No. I mean calling it Far Cry 3 : Blood Dragon will make everyone think it's DLC, despite clearly indicating in the description that it's a stand-alone game. People would be less likely to think that if it were called Far Cry : Blood Dragon (though I'm sure some would still think it's DLC).

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)

Maybe because people who played FC3 really liked the game. It's easier to sell this game if it's somehow related to FC3, my guess.

And of course, after watching the video, they just skinned the main game. Being a big fan of FC3, I will probably try this.

This is a mute argument. It's downloadable. It's content. Hence DLC. It doesn't matter if it's an add-on or not. Do you see a physical release? No. So it's DLC.

Not every drink served after dinner is an after-dinner drink. Not every movie made by, starring, and targeted to adults is an adult movie. Not every pitch thrown from the mound that travels quickly to the batter is a fastball. Not every whale capable of killing a human being is a killer whale. Not every pair of shoes worn in the snow are snowshoes (though I think it's safe to say any pair of shoes worn by a horse are indeed horseshoes).

The generally accepted definition of DLC is content that is additional add-on content to an existing game that is distributed by online means. Here's the Wikipedia page on Downloadable Content for you to peruse.

Wow. That was both philosophically deep and educational. I feel enlightened. You win the internet for today.

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)

If you don't need the original game to play the "DLC" then is it really DLC or a separate release? Not every game has to have a physical release to be its own game. I truly feel that they should have called this Far Cry: Blood Dragon and not Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Not really a big deal either way but would still be a bit dumbfounding for people that don't spend lots of time on game forums like we do.

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)

I'm afraid this'll end up like all the other Far Cry games for me; looking really awesome, but when I go to play it, there'll be some huge difficulty barrier to me that I just can't overcome and I give up barely 10% into the game.

Never played any Far Cry game before, but I'm blind-buying this one tomorrow, motherfucking Mark IV-style.

Re: Far Cry 3 (December 4)

It's extremely rare that I buy any digital content for full price, but this one will probably be an exception.
