What else comes out in February besides Metal Gear and Crysis 3?
I know at the time Bioshock Infinite was supposed to come out but then got delayed.
Am I missing a game?
I see more in March (Bioshock, South Park, StarCraft, God of War, MLB 13, Gears of War, and who knows maybe even GTA V)

The new Sly Cooper, Aliens Colonial Marines and Rayman Legends also also coming out that month.
And I think at that time Metro Last Light and Tomb Raider were scheduled for sometime in February.

I'm going to follow this but didn't play either of the first two. The co-op part is what I'm looking at. If I can find a friend who will get it, I'll go for it. Sorta of reminds me of a space version of Army of Two which I liked.

Re: Dead Space 3
Played the demo for a little bit tonight. I guess I wasn't on long enough to make a complete judgement, but I enjoyed the time I spent. I loved the first two games, and this one felt similar enough to make me feel like I was getting more of what I enjoyed in the first place. I had to stop before really looking at the weapon crafting, but it seemed like an interesting addition from what little I messed around with it. I've gone from "Wait for a price drop because of my backlog" to "Probably justify the preorder to myself 'cause I want the DLC extras and I really played the first two a lot."

Re: Dead Space 3
I played through the demo both solo and co-op. It did nothing to assuage my fear that this series is moving more towards generic shooter territory and farther from what originally made it so great.
Also, the cover system seemed both pointless and terribly implemented.

I DL the demo and hopefully will give it a shot tonight. However i'm on AT&T and no Xbox Live since Tuesday. Was suppose to play Halo last night with the new missions released.

No creepy hallways or scares.
Take the Dead Space name away and this is just another kill aliens game.
Probably canceling my pre order.
Oh and I said I wasn't going to like part two and ended up not only being wrong but wrong enough that I played through it twice.

Re: Dead Space 3
I am going to wait for the price drop on this one. I was all excited for part 2 and jumped on it right away but it didn't really blow me away like the first one. Sadly I still have not finished it; I have 2 levels left and sort of forgot about it.

Re: Dead Space 3
The $20 credit at Amazon and the extra dlc bonuses got me to pull the trigger. I love the first two but got burned by the large price drop pretty quickly last year. I was going to wait until around $30 but I like the series so much that 40 bucks is fine with me.

I'm still hopeful the game overall will be as good or better than DS2, which I greatly enjoyed...
Then I'll use the $20 credit to get Crysis 3.

Dead Space 3 Dev Hints at ‘Disturbing’ DLC
“A top secret additional story that will be coming in a few weeks.”
Dead Space 3 developer Visceral has hinted at new story content set to come shortly after launch. In a blog post on Dead Space’s official site, Dead Space 3 executive producer Steve Papoutsis teased that new downloadable content will be coming sooner than you might have expected.
“The team is hard at work on a top secret additional story that will be coming in a few weeks,” Papoutsis wrote. “We're not saying much, yet - but think ‘disturbing’ to get your imaginations going.”
Papoutsis also mentioned “some Day 1 DLC suits, like the Marauder, Sharpshooter, and Tundra Recon suits, that you might choose to pick up,” as well as the N7 armor announced last week. He noted that custom skins are “built for our collectors out there, who like to stand out from the crowd when playing DS3 in co-op.”

Re: Dead Space 3
Executive producer spills the beans on DLC and additional modes on the Dead Space 3's blog.
"Two of the additional modes, Classic and Hardcore, have clearly been made with Dead Space veterans in mind. Classic mode is a single-player only affair that ditches the game's new crosshairs and resource management elements, which should make Dead Space 3 feel more similar to its predecessors.
Hardcore mode, on the other hand, only gives players one life for the entire campaign. Dead Space 2's punishing Hardcore mode allowed players just three saves for the entire game, but offered an immensely powerful weapon to its survivors.
There's also a classic New Game+ mode, as well as a Pure Survival mode where everything in the game has to be crafted. "Enemies ONLY drop resources, and there’s no ammo, health, or weapon parts to be found," said Papoutsis on the Dead Space blog. "You’ll have to choose what to craft every time you see a bench. Upgrade? Med Pack? Plasma Core? Think fast -- there’s a Waster right around the corner!""

Dead Space 3 Has 11 Pieces of Day One DLC
Dead Space 3 will launch with 11 pieces of day one DLC available, offering services ranging from speeding up loot collection to new suits and weapons for Isaac.
According to Eurogamer, most of the purchasable upgrades tie into the game's crafting system, specifically the scavenger bots that you can use to salvage weapon parts and resources scattered around the game world. It's worth noting that these DLC bundles are separate from the micro-transactions in the game's weapon crafting system discovered last week.
Three packs were spotted on the US PlayStation store that'll allow you to soup-up your little helpers, each priced at $4.99. One will increase your bots' capacity, another will strengthen its personality and the final one will speed up its loot collection. Prices for Europe and Australasia haven't been unveiled yet.
Taking to the Dead Space blog, executive producer Steve Papoutsis explained the purpose of the scavenger bots, writing, "Everybody will find at least one of these bots in the game (and there a couple hidden ones to pick up, too.) The Scavenger Bot is an autonomous robot that can harvest resources for you and deliver them to the Tool Construction bench. Resources include stuff like somatic gel, scrap metal, tungsten - materials that you can use to craft into anything you want, like a health pack or weapon part.
"As a replacement for DS2’s credits, resources are a key part of the Dead Space 3 experience, and their placement in the game has been well thought out by our game designers. Whether by looting enemies, opening lockers, or exploring the world, you’ll find more than enough resources in-game to fully experience DS3 on any difficulty level.
"The scavenger bot's purpose is to give you an extra edge, since there's a bit of gameplay (and risk/reward) to using him and finding the richest resource caches. You can also choose to download upgrades to the scavenger bot that double his capacity or speed up his trips to the bench."
The other packs available include new weapons and suits for Isaac, as well as those included in special editions of the game. The cost for these varies between $0.99 and $4.99, with the latter being more common. Finally, as is becoming woefully commonplace these days, an online pass will be available for $9.99 so you can play online if you haven't bought a new copy of the game.

Re: Dead Space 3
The Dead Space games are easily my two favorite games of this generation and even I don't like where they're taking this. I read a brief article about the "micro transactions" when they were first announced and the author made an excellent point; one of the aspects that make the game so great is its immersive style. Like your health bar being integrated in the suit, and the story gets moved along by characters communicating via the holo device on your wrist. I'll add to that: There's no score or map or anything on the screen to take you out of the moment. There are hardly any cutscenes. The level transition using the vents in Dead Space 2 was brilliant, as in once you started playing the action never stopped.
Now they go and add this feature that takes you completely out of the game so you can use REAL money to buy ammo and whatever else. I know it's been stated that stuff is optional and the game can be completed without it. Maybe so. But then they go and add a Hard Core mode that gives you 1 life. Or a Survivor Mode where there are no ammo drops and you have to craft everything. I'm guessing that souped-up $4.99 scavenger bot will be kinda necessary for that mode. I know I don't have to play that mode, but I will. And it'll probably make me want to spend more money. Fuck You EA!
All that said, still a Day 1 purchase for me. And it'll most likely be my favorite game of the year

Re: Dead Space 3
I wavered back and forth on whether or not to cancel my pre-order of this. I waited a bit too late and now it's "Shipping Soon" from Amazon. Oh well, between the $20 Amazon credit, selling the pre-order bonuses for absurd amounts on eBay, and finishing the game as quickly as possible and then trading it while the value is still high, I'll likely make a net profit like I do with most new releases these days.
As for the game itself...my body is ready for epic disappointment. I'd love to be wrong about that.
