According to some people who have seen leaked footage...when being chased by cops you can now lose them by going down alleys and hiding in obscure spots.....on foot you can hide in dark areas and they will not be able to find you as well.

I can confirm that this is true as long as you were not seen going into those spots. They did an awesome job creating a smaller version of L.A. with areas with different levels of elevation. The rest of the created world is just as amazing.
