest yesterday. It was the semi-happy ending where Panaam helps you on the quest.
This morning, I went back and did the Arasaka ending, which was bleak and fucked up. I'll probably do the Johnny Silverhand one tonight.
I guess the way it tabulated the hours spent, it took me about 85 to finish it. Glad I leveled up, too, because it was not that hard to beat. I am shitty when it comes to stealth, but I leveled up in Engineering/Intelligence/Reflexes more than Body and Cool. I leveled up to 49 by the end of it.

is athletics leveling bugged?
I'm character level 7 but my athletics is still at level 1 0% progression.
I've tried running jumping shadowboxing but it still remains 0/500

I also don't know what increases it. I'm mid 20's for level and my athletics is 2. No idea what I did to get it there from 1. Jumping around doesn't increase it (like back in the day in Morrowind).

Yeah, I've only ever noticed it go up while running. Kind of disincentivizes driving, although the driving physics do that as well.

Anything involving physical attacks or movement, such as sprinting/running, jumping, diving, punching bare-fisted, etc.
Using Melee Weapons also increases Athletics, such as using the Katana, as well as ripping open doors with the Gorilla Arms attached.
There are ways you can exploit leveling it up, like using Berserk Mods.

I don't know what I did to deserve good luck but I was able to play for a solid 3 hours straight without a crash yesterday. Game is much more fun when you're not constantly reloading.
Is there a stat you need to raise to survive the street fights? I did one against two people which was easy. I went to another (and was happily surprised to see my boy Oboz) and he destroyed me. Even blocking his punches took off like half my health. I'm level 25, Street Cred 50.

Did you do the street fights in order? Ozob is the second to the last of those, so he would be more difficult to beat. I think you have to raise your Body perk level a bit higher and and add some perks to your brawling skills. Not melee, but I believe there's specific brawling perks. I didn't bother with those street fights until I was really high in level.

Yeah, in your journey map, it will list them in order and also difficulty. It says Risk: moderate, high, and very high. Once you start leveling up, their risk lowers. I believe the second fight is with a black dude that has a sniper rifle. You can bet him cash and the rifle, but when I did that and beat him, it glitched and I did not get my money - just the shitty sniper rifle. I went back from a previous save and just bet him money and I beat him.

I just did those fights after getting the legendary gorilla arms. That helped. Dodging is rather important in some of those fights, though. Blocking just doesn't cut it, at least for the one battle.

I’m just starting this and I am starting the second mission so I have to start by getting a gun. I did that and now feel like an idiot and can’t find the gun or how it use it. This isn’t my first rodeo. I’ve played games for my whole life. This is just an odd set up to me

Oh that's right. Get those Gorilla Arms! They start out expensive at about 45000 Eddies, so make sure you can add the perks that reduce prices. I had the Gorilla Arms with the added fire perk thing. I'd punch someone and they'd get set on fire. It was funny.

Oh, speaking of eddies, how does everyone make money? Seems like crafting uncommon guns to sell for about 500 each isn't bad. I'm up to 130k but some cars cost more than that individually.

Side gigs, NCPD gigs, etc. I also did not buy that many cars until I was almost done with the game. I also used to pick up a lot of stuff and sell it at those drop-off points throughout. The same with vendors. You can sell your excess garbage. If you're gonna carry a lot, make sure you increase your carrying capacity perk.

Thanks; just curious how others have done it. I haven't bought a single car yet; still just using Jackie's bike.
I finally bought the perk to auto break down junk items. The couple hundred a go when I sell them isn't worth it anymore, with the amount of money I have.

I might end up doing a review of this. Some rando thoughts ...
*) While seeing a fat guy walk past I thought "That dude needs a belly wheel!" One of the RPG careers is Cop, so a Megacity One spin off of this would be great! They have a perfect foundation laid.
*) They do some good setups in places. Early on, when you and Jackie talk your way past the cops ... that interaction puit me on the side of the cops for the rest of the game
*) I was REALLY immersed at times.
*) The 45 minute section where you don't get to play the game sucked. IE: the story mission where things go south till where you get Johnny. I found this incredibly boring.
*) Eateries, pharmacies, hacking, clothing stores make no sense. NEITHER DO RIPPER DOCS AND GUN STORES. Money, in general is pointless. I'm running a pistol in V's base corporate wear and having no issues, on my second play through.
*) Money, shops, difficulty ... it all seems pointless. There is something having to do with this that the game industry in general hasn't figured out, and this game in particular. When I think "I'm wasting my life playing this." then the game isn't doing a great job.
*) Level design is inconsistent. From the most linear to the most engaging. The NCPD Organized Crime sites are some of my favorites, so far, in this respect.
*) The open world events are grreat, from the gangers hanging out to the "sudden star" police action stuff that you drive by. They should be more ephemeral, random, and with more voice acting to make them go unique
The date "date night" missions are written by a 6 year old
*) There is WAYYYYYY too much emphasis on shards to communicate information for those icon sites
It's interesting, I've done about 3000 D&D adventure reviews and I see some of the same mistakes crossing genre, especially the shards/diaries/journals stuff ,

At this point, I think I'm just gonna wait to get this on the PS5, not just waiting until I'm able to get a PS5 easily, but until the actual made-for the PS5 version is released, whenever that may be.

I refunded my Steam version of this, but still plan to re-buy later this year when the next gen update comes out. I'd bet I'll be able to grab a PS4 copy to upgrade for under 20 before then.
