Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear 5olid)

Supposedly this game finally has a street date of September 1st.

Supposedly.

It seems like after months of rumors, it's finally true and legit, but you never know with Kojima.

I dunno. I love the series but ground zeroes was a MAJOR turn off for me. We'll see.

I'm the opposite. I found it a breath of fresh air. What didn't you like about it?

Ground Zeroes was excellent. I don't think I've ever been as hyped for a game as I am this one. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

The Collector's Edition looks badass (and super-expensive)

Meh. I can't see myself wanting Snake's terminator arm displayed anywhere.

I just didn't like the open sandbox thing it was trying to achieve. It felt like a GTA mod to me. Just imho anyhow.

Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear 5olid)

It's good to finally have the release date for this installment. Hopefully Kojima will tie everything together, nice and neat, leaving everything in The Phantom Pain to tie directly into the original Metal Gear chapter.

I would love to have that limited edition console, but I always seem to own my PlayStation (whichever generation) before they come out with limited edition ones...and I am not buying one just to store, unfortunately.

$99 is super expensive? Have you seen the ridiculous Call of Duty or Assassins Creed bundles? Or the Borderlands Claptrap bundle?

Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear 5olid)

The Collector's Edition is up for preorder on Best Buy. I threw in a preorder for the hell of it since Amazon's been sold out and they are going for about $200 on eBay. Figured $79.99 with GCU and I can always cancel if needed.

Yeah, I just pre-ordered there as well with GCU and came here to post. Beat me to it, Matty!

I said it looks super-expensive. There was no MSRP price at the time. Seeing it for $79.99 with GCU is a bargain!

Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear 5olid)

The real question about the rumors is, will he really be leaving this time? Kojima has been saying that it's his "last Metal Gear Solid" for a long time now.

That's cool. I was curious to see what didn't work for you. I wonder if more MGS fans will feel the same.

Re: Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear 5olid)

When we spoke to Kojima recently, he was keen to emphasise Metal Gear Solid V will be the last entry in the series and, if this is any indication, it certainly will be for the man who started it all.
I've heard that bullshit before.

I was going to say I'd buy a PS4 for this but see that it's not exclusive. Nice. Anyway this game looks awesome.

Gamespot is saying he's done after the game ships.

A fallout between Kojima Productions and its owning publisher, Konami, has led to senior staff at the studio being restricted access to corporate internet, emails, and phone, GameSpot understands.

Along with the restricted communications, key developers at the studio, such as Hideo Kojima, will now have limited opportunities to lend their appearance to promotions of the studio’s upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Power struggles between Kojima Productions and Konami have convinced the publisher to make drastic changes, including amending the employee status of its Metal Gear team. Some senior staff at the studio, including Kojima, now essentially work as contractors, not permanent employees.

The extraordinary measures were revealed by a source within the studio, speaking to GameSpot on the condition of anonymity. The person explained that, once the Phantom Pain project is finished, in all likelihood the management at the studio will disband.

"After we finish MGSV, Mr. Kojima and upper management will leave Konami. They said their contract ends in December," the source claimed.

I'm convinced there is some unique force in the universe that blocks Silent Hill from ever being good again.

Shit, yeah, I totally forgot about that. Wonder how this would impact that project. P.T. was absolutely terrifying to play, so I was pretty stoked about the next Silent Hill entry.

Was P.T. a console exclusive or did they ever release it on PC?
