re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

Now I remember back when Beyond Two Souls was coming out, the Director said they were working with an engine built for the PS4 and just ported it to PS3. I wonder if they have a similar release plan in place for PS4?

Rumor has it that yes, it's coming to PS4 as well.

Since B2S was a piece of shit, I wonder how they're going to price the remaster.

I actually thought it was fantastic. But I know I'm in the minority. Alot of the design choices we're extremely polarizing.

a lot of the crappy writing was polarizing too.

I couldn't get past an hour of it. David Cage is so up his own ass.

It also has an average 70/100 score, which for a big-budget, high profile game, is pretty damn low.

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

I enjoyed B2S but despite the superior acting and graphics, the gameplay and writing felt inferior (from a story progression/branching standpoint) to that of HR (which itself had some major final act issues). I regret neither purchase but neither truly live up to Cage's ambition. He needs to accept he's not a great writer and hire one with real talent.

Out of curiosity, if they decide to give owners of the ps3 copy a discount how would they prove you own it? I've never had a discount offered in such a manner on a game.

If you bought it digitally, they would have a record of that and discount it in the PS4 store accordingly. If you have a disc, they can sell it to you at the discounted price when your game is inserted into the console and identified (or if there's some kind of code in the box you can enter, dunno if there is), and you will likely be required to have the PS3 copy in the system any time you want to play. This is basically what they've done with other "upgrade" titles. You will likely have to buy it digitally and there won't be any discount on the PS4 disc, unless Gamestop or someplace decides to offer a trade in program.

From Dual Shockers....
http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/04/...-release-date/

The Last of Us Remastered: Amazon, Target and Best Buy Remove June 20th Release Date

Earlier this month retailers like Amazon, Target and Best Buy pegged the release date of The Last of Us to June 20th.

The situation has now changed, as all three retailers removed that date. Amazon and Target changed it to December 31st, while Best Buy now just has a “not yet announced.”

One has to wonder just what the heck is going on over there.....

The Last of Us Lead Character Artist Leaves Naughty Dog

Destination unknown.

Naughty Dog has lost yet another member of its staff, this time in the shape of lead character artist on The Last of Us, Michael Knowland.

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

It's a mix.

Some of these guys are simply taking better or higher paying jobs (Richmond), some probably didn't get the creative control and/or money they thought they deserved (Hennig) and others are just normal comings and goings. This guy had only been around for 3 years, so he was hardly a fixture.

But stand by for news every time one of the 250ish employees at Naughty Dog comes or goes, because games journalizm.

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

I don't think Naughty Dog has anything to worry about. In terms of the best up and coming talent, I'd imagine most people in this field would jump at a chance to work an open job at Naughty Dog.

This happens at a lot of companies. Usually we just never hear about it or they're all lumped in together. Naughty Dog is fine.

Plus, its particularly normal for people to leave right after a project finishes (after they get credit).

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

It's not a perfect analogy, but I'll bet it's a little bit like a successful sports team getting their coaches poached at the end of a season.

Who knows with this newest guy, but with 3 years tenure, I hardly think it's even newsworthy.

This game is fucking awesome, finished it today. I hope the LEFT BEHIND goes on sale, I want to play it so bad. And if my brother gets it for the PS4 then I'll play it on there too. Yes I want LOU2.

Over at Dual Shockers they have some images up of a "The Last of Us" PS4 skin...pretty cool looking.

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)

Gotta go with Music on that one. No.

I don't think any skin would look good on the PS4. I might be interested in custom versions of the glossy plastic that goes over the HDD though. Seems like it would be easy to do.

I'm not sure if it's temporary or not, but the PS4 preorder dropped to $49.99 on Amazon.

Also, go back and read post #35. I'm amazed about how little of that made it into the game.
