I gotta admit LosingMyMind, I've never seen somebody so committed to a console in my life.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I knew that games I'd be interested in would likely be few and far between, but it's been over 2 months since I've turned the WiiU on, and it just sits there gathering dust in the same spot on the shelf where the Wii sat just a few months before.

I was holding out hope that Aliens would turn out good, and that I'd have the time to get into Monster Hunter, but it didn't and I don't, so onto craigslist this goes.

I guess that's my penalty for being an early adopter. I totally knew what I was getting myself into, though. Should've learned my lesson with the Vita.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Anyone have issues with Scribblenauts Unlimited freezing? So far the game has froze 3 times in a row on my daughter. I know it has frozen a handful of times before that but it has never done it multiple times in a row. I'll have to look into it more when I get home. I am wondering if she has too much crap stored in her backpack. Last I checked she had 11 pages worth of crap lol

I didn't have it freeze on me once, but I only ever had one or two things in my backpack at any given time.

Yeah, she's basically hoarding. She put everything she's come across in her backpack as well as a ton of different colored yoshis and yoshi eggs. I haven't been able to google any issues with the backpack causing freezing though. I am surprised they didn't appear to put a cap on the backpack storage.

Yeah, she's been playing it for a few weeks now so it's kind of odd that it keeps freezing. I do however hate having to unplug the system to get it to turn off. There appears to be a lot of posts about the Wii U freezing in game so perhaps it's not even Scribblenauts.

I had my first freeze last night in Skylanders: Giants. I was playing gamepad-only, and it just squealed and didn't stop until I physically removed the power cord from the console.

I've only had the WiiU freeze using Hulu Plus. I've got ZombiU, Mario, Sonic Racing, Epic Mickey 2 as well as Nintendo Land and none have frozen on me.

I rented the game for a few days and never had it freeze on me or my son. Then again we didn't have anything stored in our backpack.

That is exactly what mine is doing now. A few seconds after I load my Scribblenauts game, it freezes and makes the loud buzzing noise. The system still knows to eject the disc but won't turn off unless you pull the plug. I am going to try again and see if it keeps happening. I think it's happened to me once with Mario as well but that was a few weeks ago... I am beginning to wonder if the systems are overheating.

Apparently this happens to a lot of people and based on some posts they've even sent their system in to Nintendo. They said Nintendo returned their system and said that they couldn't replicate the issue.

Edit: Well it just froze on me again with Scribblenauts. So far it's froze 6 times with Scribblenauts. I played a level of Mario without any issues though. I guess I will have to backup the save then start a new game and see if Scribblenauts still freezes.

I had scribblenauts unlimited freeze a few times on me in the same sitting. I think it was the castle level and i was messing around making Cthulu vs giant robot fights. Had to unplug the system.
My daughter beat the game and i dont recall her complaining about anymore freezes

I ended up deleting my daugher's save and having her start over. She only had one more area to unlock so she wasn't really happy. I still have no idea what the hell the issue was. I want to blame the backpack but she's had a ton of crap in it for awhile now and she hasn't had any problems. All the various reports of random freezing don't help matters either.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I finally picked up a Wii U Deluxe this week (thanks to the Target deal) with Super Mario Bros. U and ZombiU.

Love/Hate relationship so far with ZombiU. I really like most everything, but was getting frustrated last night dying in the same place. I think I'm going to chalk it up as a learning experience and start again taking into account what I've learned.

If anyone wants to add me my Miiverse is in my sig, and I could always use some supplies from an infected friend.

No, I'll look into that tonight. It does however seem like it's back to being an intermittent issue. My daughter played quite a bit yesterday and it only froze once. Today it froze again after a short period of time and she now no longer wants to use the system. I think it's a system issue due to all the various freezing reports from different games. I hope the spring update comes out soon and fixes everything.

I probably just have bad luck with launch day consoles. The Wii and the Wii U have been the only two consoles that I've bought on day 1. The Wii had a defective ac adapter and only worked for about 20 minutes before it died. I am still surprised that Nintendo's CS didn't offer to expedite a replacement ac adapter. I had to talk them into upgrading my shipping to 2 day air. I still don't know why they didn't offer to NDA a replacement when their system stopped working after 20 minutes on launch day...

I find it ironic that the two biggest contributors to this thread are named "Krayzie" and "LosingMyMind"
I'm still on the fence getting a Wii U --- that damn gamepad with old school classics is so enticing... but I'll either wait for a price drop or bypass it altogether.

Did Nintendo or publishers give any reasons on why Tomb Raider or Crysis 3 isn't coming out on Wii U?

I wonder if that EA/Nintendo issue plays into the rumors of EA being "Xbox 720" exclusive-ish or something going forward.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Are there any reports out there that the latest update jacked up any systems in any way? I only ask because I went to put in the Transformers Prime game in for my son and it wouldn't read for the longest time. Then once I cleaned the disc for about the 5th time it booted up, played through the first cutscene and stopped working before he even got a chance to play. Forgive me for being lazy and not searching....just got home from the hospital with a newborn today and barely have it in me to ask you all.

I'd read that it had caused some problems in Japan with connecting to the eShop, but I haven't seen anything regarding it causing any instability over here. I've only played a few hours, since the update, but I haven't noticed any issues.

I noticed that the recent announcement for Madden 25 did not include the Wii U as a platform, even though Madden was a launch title or close to it. The Tiger Woods PGA game isn't coming either, but both games are coming to the PS3. So if they're going to be exclusive (which I still doubt), maybe it only applies to "next generation" consoles. We'll see.

BTW MasterofDVD, congratulations.
