I'd try it out. The button is on the controller and I want to push it and make some wizardry happen.

As for actual integration, being able to type on the gamepad vs. using the remote would be fantastic.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

So I finally got around to doing the Wii transfer. Had a whopping 4 games eligible for a WiiU update. I was surprised to see I had 2100 Wii Points which transferred. But lemmie get this straight, I have 2100 points but they are only good in the Wii store not the WiiU eshop? That's pretty shitty.

What's shady is you can't transfer XBL or PSN games to the consoles. That's shady.

The points is just something that doesn't transfer properly to the U VC. I'd rather it be $20 in points vs my $250 Wii VC games.

What if you had $250 in Wii points, though? I don't understand it myself, they run both stores, and yet you can't even share a wallet between the 3DS and the WiiU.

Nintendo doesn't do much of anything related to accounts/online purchases particularly well.

You could still buy Wii VC titles in the Wii U. It's all within that Wii app.

Wait, you can't transfer XBL or PSN games to your WiiU? What a total rip-off!

The Wii ability on the Wii U is definitely value added, but the PS3 not being on the PS4 and the Xbox 360 not being on the Xbox One don't really cripple either one. But it'd be a nice addition down the line.

Shady isn't really the right word either. It's not like there's an underhanded reason for it.

Yeah... The Xbox 360 and PS3 are going to be really difficult to emulate for a while yet.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

This just shows how ass-backwards Nintendo is with some aspects of gaming.

There would be a huge outrage if MS or Sony did something similar...

Hell, there were bitches crying because MS instituted an expiration of Points that are converted to $

Yeah, the lack of BC on the new consoles are disappointing, but not deliberate.

Did something similar? The One and PS4 can't play discs or Live/PSN titles. That's as shady as it gets.

Buy Nintendo not moving over Wii points to Wii U is worse?

It's not anywhere close to being shady. There are sound technical reasons why BC isn't on the XB1 and PS4.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I think the big question is how that is shady.

They're both entirely different platforms that aren't backwards compatible. It's like going from Windows to OS X and wondering why you can't play Call of Duty 2.

Alright, bad example since Call of Duty 2 was ported to OS X, but it is a Mac OS X specific-edition, you can't play the Windows version on OS X.

The Wii U is still running off IBM Power PC platform, it's basically a souped up Wii making it fairly easy to be BC. Kind of surprised they took away GC support.

Well that one actually is kind of shady, since it's obvious the Wii U could support it with no problem.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Well, they removed GC functionality from the Wii. I wonder how much of it was because of the cost of BC and how much was the cost of adding four controller ports.

Not only can it support it, but it does support it via homebrew apps. It just doesn't support it through official means.
