Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear 5olid)

I only got to play for about an hour (still in the Hospital) Holy crap that shit was fucked up. When it was announced as an open world metal gear, I thought we'd lose the weirdness and cutscenes that make a MGS game great. Glad it's still intact

Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear 5olid)

A couple of complaints:

1. There is no pause. (I know they want to be make this realistic but I want to be able to pause the game when necessary. You never know when things will go down at your house.)
2. The controls are a bit quirky/janky as well. The default control for the right stick for moving the camera is inverted and it is not very smooth.
3. There is no way to adjust the controls in game and no way to go back to the main menu without closing the application first and rebooting the game.

These are "minor" annoyances but annoyances that should not exist in this good of a game.

In the intro, when the doctor asks you to look up, whichever direction you move the camera will be set to "up". So, basically, you did that.

Yeah, but I had to push down to look up. What if I accidentally pushed down instead of up? Should I be forced to play like that for the rest of the game?

Then you go into the options menu.

?

On Xbone the menu button pauses and gives you access to options.
According to Google the touchpad accomplishes this on the PS4.

You can't look at the control set-up and change it? I'm pretty all MGS games have a setup under your control. If not, MGS2 onward for sure.

EDIT: So essentially dsa_shea is telling us that he's not good at games?

Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear 5olid)

I pushed both the options button and the touchpad and they take you to the same place, which does not have anywhere to change your settings. Also, they do not pause the game. I had the game in that menu at a cleared out base and heard a truck pull up, drop someone off and them start firing at me.

I'm enjoying it a lot so far. The prologue was a little too "watch this cinematic, play for one minute, watch another cinematic", but the main game is much better in that regard.

Can you pause it by clicking the home button? I did that in Bloodborne and it worked.

For this game, the touchpad is split into sectors. I believe upper left or lower right takes you to the pause menu. The middle takes you to the iDroid, as does the option button.

Well, that makes a lot more sense. I wish that the game did a bit better job of explaining that. I appreciate your help.

I don't know about in-game, but there's an options menu at the title screen, before you start playing, with Snake in a chopper, with the top item being continue game and the next one or so being game options, pretty much like any other videogame out there...

I thought there was no pause at first, too. But yeah, options menu.

I love the fact you can not take a shower and have blood and dirt and eventually flies all over you. Something about a serious cutscene and having insects buzzing furiously around your mug

What tipped me off was that different button prompts highlighted different parts of the touch pad. I agree that it could have been more clear.

Pause button is the left bottom of the touch pad. The "droid" is the upper right and map and other items are center.

The opening to the game was pure craziness, and makes me hope he gets recruited to make a cinematic Xmen game at some point

Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear 5olid)

I just played through Ground Zeroes earlier this week and then moved straight into this and I'm totally hooked. Love it very much. I hadn't played a Metal Gear game since MGS2 and I forgot how fun (and offbeat) they can be.

This is turning out to be an amazing year for games.

Are you being stealthy or running & gunning? I've found the less stealthy I play, the more fun I have...
