Running and gunning won't get you very far in this game, although it does have its place, IIRC.

And, yes, it is a rather depressing game.

No. At least, not effectively.

This game is a story driven game. The mechanics work, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone based on that. It can also be very depressing at times. You might be better off with something like Uncharted or Gears of War.

I would give it more time. You are missing out on some much better sequences like straight out fights with other humans. There are some run and gun parts like when you are trapped in a building with a horde of clickers and bloaters. The fun part is in the variety of weapons and options. Also humans react realistically to your actions. Like if you take at one guy stealthy, his buddy starts freaking out and panicking.

The story is depressing, but very rich with characters. One of the few games that really had me emotionally invested at the end.

Yeah, it has a cool game world but the gameplay was pretty dull to me.

Looks nice! $70 for a remaster is a bit steep, but they also say it was "built from the ground up for PS5" so.... we'll see.

Re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

This would be an absolutely perfect selection to add to PS Plus Premium when it launches. Of course they probably won't, but the fact that the service exists is reason alone for me to wait. It will have to be coming there sooner or later.
And yeah, that is a VERY steep price for a game that anyone with PS Plus and a PS5 already owns. Even if it is a total rebuild - it's still the same game.

Head-to-head comparison. I mean, it's better...but is it $70 better????

Re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

Because the show was premiering this month, I finally got around playing this game.

Even though I still had an unwrapped PS4 remastered version I got years ago, I went ahead and got the PS5 version.

It was an awesome gaming experience, after beating the game, I took a short break then went to play the Left Behind add-on in one sitting.

I hope the show is half as good as the game.

Does anyone know if Season 1 of the show will only cover the Part 1 story or will it have plot elements from Part 2?

According to the show thread, season 1 should be the first game only.

Re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

With not even a rough date, I'd expect the MP game to come out late 2024, if not more realistically in 2025. My guess is Fall 2025.
That said, that's fine. TLoU2 was easily in my top 5 of last-gen. Phenomenal game, and replaying it recently just solidified that. While MP games aren't really my cup of tea, I'll still give it a go when it's out because TLoU world is so good, but I do not think it'll be an add-on for anyone who owns TLoU2. At this point, I'd bet on either be a free GaaS game, or $70.

”significantly scaled down the team”

Yeah, not a good sign.

Re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

Just started this. Great so far. That opening scene was heartbreaking. The only issue I have is no real map and sometimes I go in circles, but not so bad. So far loving it.

And to think I would be missing out on all these adventures if I wasn’t such a die hard Xbox fan since 360. Frankly, I think PS5 kicks XBSX ass.

Re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

So, the game told me I acquired an upgrade to the shiv. But, when I go into menu I don’t see any upgrade or how to utilize it. It still lets me craft only a regular shiv it seems.

Also, later in the game, are you able to carry more of certain items like health packs and shivs? Right now, can only carry 3. I fear I’ll need more with some battles.

Man, I love mechanics of this game. the exploration is great. i search every nook and cranny. and stealthily sneaking on a clicker and then shiving them to death is quite exhilarating.

Is there a place to see what your percentage of game completion is?

You are at 1.8%

I honestly have no idea, it has been so long since I barely started playing it... sadly it is one of thousands of games on the pile of shame for me.

Re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

I don’t think it tells you anywhere what % you’re at. In fact, it shows everything but that. Hours played, how many collectibles you have, etc. but no %. Very odd.
Nm, I found it on PS app.
