Some of the other games are already approaching that size. My concern is where do they go from here for games coming out in the coming years? Will they shave off content to fit the standard bds? Will there be higher capacity bds that can still be read by with the current system?

More logically though, they'll just start compressing the massive audio files that are eating up most of the space. I think the ID engines (Rage, Wolfenstein, Doom) are the only ones that justify their size through in-game graphics by using "Megatexture" packs that not heavily compressed (and frankly don't look all that great, but that's another reason why Wolfenstein runs so well on low end machines).
But that tends to be what it comes down to, the less the compression, the less power required to display it or play it back (audio).

All I know is one week left. Never experienced the first but heard a lot about it while on the 360 from friends who had the PS3. I've been following the "Remastered" since announced and all indications it will be worth it considering the game and all the DLC included at $50.

Assume everyone has heard about this by now, but it's probably in the Movie forum.
Sam Raimi showed up at Comic Con to announce he is producing the movie based on this, and he has spoken to Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones to play Ellie. Sound good to me!

As has been said before, the reason the relationship and the story works is because it's told through the course of what is essentially a 10 hour movie. Condensing that to 2 hours (or less) won't have the same impact.

The game it's 10 hours or so, because you keep dying.

I think it can be made into a 2 hours movie. TLOU, like all games, needs to have repetition, you keep killing the same monsters, over and over, your character "grows" over time, gets better weapons, etc. You don't need that in a movie.
Can they screw it? Of course. But the possibility of delivering a good movie is there.

TLOU could be condensed into a 2hr 7m movie with no problem and still hold the same weight.

Gameinformer has a review up already....
http://www.gameinformer.com/games/th...ts-better.aspx
Speaking of perfect opportunities, Remastered is the definitive way to play The Last of Us. Plenty of HD remakes have hit consoles in recent years, but Naughty Dog's PS4 update is among the most striking I've seen. The PS3 version of The Last of Us was no graphical slouch, but Remastered's improvements to the detailed character models, lighting system, and framerate dramatically elevate it above the original. Looking at the two versions side by side, it's remarkable how much smoother and crisper this new version is.
Gamespot has theirs up as well....

....The PlayStation 4’s extra horsepower also gives a boost to The Last of Us’ graphical fidelity. Now, I know that’s not necessarily saying a whole lot, considering The Last of Us on PS3 is already the most beautiful game I’ve seen on any console. But somehow, Remastered looks just a bit better. Textures are more detailed, the lighting is enhanced, and everything pops more.
The changes aren’t mind altering – or even game changing – but you can absolutely see the difference. From the moment I started the campaign, I couldn’t help but notice improvements everywhere. Some are far more minor than others, but they’re there, and they make The Last of Us burst with even more life.

I've said before that TLOU story didn't move me at all like it seemed to do many others and I thought that AI was pretty week
that said I never played the MP and have since heard some great things about it and maybe I'll consider picking this up later at a discounted price to play that
if anything the inclusion of MP in a remastered collection makes me feel good that we may see it included in an Uncharted collection

I'm really embarassed to admit that I've never even unwrapped my copy of TLoU that I bought at launch. Don't know why I never got around to it, as I've heard it was great. Must be my deep-seeded dislike of Zombie games -- I kind of hate them all (except Left 4 Dead).
That said, if I can unwrap and trade in this PS3 version for a PS4 copy tomorrow at GS for $25, I'll probably do that. Never bought the DLC and it's worth a $10 upgrade for me. MP might be fun as well.

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
I rented it for $2 from a red box last year just knowing it would come out on PS4. I plowed through it in a weekend and loved almost every minute. A few set pieces were just OK from a gameplay perspective, but that's the way it goes with this type of game.
It's really more of a post apocalyptic game than a zombie game. It reminded me a little bit of Enslaved, but with better execution and storytelling (and with zombies instead of robots, obviously). I didn't play the multiplayer, but every video I've seen of it looks interesting.
I'll probably pick this up around black Friday.
Polygon bumped their review from a 7.5 to an 8.0 for the PS4 version, so it's gone from "decent" to "good". Looks odd next to a couple hundred Game of the Year awards.

Well, I loved Enslaved, so that's good. Plus Naughty Dog has really never disappointed me (forgiving the steep difficulty of Jak 2 and doing my best to forget Jak Racing).
Most of my zombie annoyance comes from limited ammo and the run-away game design they often use. I hate that shit. Let me kill stuff dammit! I got fed up pretty quickly with Dead Rising 3 and sold it off a long time ago.

So basically Survival Horror. You would hate Dino Crisis also which has no zombies.

Well Last of Us definitely isn't a running around killing zombies at will type of game either and for me, the combat was a large annoyance since it's more of the slow, take cover, and sneak around type.

Played on normal difficulty, you get plenty of resources.
There is a lot of stealth gameplay, which I normally dislike intensely, but in this case, I thought it was well executed. It helps that it has good checkpoints.

I agree with you Chess. I usually dislike stealth game play, but I enjoyed TLOU. I think it helped that your game doesn't end immediately if you get caught. Plus, you have a feasible chance to fight your way out of a tight spot.
