Well, I meant just the outside world would be expansive like Skyrim, but hopefully it would retain the action elements and puzzle-dungeons of the Zelda franchise. Basically, that'd be my dream game; taking the best parts of the last couple ES games and mixing them with best parts of the last few Zelda games.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I took the bait and bought Mega Man X for $2, and it took about ten minutes of gameplay for me to remember why I don't play Mega Man games anymore. I remember that the people who design them don't know the difference between "genuinely challenging" and "needlessly frustrating," and when I'm expected to go all the way back to the beginning when I die, it's Fuck This Shit O'Clock and I go back to Lego City Undercover or Super Mario 3D World before I throw the controller through the window.

You know you can create restore points by tapping the screen, right? It eliminates the frustration and needless repetition.

Well the Wii U arrived today!!! I opened it up so I could set it up and DL the initial update. DL some demos and ended up buying Nano Assault Neo from the store. It's on sale for $7.99 and it's pretty awesome!

Is Mega Man X not on sale anymore? I thought it was through today but I just went to buy it and it shows full price.

I did just buy NES Remix though, I love it!

How much is it? And what exactly is it? Certain levels of classic games?

It's $15. No, it's far more than just levels from classic games. All of the games have essentially been remade for the Wii U, it's not just ROM hacks and things like that as many suspected. Think NES games (moments and levels) + a more evolved and expanded version of WarioWare. Some of the things you do are very, very difficult as well. I thought this would just be something Nintendo put together really quick as a quick cash grab but it isn't. It's one of the many examples of how Nintendo takes a very simple idea then shows you just why they are the best at things like this, little Arcadey type of minigame, and original content. It's great.

Here is one of the examples of what's in it, lol...

No, I didn't.

It would have been nice for the game to give me a pop-up notification when loading it up to inform me of this feature.

Good point, it wouldn't hurt. I'm just used to it being able to do it on the 3ds, but it would be nice if there was some sort of initial notification.

I never owned a DS or 3DS, so you have the advantage of me. And yes, they should implement some kind of notification. Just assuming that people know this shit kind of goes against Nintendo's desire to cater to casual gamers.

Oh well. Thanks for the heads up about it.

Been trying to Platinum all the Pikmin DLC. Twilight Hollow Remix can eat a dick. I've probably spent 5 hours alone on that level.

Back to your regularly scheduled discussion.

I just had a chance to watch the direct. I was very pleased overall. hey rule Warriers looks terrific. I used to like the Dynasty Warriers games. I know it's been getting a lot of flack, but I think DKC looks really fun. I'm also in for Bravely Default. And that airport track in Mario Kart looks sweet.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I played Remix last night for a couple hours total and got up to around 40 stars or so. I hear there are
Spoiler:
612
stars though, so this game has a ton of content burried deep inside. I can say, without even hesitating, that it would have been worth every cent even if they had released it to retail stores for $30 or $40. We all bought WarioWare for that price or even more and this one has a lot more content than those games even did. Don't let this one sit by the side, pick it up and enjoy it.

What a nice surprise that came just about totally out of the blue!

Will the new DKC be as tough as the last one? The last one started off tough, but got downright [i]unplayable[i] just by it's 2nd world. Wasn't even able to get to the 3rd world, and I've grown up on 2D platformers.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

If the new DKC wasn't being released right now, at a time fans are wanting something new and something that could really help the Wii U out of the shape that it's in right now, no one would be mocking it and instead everyone would be excited as hell. We are getting a new DKC game, with Cranky as a playable character, in freakin' HD! I can't wait for it.

I love the difficulty of the series, including Returns.

That was my favorite new feature to the 3DS version.

So which controller do you guys find yourselves using most often? I have read certain games work better with certain controllers but haven't really been able to find any detailed info.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I use my gamepad most of the time. Use the pro controller whenever my gamepad is dead...which occurred a lot when I was blasting through Windwaker. Forced to use the sideways wii controller a few times when playing SM3DW with friends...that was annoying as piss and didn't have the option to use a nunchuck either.

NES remix has kept me up all night Awesome concept! It seems like they drew inspiration from the challenges in New Super Mario U. But it feels more like a big nes hack done by Nintendo I can't believe how little promotion they've done for it.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

So I'm jumping on the bandwagon Sunday with the Best Buy deal. I'd resolved to be content with my PS4 for now, get a WiiU next year and One in 2015, but oh well. I was looking through my stacks of games I've finished and my pile of shame that I'll never get to and realized I could easily trade/sell enough to pay for a WiiU. I already traded in some games to snag Mario 3D and The Wonderful 101. The console comes with New Super Mario/Luigi and ZombiU. I'll also grab Pikmin. Any other must-have exclusives I'm overlooking? I played through my old disc of Wind Waker a year or two back and don't feel the need to grab the HD remake at this point.

Awesome. Make sure to post your NIN ID. We can by "Indy" WiiU friends. I would look hard at Lego City.
