Then again, Deadlight was another zombie game that looked amazing in trailers (and got its own thread here as well), but the final game was certainly not so hot.

IGN has been posting 15 minute gameplay videos with commentary. I think it looks fantastic, can't believe this is an arcade title.
I don't think an official release date has been announced yet (this month though), and IGN is posting their review on Wed.

Major Nelson tweeted that this comes out Wednesday for 1600 points. I'll wait for IGN's review, but from what i've seen, this should be a instant purchase for me.

Game looks very nice. Watching the recent video on IGN a few minutes ago gave me a chuckle when a zombie climbed up and over a fence with barbed wire and wiggled through the barbed wire.

I bought it earlier. Hope it is finished downloading, as I want to get rolling here with it shortly.

Looking forward to your guys' thoughts before I purchase this. It looks intriguing but the IGN video made it look boring as hell (the three minutes or so I watched).

It starts out slow as shit, that's for sure. About an hour or so in. Just wandering around collecting shit. Finally got to a point where I've got other survivors.

Re: State of Decay
About 3.5 hours in, so far, so good. It seems very much like a crossover of Left 4 Dead and Dead Island. I like that you can swap between survivors, but that poses problems because if you don't really consistently swap, the characters don't build up their skills as quickly. I'm at a point where I now have 11 survivors.
Some of the features are cool. Upgrading your camp is cool because you can decide what to do with it. There's a neat radio feature where it finds you supplies and you can go out and collect. Furthermore, when you do find a cache of food/weapons/supplies/whatever, you can call someone in to come pick it up, so you don't have to lug it back. Kind of neat. You can also make improvised outposts that are fortified to help you out.

Hard to say if it is worth $20 since I'm so early in it.

Yes, I'm enjoying it. Some new features. The graphics aren't anything special, but I wasn't expecting them to be since this is a live title.

Was going to wait for the PC version but since it sounds like it might be a while, I decided to grab the XBLA version. Pretty fun game so far, some cool ideas. I'm actually surprised it took so long for someone to create a zombie GTA clone. Closest we got before was Dead Island I guess. I just wish the graphics were a bit better, they are really quite bad, and they couldn't even enabled V Sync?

Around 140,000 people bought this yesterday. Not bad for a $20 digital game that isn't named Minecraft.
I played through the demo and liked it alright. Onto the want list it goes.

Picked this up yesterday and put about an hour and a half into it. Really liking it so far. Luckily Jury Duty that I was supposed to have today got cancelled and it's supposed to rain all day, so I'm gonna park my ass in front of the tv and play this for a while.

Well, it makes sense, merge two highly successful "genre's" and you have a license to print money, as long as it's even remotely decent.

Few additional thoughts.
They give you a ton of side missions. Stuff pops up all over. if you are low on a certain type of supply, you can put a call out and then you'll get a notification they found it. the upgrading the base camp is a cool RPG-ish addition. you can grow your own food, make stuff, repair stuff and a lot of other things.
The swapping between characters is good and bad. The good is that if you continue to use the same person, they get tired. Their stamina won't hold up and they are shit in battle. The downside is at one point in my game, I needed to switch, but couldn't because my other main character was busy doing a task. I had to sit around for a while. I've lost one survivor so far. Fucker got ripped to shreds. Unfortuantely, as I posted before, it was one of those people I never used, so he had virtually no skills in battle. So he got tired faster and sucked at using weapons.
Guns in this are nearly pointless (so far to me). They alert zombies and you have to get a heat shot every time to kill. They are good for distance based attacks and for letting your stamina build back up, but that's mainly it. You can build/find supressors, but right now all of mine are temporary use.
The driving in this borders on horrific. Some of the high performance cars you'd think would drive well (mustang) don't at all. Trucks are best for straight up driving around, their durability and taking out zombie hordes.

I got a question. How do I call in for a pickup on supplies? I press the Y button, and it just closes the looting window and nothing happens.

Re: State of Decay
Sorry, I'm confusing 2 things. You do hit Y to get to menu. Call in scavengers will bring someone from your camp to come pick up the supplies automatically.
The down on d pad thing is for special skills you can do but also works by calling in scavengers.
