Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Open world MGS
http://17f0418678386b4e6860-e4f9fcd9...op_upscale.jpg Hideo Kojima has unveiled a brand new Metal Gear Solid game at a Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary Event in Tokyo. The game is subtitled: Ground Zeroes and was demoed running on a high-end PC running Konami's next-gen 'Fox Engine'. Muttered words aroudn the internet from attendees at the event suggests the game's demo was set around a base at night, in the rain, with open world gameplay following an in-engine cinematic that is, reportedly, amazing - and there's no change in the graphics as the cut-scene moves to gameplay. Snake can reportedly call upon a chopper at any time and also drive a jeep. With the game running on PC, it's highly likely the demo was yet another glimpse at what the next generation of console games will look like. Fox Engine is, after all, Konami's next-gen engine. But to know now there's a brand new MGS prequel headed by Kojima himself being made for it is an incredibly mouth-watering prospect. |
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Without seeing the thread title, and just seeing that picture alone, I would have guessed it was Sam Fisher and not Snake.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Always up for more Metal Gear.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
More Big Boss eh?

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
*cue Hideo Kojimas 'this is the last metal gear solid!'*

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
It's a nice looking trailer but I'm so burned out on this franchise that I can't muster any excitement.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Damn that looked good.
|
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Just keep it stealthy, is all I ask.

It's weird to say, but while I probably won't be playing the game, I do like to hear people talk about the Metal Gear games. Kojima is a man of ideas, and I like hearing people interpreting what his games are about. I look forward to that. |

Its just all hype and nothing more. MGS will go on as long as it remains a cash cow. Count me in with the people that aren't really excited by this. I loved the first two MGS games (as well as the original two 8-bit games). I liked but didn't love MGS3. I never had any excitement whatsoever for MGS4 and never even played it. I think the reason why I lost interest in the franchise is just because I grew up. All the bloated exposition seems really sophisticated and awesome when you are young, but when you get older you realize these games are really not that good at all and the stories are complete nonsense. |
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
I haven't played a Metal Gear game since Metal Gear Solid.
|
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
That video was great.
Sometimes the games in these series leaves a bad taste in my mouth upon completion. But the journey is great in each one. I could compare the metal gear solid games to the television show LOST. Looking forward to this.... |
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
So I'm confused....this isn't MGS5? Didn't the title screen from MGS5 leak earlier this year?

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Its a prequel to all the games
|
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
MGS:3 was a prequel, so would that make this the prequel to the prequel? Either way this is probably one of my top 3 favorite series. I cant get enough of these games so I am sold
|
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
I would assume this takes place in the late 70s or early 80s based on how big boss looks. A sequel to part 3, prequel to the rest. (refering to metal gear solid games)
|
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Well they referred to several things from Peace Walker so I'm assuming it's after that (Peace Walker itself is after Snake Eater).

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
why is ron pearlman playing the title character?
i like how the 11 minute video, there's like 1 minute of game play. |
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Kojima said this is a prologue to MGS5

I like the facial animation but the trailer did nothing to sell me on the new engine. EDIT: Added a better quality version of the new trailer. |
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
MGS: Ground Zeroes' risky content may prevent its release
Speaking to several members of the press at an event in London organized by Konami, designer Hideo Kojima revealed that his upcoming entry into the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Ground Zeroes, is going to be taking a lot of risks content-wise -- so much so that that he's not even sure if he'll be able to release the game. "Over the past 25 year [sic] I have tried to work with the Metal Gear series to introduce more mature themes, but really it hasn't gotten there yet," said Kojima. "Compared to movies and books it still has a long way to go. That's precisely what I want to try to tackle with Ground Zeroes. Honestly I'm going to be targeting a lot of taboos, a lot of mature themes that really are quite risky. I'm not even sure if I'm going to be able to release the game, and even if I did release the game then maybe it wouldn't sell because it's too much." Kojami also told those present at the round table interview that "as a creator I want to take that risk" and that he is "approaching the project as a creator and prioritizing creativity over sales." What exactly Kojima has included in Ground Zeroes that's made him almost sound nervous is completely beyond me right now. Anyone willing to take a guess? Read more at http://www.destructoid.com/mgs-groun...xKIeBJ8atxi.99 -Child Soldiers? I'm guessing you'll be able to kill kids in this one. |

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
I'd say fighting child soldiers is probably a good guess. Especially in today's political environment.
Butt tasting is pretty much a given. |
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Snake pees in the bad guys butts?
I got nothing. |

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
This is a prequel/introductory episode to MGS V: The Phantom Pain. So based on that and the price tag, I'd imagine it'll be short.
|
Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Pretty sure it's gonna only be $30 for the digital version so yep probably pretty short
Kojima said The Phantom Pains map is 100s of times bigger than this one |
